An investigation into the optimal design of a substation grounding system for the transmission substation in Gaza City, Palestine has been carried out. A research into the most influential parameters on the effectiveness of the substation grid system has been performed and its results have been incorporated into the Gaza case study. Through modelling and simulating the power station in Gaza while considering some field data, an optimal substation grounding grid has been designed and has shown complete conformance to safety. It is thus considered that such a design will protect personnel in any area of the substation in addition to the installed machinery if the largest possible fault current was to traverse the earth.

This study focused on the determination and analysis of an accurate analytical model for PIN diode under different bias conditions. This approach employs analytically derived expressions including the variation of the depletion regions in the device to make the used model available over a wide range of testing conditions without remake the parameters extraction procedure. The validity of the proposed extraction procedure has been verified by the very good agreement between simulated and measured current and voltage waveforms reverse recovery at different range of the operation conditions. The model is developed and simulated with the VHDL-AMS language under Ansoft Simplorer®Environment.

Geochemistry of Chromitites in Eastern Part of Neyriz Ophiolite Complex (Southern Iran)

The Neyriz ophiolite complex is a part of NW-SE thrust belt (Late Cretaceous) of Iran, which is over the Arabian plate margin. The complex is mainly composed of the upper mantle rocks. Our research was focused on the eastern part of Neyriz ophiolite complex so called as “Dowlat Abad-Tang e Hana”. Mantle sequence of this ophiolitic complex is comprising predominantly of harzburgite and minor lherzolite, dunitc sheaths and chromite pods. Harzburgite is the most abundant ultramafic rock and is associated with the less dunite masses. The chromites are known with Cr# 42 to 76 and Mg# 73 to 89. There is a negative correlation between Cr#-Mg# which is one of the features of podiform chromites. The geochemistry of these chromites is consistent with the overall composition of podiform chromites in terms of Cr#, Mg#, the amounts of Cr2O3 (13.35% - 54.47%), Al2O3 (0.43% - 8%), MgO (13.25% - 38.56%), TiO2 (0.003% - 0.206%) as well as the correlations between various oxides and all of them are high chromium types.

Introduction: To investigate the relationship of xanthine oxidase activity with nephrotic syndrome disorder in children, and the optimization of the enzyme activity conditions in the disorder. Material and methods: Sera of children with nephrotic syndrome (NS) (60 samples) were obtained from Central Child Teaching Al Karama Hospital (CCTAH), from 2nd Mar. 2013 to 28th Feb. 2014. Sera of the patients were assayed for xanthine oxidase (XO) activity using colorimetric absorbance technique. The obtained results were compared with the enzyme activity of normal children (70 samples) as control. Results and conclusions: The results revealed a significant (P < 0.001) elevation in XO activity in serum of nephrotic syndrome (0.12 ± 0.06 IU/L) compared with that of normal subjects (0.05 ± 0.009 IU/L), showing an elevation of (70%) in XO activity (about 2/3) that of normal group. Factors influencing XO activities were also studied and showed that XO activity is a pH dependent. Significant elevation (P < 0.001) was found in uric acid level in sera of NS patients (497.52 ± 3.21 μmol/L) compared with that in normal group (298.12 ± 1.70 μmol/L). Elevation was found in urea level in sera of NS patient (10.69 ± 7.55 mmol/L) compared with that of normal group (4.57 ± 1.27 mmol/L). It was appeared, there is a role of XO activity in the pathogenesis of endothelial injury during glomerular lesion in NS and that was confirmed by comparing XO activity and other related conditions with the activity of normal volunteers.

In this paper, a cascade Sigma-Delta (ΣΔ) Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) for multistandard radio receiver was presented. This converter is supposed to be able to support GSM, UMTS, Wifi and WiMAX communication standards. The Sigma-Delta modulator makes use of 4 bit quantizer and Data-Weighted-Averaging (DWA) technique to attain high linearity over a wide bandwidth. A top-down design methodology was adopted to provide a reliable tool for the design of reconfigurable high-speed ΣΔMs. VHDL-AMS language was used to model the analog and mixed parts of the selected 2-1-1 cascade ΣΔ converter and to verify their reconfiguration parameters based on behavioural simulation. This multistandard architecture was high level sized to adapt the modulator performance to the different standards requirements. The effects of circuit non-idealities on the modulator performance were modeled and analyzed in VHDLAMS to extract the required circuit parameters.

Spinal cord injuries from road traffic crashes in southeastern Iran

Objective ： To analyze the data of patients with spinal cord injury （SCI） induced by road traffic crashes in southeastern Iran for better understanding the pattern of these injuries and therefore for better designing health system planning. Methods ： In this historical cohort study, the patients who had been transferred to Level I trauma center in southeastern Iran due to road traffic accidents with radiographic documented SCI were evaluated. Results： Among 64 patients with SCI, 38 patients （59.4 %, 36 males and 2 females, aged 27.42 years ± 9.44 years on average） were injured by road traffic accidents. Car and motorcycle accidents were responsible for 26 cases （68.4%） and 12 cases （31.6%）, respectively. And 31patients （81. 6%） had complete SCI. Conus medularis （T12-L2 ） was the most affected level. Conclusions： Results are discussed in terms of preventive measures, specifically those concerning the use of restraint and helmet and driving behavior. This study should be extended nationally to gain a larger case series so that the SCI risk of particular vehicle configurations, considering other crash factors, can be more precisely quantified and the characteristics for low occurrence of SCI can be more precisely identified.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of imatinib mesylate on cell viability, anti cancer effect through modulation of KAI1/CD82 gene expression in breast cancer MCF-7 cell ***: The effects of imatinib mesylate on cell viability in MCF-7 cell line were assessed using MTT assay and IC_(50) value was determined. GAPDH and KAI1/CD82 were selected as reference and target genes, respectively. Quantitative real time PCR technique was applied for investigation of KAI1/CD82 gene expression in human breast cancer MCF-7 cells. Subsequently, the quantity of KAI1 compared to GAPDH gene expressions were analyzed using the formula; 2^(-DDCt).Results: Imatinib was showed to have a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on the viability of MCF-7 cells. CD82/GAPDH gene expression ratios were 1.322 ± 0.030(P > 0.05),2.052 ± 0.200(P < 0.05), 2.151 ± 0.270(P < 0.05) for 10, 20 and 40 mmol/L of imatinib ***: Based on the present data, imatinib mesylate might modulate metastasis by up-regulating KAI1/CD82 gene expression in human breast MCF-7 cancer cell line.

Effect of Salvia officinalis Hydroalcoholic Extract on Vincristine-induced Neuropathy in Mice

AIM:Vincristine is one of the most commonly used chemotherapeutic drugs to treat a variety of malignant diseases,including leukemia and *** have shown that vincristine cause painful effects,whereas Salvia officinalis(SO) showed analgesic and anti-inflammatory *** aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the SO hydro-alcoholic extract on vincristine-induced peripheral neuropathy in mice in comparison with ***:Experiments were performed on 60 NMRI male mice weighing 25-30 g divided into six *** individual groups received normal saline,SO hydro-alcoholic extract,vincristine,SO hydro-alcoholic extract and vincristine(12 days before formalin test),morphine,and vincristine and morphine,*** injected hind paw biting and licking was measured in a 5-minute interval for one ***:The results showed that formalin induce significant(P < 0.05) pain responses(the first phase:0-5 min and the second phase:15-40 min after injection).Administration of SO extract before formalin test showed significant(P < 0.05) decrease of pain response in the second *** of vincristine caused significant(P < 0.05) increase in the second phase of pain *** of SO extract and vincristine showed that SO significantly(P < 0.05) decrease the second phase of vincristine-induced *** decreased vincristine-induced pain in the first and second phase of formalin test significantly(P < 0.05).In comparison,morphine showed analgesic effects in the first phase and SO extract showed significant(P < 0.05) anti-inflammatory effects in the second phase of formalin ***:Both SO and vincristine showed analgesic and painful neuropathic effects,suggesting that SO extract could be useful in the treatment of vincristine-induced peripheral neuropathic pain.
