Microplastics（MPs） are a new type of emerging pollutant in the aquatic environment that pose a tremendous risk to aquatic organisms and human health. Although many studies have focused on the removal of MPs, most of the materials used are non-renewable, non-degradable, and relatively costly. The development of green, renewable,and cost-effective materials for the removal of MPs presents a significant challenge. in this work, cellulose nanofiber-coated, delignified wood（CNF-CDW） was prepared and used as an efficient filter to remove MPs for the first time. Balsa wood chip was delignified through three approaches using NaClO2, Na2SO3/NaOH, and a deep eutectic solvent（DES） consisting of choline chloride/lactic acid. Delignified wood（DW） with desirable mechanical properties and a high pore structure was successfully prepared by optimizing the delignification method and reaction conditions. Subsequently, the CNF-CDW was prepared through immersion of DW in a suspension of cellulose nanofiber（CNF）, followed by crosslinking with CaCl2solutions. The effects of CNF concentration, CaCl2concentration, and wood chip thickness on the removal efficiency and flux of CNF-CDW towards polystyrene（PS）MPs were systematically studied. Under the optimal conditions of 0.5 wt% CNF, 1 mol/L CaCl2, and 10 mm in thickness, the CNF-CDW exhibited superior MPs removal performance, with a removal efficiency of 95.97% and a flux of 1146 L/m2·h. Morphological analysis revealed that CNF formed compact films on the surface DW, and MPs were efficiently blocked both on the surface and internal cellular structure of CNF-CDW. Therefore, with its exceptional filtration efficiency, high flux, and sustainable nature, CNF-CDW has a broad application prospect in the field of removing MPs from aquatic environment, promoting a brighter and cleaner future for aquatic ecosystems and human well-being.

in-site soil flushing and aeration are the typical synergetic remediation technology for contaminated *** surfactant present in flushing solutions is bound to affect the aeration *** purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of surfactant frequently used in soil flushing on the oxygen mass transfer in micro-nano-bubble(MNB)aeration ***,bio-surfactants and chemical surfactants were used to investigate their effects on Sauter mean diameter of bubble(dBS),gas holdup(ε),volumetric mass-transfer coefficient(kLa)and liquid-side mass-transfer coefficient(kL)in the MNB aeration ***,based upon the experimental results,the Sardeing's and Frossling's models were modified to describe the effect of surfactant on kL in the MNB *** results showed that,for the twenty aqueous surfactant solutions,with the increase in surfactant concentration,the value of dBS,kLa and kL decreased,while the value ofεand gas-liquid interfacial area(a)*** phenomena were mainly attributed to the synergistic effects of immobile bubble surface and the suppression of coalescence in the surfactant *** addition,with the presence of electric charge,MNBs in anionic surfactant solutions were smaller and higher in number than in non-ionic surfactant ***,the accumulation of surfactant on the gas-liquid interface was more conspicuous for small MNB,so the reduction of kL in anionic surfactant solutions was larger than that in non-ionic surfactant ***,the modified Frossling's model predicted the effect of surfactant on kL in MNB aeration system with reasonable accuracy.

The counterion-mediated hydrogen bonding(CMHB)is related to the hydrogen bonding between bound counterions and polyelectrolyte chains in polyelectrolyte systems,where the counterions can both electrostatically bind to the charged groups of polyelectrolyte chains and act as hydrogen bond donors or acceptors to form hydrogen bonds with the hydrogen bond sites associated with polyelectrolyte chains simultaneously.A large number of literatures illustrate that strong polyelectrolytes(SPs)are insensitive to pH,which severely limmits the applications of SPs as smart ***,our studies have demonstrated that the CMHB makes SPs *** perspective discusses the mechanism of pH responsiveness of SPs and the pH-tunable properties of SPs,based on the pH-controlled CMHB *** future research directions on the pH responsiveness of SPs are also discussed *** is anticipated that the study of the pH responsiveness of SPs not only will provide a new understanding of the fundamental properties of SPs,but also will greatly expand the applications of SPs in the field of smart materials.

it is known that different relationships exist between the strength and displacement of the stratospheric polar vortex(SPV),and the surface air temperature(SAT)patterns in Eurasia and North America,but the mechanisms behind these relationships remain unclear,especially on an interannual *** on empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analysis using NCEP reanalysis data over 1958–2018,this study attempts to ascertain the relationship between the SPV intensity and displacement over the Arctic and the SATs in the midlatitudes of the Northern *** results indicate that a strengthened SPV corresponds to an SAT increase in Eurasia and a decrease in eastern North America and *** the SPV is shifted towards Eurasia,however,a corresponding SAT increase occurs in both North America and Eurasia,with a larger increase in North America than in ***,a strengthened SPV tends to correspond to a positive North Atlantic Oscillation-like circulation in the troposphere with negative geopotential height(GH)anomalies in Greenland and eastern North American continent and positive GH anomalies to the north of 45°N in Eurasia,which corresponds to lower SATs in North America than in ***,when the SPV shifted towards Eurasia,it was accompanied by a positive Pacific/North American-like pattern with a deepened Aleutian low,which corresponds to the increasing SATs in North *** tropospheric circulation changes are related to the response of tropospheric planetary wave activity to the SPV.A strengthened SPV corresponds to the weakening of tropospheric planetary wave-1 waves,which is accompanied by a negative GH in North America but a positive GH in *** the SPV shifted towards Eurasia,the tropospheric planetary wave-1(-2)waves strengthened(weakened),and the combined effects of the planetary wave-1 and wave-2 waves would cause positive GH anomalies in both Eurasia and North America.

Fracture in ductile materials often occurs in conjunction with plastic ***,in the bond-based peridynamic(BB-PD)theory,the classic mechanical stress is not defined *** makes it difficult to describe plasticity directly using the classical plastic *** address the above issue,a unified bond-based peridynamics model was proposed as an effective tool to solve elastoplastic fracture *** to the existing models,the proposed model directly describes the elastoplastic theory at the bond level without the need for additional calculation *** results obtained in the context of this model are shown to be consistent with FEM results in regard to force-displacement curves,displacement fields,stress fields,and plastic deformation *** model exhibits good capability of capturing crack propagation in ductile material failure problems.

Host-induced Gene Silencing of Effector AGLiP1 Enhanced Resistance of Rice to Rhizoctonia solani AG1-iA

Rice sheath blight, caused by Rhizoctonia solani AG1-iA, is a major disease in rice-growing areas worldwide. Effectors of phytopathogenic fungi play important roles during the infection process of fungal pathogens onto their host plants. However, the molecular mechanisms by which R. solani effectors regulate rice immunity are not well understood. Through prediction, 78 candidate effector molecules were identified. Using the tobacco rattle virus-host induced gene silencing(TRV-HiGS) system, 45 RNAi constructs of effector genes were infiltrated into Nicotiana benthamiana leaves. The results revealed that eight of these constructs resulted in a significant reduction in necrosis caused by infection with the AG1-iA strain GD-118. Additionally, stable rice transformants carrying the double-stranded RNA construct for one of the effector genes, AGLiP1, were generated to further verify the function of this gene. The suppression of the AGLiP1 gene increased the resistance of both N. benthamiana and rice against GD-118, and also affected the growth rate of GD-118, indicating that AGLiP1 is a key pathogenic factor. Small RNA sequencing showed that the HiGS vectors were processed into si RNAs within the plants and then translocated to the fungi, leading to the silencing of the target genes. As a result, AGLiP1 might be an excellent candidate for HiGS, thereby enhancing crop resistance against the pathogen and contributing to the control of R. solani infection.

Self-Powered Flexible Multicolor Electrochromic Devices for information Displays

The development of self-powered flexible multicolor electrochromic(EC)systems that could switch different color without an external power supply has remained extremely ***,a new trilayer film structure for achieving self-powered flexible multicolor EC displays based on self-charging/discharging mechanism is proposed,which is simply assembled by sandwiching an ionic gel film between 2 cathodic nickel hexacyanoferrate(NiHCF)and Prussian blue(PB)nanoparticle films on indium tin oxide *** display exhibits independent self-powered color switching of NiHCF and PB films with fast responsive time and high reversibility by selectively connecting the Al wire as anodes with the 2 EC *** switching is thus achieved through a color overlay effect by superimposing the 2 EC films,including green,blue,yellow,and *** bleaching/coloration process of the displays is driven by the discharging/self-charging mechanism for NiHCF and PB films,respectively,ensuring the self-powered color switching of the displays reversibly without an external power *** is further demonstrated that patterns can be easily created in the self-powered EC displays by the spray-coating method,allowing multicolor changing to convey specific ***,a self-powered ionic writing board is demonstrated based on the self-powered EC displays that can be repeatedly written freehand without the need of an external power *** believe that the design concept may provide new insights into the development of self-powered flexible multicolor EC displays with self-recovered energy for widespread applications.
