Effects of temperature on fitness costs in chlorpyrifos-resistant brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens （Hemiptera： Delphacidae）

Insecticide resistance is inevitable if an insecticide is widely used to control insect pests. Fortunately, the resistance-associated fitness costs often give chances to manage resistances. In most cases, the fitness cost in resistant insects is often evaluated under laboratory conditions for insect development, which limits its practical application in pest control in the field. In a laboratory population R9 with 253-fold resistance to chlorpyrifos after nine-generation selection with chlorpyrifos, the relative fitness was only 0.206 under laboratory conditions （25℃, humidity 70%-80% and 16 h light/8 h dark photoperiod）, when compared to S9, a susceptible counterpart （resistance ratio = 2.25- fold） from the same origin as R9 but without any selection with insecticides. Temperatures varied the resistance-associated fitness costs, with enhanced costs at high temperatures and reduced costs at low temperatures, such as 0.174 at 32℃ and 0.527 at 18℃. The copulation rate and fecundity were two key factors for the reduced costs at low temperatures. Another finding was that R9 individuals needed much more time to recover from heat shock than that of S9, but R9 and $9 individuals were similarly sensitive to cold shock. The low fitness cost at low temperatures would increase the overwintering population, which might further increase risks of rapid development and widespread distribution of chlorpyrifos resistance in Nilaparvata lugens.

First principles study of post-boron carbide phases with icosahedra broken

Boron carbide (B4C) is a rhombic structure composed of icosahedra and atomic chains, which has an important application in armored materials. The application of B4C under super high pressure without failure is a hot spot of research. Previous studies have unmasked the essential cause of B4C failure, i.e., its structure will change subjected to impact, especially under the non-hydrostatic pressure and shear stress. However, the change of structure has not been clearly understood nor accurately determined. Here in this paper, we propose several B4C polymorphs including B4C high pressure phases with non-icosahedra, which are denoted as post-B4C and their structures are formed due to icosahedra broken and may be obtained through high pressure and high temperature (HPHT). The research of their physical properties indicates that these B4C polymorphs have outstanding mechanical and electrical properties. For instance, aP10, mC10, mP20, and oP10-B4C are conductive superhard materials. We hope that our research will enrich the cognition of high pressure structural deformation of B4C and broaden the application scope of B4C.

LM23 is a novel member of the Speedy/Ringo family at the ：rossroads of life and death of spermatogenic cell

LM23 is a gene specifically expressed in the testis of Rattus norvegicus, as previously reported by our laboratory. The aim of the study is to further investigate the biological function of LM23. Several bioinformatic tools were utilized, including PROSITE and BLAST. To determine the subcellullar localization of LM23, a polyclonal antibody specific for LM23 was generated via the immunization of rabbits. The LM23gene was cloned from rat testis tissue, and LM23 protein was expressed in Escherichia co/i. The biological function of LM23 was analyzed with microarray analysis and immunohistochemistry, using a rat model of LM23 gene knockdown. The results suggested that LM23 belongs to the Speedy/Ringo family. LM23 regulated the GI/S and G2/M transitions of the cell cycle during spermatogenesis. Downregulation of the LM23gene during spermatogenesis could lead to the activation of both the Fas-FasL pathway and the mitochondrial pathway. These novel findings indicate that LM23 has a diverse array of functions that are important in both the life and death of the spermatogenic cell.

Unmanned Ship Identification Based on Improved YOLOv8s Algorithm

Aiming at defects such as low contrast in infrared ship images,uneven distribution of ship size,and lack of texture details,which will lead to unmanned ship leakage misdetection and slow detection,this paper proposes an infrared ship detection model based on the improved YOLOv8 algorithm(R_YOLO).The algorithm incorporates the Efficient Multi-Scale Attention mechanism(EMA),the efficient Reparameterized Generalized-feature extraction module(CSPStage),the small target detection header,the Repulsion Loss function,and the context aggregation block(CABlock),which are designed to improve the model’s ability to detect targets at multiple scales and the speed of model *** algorithm is validated in detail on two vessel *** comprehensive experimental results demonstrate that,in the infrared dataset,the YOLOv8s algorithm exhibits improvements in various performance ***,compared to the baseline algorithm,there is a 3.1%increase in mean average precision at a threshold of 0.5(mAP(0.5)),a 5.4%increase in recall rate,and a 2.2%increase in mAP(0.5:0.95).Simultaneously,while less than 5 times parameters,the mAP(0.5)and frames per second(FPS)exhibit an increase of 1.7%and more than 3 times,respectively,compared to the CAA_YOLO ***,the evaluation indexes on the visible light data set have shown an average improvement of 4.5%.

Poly(3-hexylthio) thiophene Field-effect Transistor Device Performance: Impact of the Content of Hexylthio Side Chain on Backbone

Regioregular poly(3-hexylthio)thiopene(P3HTT) has emerged tremendous potential in organic electronic applications due to the strong noncovalent interactions from the sulfur atom linked to thiophene. However, P3HTT generally exhibits low charge mobility mostly due to poor solution processability attributed to dense arrangement of hexylthio side chain in polymer, which led to strong noncovalent interactions among sulfur atoms. To balance the nonvalent interaction and aggregation for P3HTT, herein, we systematically study the effect of hexylthio side chain content in polymer backbone on the structure and properties. A series of regioregular P3HTT-based homopolymers(P3HTT, P3HTT-50,P3HTT-33 and P3HTT-25) were prepared via Kumada catalyst transfer polycondensation method from a set of mono-, bi-, ter-and quarterthiophenes containing different contents of hexylthio side chain. The DFT calculation shows the planarity of polymers backbone could be improved through reducing the density of hexylthio side chain in polymer mainchain. And significant changes in their crystallinity, aggregation and optical properties were observed with the content of hexylthio side chain reducing. The P3HTT-33 displayed the highest field-effect transistor hole mobility of 2.83×10^(-2) cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1) resulting from a balance between the crystallinity and planarity. This study demonstrates modulating the content of hexylthio side chain in P3HTT is an effective strategy to optimize the opto-electronic properties of polymer obtaining excellent semiconductor device performance.

Safety and energy density are significant for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),and the flammable organic elec-trolyte is one of the most critical causes of the safety problem of *** LiNi0.8 Co 0.1 Mn 0.1 O 2(NCM811)cathode with high capacity can improve the energy density,the interface stability between NCM811 cathode and electrolytes needs to be ***,we report a multifunctional additive,diethyl(2-(triethoxysilyl)ethyl)phosphonate(DETSP),which can suppress the flammability of the elec-trolyte and enhance the cycling stability of NCM811 cathode with a capacity retention of 89.9%after 400 cycles at 1 C,while that of the blank electrolyte is merely 61.3%.In addition,DETSP is compati-ble well with the graphite anode without impairing the electrochemical ***,the performance and safety of NCM811/graphite full cells are also *** and theoretical re-sults demonstrate that DETSP can scavenge acidic byproducts and is beneficial to form a stable cathode-electrolyte interface(CEI).Accordingly,DETSP can potentially be an effective solution to ameliorating the safety of the commercial electrolyte and improving the stability of high-voltage cathodes.

Simotang enhances gastrointestinal motility,motilin and cholecystokinin expression in chronically stressed mice

Optimized the vanadium electrolyte with sulfate-phosphoric mixed acids to enhance the stable operation at high-temperature

Herein, the influence of the concentration design and comprehensive performance of the sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system electrolyte is investigated to realize an electrolyte that maintains high energy density and stable operation at high temperatures. Static stability tests have shown that VOPO4 precipitation occurs only with vanadium(V) electrolyte. The concentration of vanadium ion of 2.0–2.2 mol·L^(–1), phosphoric acid of 0.10–0.15 mol·L^(–1), and sulfuric acid of 2.5–3.0 mol·L^(–1) are suitable for a vanadium redox flow battery in the temperature range from –20 to 50 ℃. The equations for predicting the viscosity and conductivity of electrolytes are obtained by the response surface method. The optimized electrolyte overcomes precipitation generation. It has 2.8 times higher energy density than the non-phosphate electrolyte, and a coulomb efficiency of 94.0% at 50 ℃. The sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system electrolyte promotes the electrode reaction process, increases the current density, and reduces the resistance. This work systematically optimizes the concentrations of composition of positive and negative vanadium electrolytes with mixed sulfate-phosphoric acid. It provides a basis for the different valence states and comprehensive properties of sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system vanadium electrolytes under extreme environments, guiding engineering applications.
