Pulsed dynamic electrolysis enhanced PEMWE hydrogen production:Revealing the effects of pulsed electric fields on protons mass transport and hydrogen bubble escape

The transition of hydrogen sourcing from carbon-intensive to water-based methodologies is underway,with renewable energy-powered proton exchange membrane water electrolysis （PEMWE） emerging as the preeminent pathway for hydrogen *** remarkable advancements in this field,confronting the sluggish electrochemical kinetics and inherent high-energy consumption arising from deteriorated mass transport within PEMWE systems remains a formidable *** impediment stems primarily from the hindered protons mass transfer and the untimely hydrogen bubbles *** address these challenges,we harness the inherent variability of electrical energy and introduce an innovative pulsed dynamic water electrolysis *** to constant voltage electrolysis (hydrogen production rate:51.6 m L h-1,energy consumption:5.37 kWh Nm-3H2),this strategy (hydrogen production rate:66 m L h-1,energy consumption:3.83 kWh Nm-3H2) increases the hydrogen production rate by approximately 27%and reduces the energy consumption by about 28%.Furthermore,we demonstrate the practicality of this system by integrating it with an off-grid photovoltaic （PV） system designed for outdoor operation,successfully driving a hydrogen production current of up to 500 mA under an average voltage of approximately 2 *** combined results of in-situ characterization and finite element analysis reveal the performance enhancement mechanism:pulsed dynamic electrolysis （PDE） dramatically accelerates the enrichment of protons at the electrode/solution interface and facilitates the release of bubbles on the electrode *** such,PDE-enhanced PEMWE represents a synergistic advancement,concurrently enhancing both the hydrogen generation reaction and associated transport *** promising technology not only redefines the landscape of electrolysis-based hydrogen production but also holds immense potential for broadening its application across a diverse spectrum of electrocatalytic endeavors.

Infrared Polarization and Beaming Effect for BL Lac Objects

With the idea of the beaming models,we derive a relation between the observed polarization and Doppler-corrected magnitude,that is,the observed polarization is in anti-correlation with the Doppler-corrected *** use of the infrared data observed simultaneously by Impey et al.[***.200(1982)19;209(1984)245]and Holmes et al.[ibid.210(1984)961]we found that(1)there is a significant correlation between the observed maximum polarization and Doppler-corrected magnitude but the polarization is not in anti-correlation with the Doppler corrected magnitude;(2)the maximum infrared polarization is strongly correlated with the maximum optical *** conclusion is that the infrared polarization depends only on the degree of ordering of the magnetic field in the synchotron emission regions and not on the beaming *** infrared and optical emissions originate from the synchrotron radiation.

Effects of the shape and size of rectangular inclusions on the fatigue cracking behavior of ultra-high strength steels

The fatigue cracking behavior of ultra-high strength steels containing rectangular inclusions of small sizes were investigated based on in situ observations by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. The size and shape of rectangular inclusions affect markedly the initiation site and propagation path of a fatigue crack. Especially, the initiation site of a fatigue crack depends strongly on the angle between the long-axis of a rectangle inclusion and the loading direction, and the length/width ratio of this rectangle inclusion because the residual stress distribution fields vary with these conditions. The results coincide very well with those of finite element analysis.

4D Printing:History and Recent Progress

4D printing has attracted great interest since the concept was introduced in 2012. The past 5 years have witnessed rapid advances in both 4D printing processes and materials. Unlike 3D printing, 4D printing allows the printed part to change its shape and function with time in response to change in external conditions such as temperature, light, electricity, and water. In this review, we first overview the history of 4D printing and discuss its definition. We then summarize recent technological advances in 4D printing with focuses on methods, materials, and their intrinsic links. Finally, we discuss potential applications and offer perspectives for this exciting new field.

Two-dimensional ZrS2 materials have potential for applications in nanoelectronics because of their theoretically predicted high mobility and sheet current density. Herein, we report the thickness and temperature dependent transport properties of ZrS2 multilayers that were directly deposited on hexagonal boron nitride （h-BN） by chemical vapor deposition. Hysteresis-free gate sweeping, metal- insulator transition, and T-γ （γ- 0.82-1.26） temperature dependent mobility were observed in the ZrS2 films.

ScatterX:A software for fast processing of high-throughput small-angle scattering data

Scattering experiments become increasingly popular in modern scientific research,including the areas of materials,biology,chemistry,physics,***,various types of scattering facilities have been developed recently,such as labbased x-ray scattering equipment,national synchrotron facilities and large neutron *** above-mentioned trends bring up fast-increasing data amounts of scattering data,as well as different scattering types(x-ray,neutron,laser and even microwaves).To help researchers process and analyze scattering data more efficiently,we developed a general and model-free scattering data analysis software based on matrix operation,which has the unique advantage of high throughput scattering data processing,analysis and *** maximize generality and efficiency,data processing is performed based on a three-dimensional matrix,where scattering curves are saved as matrices or vectors,rather than the traditional definition of paired *** can not only realize image batch processing,background subtraction and correction,but also analyze data according to scattering theory and model,such as radius of gyration,fractal dimension and other physical *** the aspect of visualization,the software allows the modify the color maps of two-dimensional scattering images and the gradual color variation of one-dimensional curves to suit efficient data *** all,this new software can work as a stand-alone platform for researchers to process,analyze and visualize scattering data from different research facilities without considering different file types or *** codes in this manuscript are open-sourced and can be easily implemented in matrix-based software,such as MATLAB,Python and Igor.

Adsorption of Metsulfuron and Bensulfuron on a Cationic Surfactant-Modified Paddy Soil

Adsorption isotherms of metsulfuron and bensulfuron on a hexadecyltrimethylammonium （HDTMA） bromide-modified paddy soil under different ionic strengths, with divalent cation Cu^2＋, or having different pH were studied to describe their adsorptive behavior, and to try to explain the adsorption process of a sulfonylurea compound with a carbamoylsulfamoyl group in the modified soil environment. All the adsorption isotherms fitted the Freundlich equation well, and the HDTMA treatment of paddy soil dramatically enhanced adsorption capacity of metsulfuron or bensulfuron. Also, an increase of ionic strength and the addition of divalent heavy metal cation Cu^2＋ on the HDTMA-modified paddy soil increased the adsorption of metsulfuron or bensulfuron. Additionally, for metsulfuron and bensulfuron in the aqueous phase, adsorption capacity of the HDTMA-modified paddy soft gradually increased with decreasing pH.

Micromechanical properties of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)hydrogel microspheres determined using a simple method

Temperature-responsive poly（N-isopropylacrylamide）（PNIPAM） hydrogel microspheres have attracted extensive attention because of their promising diverse biomedical applications. A quantitative understanding of the micromechanical properties of these microspheres is essential for their practical application. Here, we report a simple method for the characterization of the elastic properties of PNIPAM hydrogel microspheres. The results show that PNIPAM hydrogel microspheres exhibit elastic deformation and the obtained force-deformation experimental data fits the Hertz theory well. The moduli of elasticity of the PNIPAM hydrogel microspheres prepared under different conditions were systematically investigated in this work for the first time. The PN1PAM hydrogel microsphere composition significantly affects their micromechanical properties and their temperature sensitivity behavior. PNIPAM hydrogel microspheres with a larger equilibrium volume change have a lower modulus of elasticity. The modulus of elasticity of the PNIPAM hydrogel microspheres at body temperature （37 ℃, above the lower critical solution temperature （LCST） of PNIPAM） is much higher than that at room temperature （25 ℃, below the LCST of PNIPAM） because ofthermo-induced volume shrinkage and an increase in stiffness. These results provide valuable guidance for the design of smart materials for practical biomedical applications. Moreover, the simple microcompression method presented here also provides a versatile way to investigate the micromechanical properties of microscopic biomedical materials.

Simulation study on the gasification process of Ningdong coal with iron-based oxygen carrier

Chemical looping gasification(CLG) of Ningdong coal by using Fe_(2) O_(3) as the oxygen carriers(OCs) was studied,and the gasification characteristics were obtained.A computation fluid dynamics(CFD) model based on Eulerian--Lagrangian multiphase framework was established,and a numerical simulation the coal chemical looping gasification processes in fuel reactor(FR) was *** addition,the heterogeneous reactions,homogeneous reactions and Fe_(2) O_(3) oxygen carriers' reduction reactions were considered in the gasification *** characteristics of gas flow and gasification in the FR were analyzed and it was found that the experiment results were consistent with the simulation *** results show that when the O/C mole rate was 0.5:1,the gasification temperature was 900℃ and the water vapor volume flow rate was 2.2 ml·min^(-1),the mole fraction of syngas reached a maximum value of the experimental result and simulation value were 71.5% and 70.2%,*** the O/C mole rate was 0.5:1,the gasification temperature was 900℃,and the water vapor volume flow was 1.8 ml·min^(-1);the gasification efficiency reached the maximum value was 62.2%,and the maximum carbon conversion rate was 84.0%.
