Objective:Health-care workers(HCWs)are known to be at high risk for occupational biological hazards,and this includes exposure to mycobacterium tuberculosis(TB)which can result in either active or latent TB infection(LTBI).This study aims to provide an overview of the incidence of LTBI among HCWs in Brunei Darussalam,to examine associated risk factors,and to evaluate LTBI treatment *** and Methods:This is a retrospective cross-sectional study which was conducted using data from January 2018 to December 2021,on notified cases of LTBI in HCWs which identified 115 *** data,underlying medical conditions,and compliance to treatment were assessed through reviews of their electronic health ***:The incidence of LBTI was 14.6/year/1000 *** incidence rate reached a high of 24.6/1000 in 2020,and majority of cases were in the older age *** was good treatment acceptance and compliance(82.6%),and this was observed to be significantly higher in females than males(P=0.02).Conclusion:This study showed an average incidence of LTBI of 14.6/1000 HCWs over 4 years and high LTBI treatment acceptance(82.6%)and *** on infection prevention and control measures in health-care settings and actions to increase awareness of LTBI are crucial interventions toward reducing the burden of LTBI.

Objective To investigate the role and molecular mechanism of exosomal miR-224-5p in colorectal cancer(CRC).Methods The miR-224-5p expression in CRC patient tissues and cell-derived exosomes was measured by laser capture microdissection and qRT-PCR,***-luciferase reporter gene assay was used to determine the target gene of *** protein expressions of p53 and unc-51 like kinase 2(ULK2)in CRC cells were detected by western *** cytometry was used to detect cell cycle and *** proliferation was measured by CCK8 and EdU *** The miR-224-5p expression was upregulated in CRC tissues and increased progressively with the rise of CRC *** cells secreted extracellular miR-224-5p mainly in an exosome-dependent manner,and then miR-224-5p could be transferred to surrounding tumor cells to regulate cell proliferation in the form of autocrine or ***,ULK2 was characterized as a direct target of miR-224-5p and was downregulated in CRC ***,ULK2 inhibited CRC cell proliferation in a p53-dependent ***,exosome-derived miR-224-5p partially reversed the proliferation regulation of ULK2 on CRC *** Our findings demonstrate that exosome-transmitted miR-224-5p promotes p53-dependent cell proliferation by targeting ULK2 in CRC,which may offer promising targets for CRC prevention and therapy.

A 48-year-old Indian male with alcoholic liver cirrhosis was admitted after being found unresponsive. He was hypotensive and had hematochezia. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) showed small esophageal varices and a clean-based duodenal ulcer. He continued to have hematochezia and anemia despite blood transfusions. Colonoscopy was normal. Repeat EGD did not reveal any source of recent bleed. Twelve days after admission, his hematochezia ceased. He refused further investigation and was discharged two days later. He presented one week after discharge with hematochezia. EGD showed non-bleeding Grade 1 esophageal varices and a clean-based duodenal ulcer. Colonoscopy was normal. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) showed liver cirrhosis with mild ascites, paraumbilical varices, and splenomegaly. He had multiple episodes of hematochezia, requiring repeated blood transfusions. Capsule endoscopy identified the bleeding site in the jejunum. Concurrently, CT angiography showed paraumbilical varices inseparable from a loop of small bowel, which had herniated through an umbilical hernia. The lumen of this loop of small bowel opacified in the delayed phase, which suggested variceal bleeding into the small bowel. Portal vein thrombosis was present. As he had severe coagulopathy and extensive paraumbilical varices, surgery was of high risk. He was not suitable for transjugular intrahepatic porto-systemic shunt as he had portal vein thrombosis. Percutaneous paraumbilical embolization via caput medusa was performed on day 9 of hospitalization. Following the embolization, the hematochezia stopped. However, he defaulted subsequent follow-up.

This paper reports the study of crumb rubber drying in different experimental *** is important to understand the characteristics of crumb rubber drying in order to formulate a better drying strategy that could give higher energy *** experiments were carried out with constant heat at maximum 100℃ and a stainless steel container was used to hold the sample of crumb rubber under *** surface temperature profile of the rubber was investigated using two types of drying methods,normal hot air drying and vacuum *** was found that when the sample was dried,external surface temperature for drying with hot air dryer was higher than vacuum *** results showed the evolution of temperature profile was not in good agreement with the prediction which revealed that there was no temperature gradient within the drying *** energy consumption for vacuum drying was higher compared to hot air drying,where there was a difference of 0.7079 MJ/kg H2O evaporated for drying temperature at 100℃.The best fit model generated from the experimental data was the modified Henderson and Pabis model and the highest effective diffusivity obtained was 5.243×10^-9m^2/s heating by vacuum oven at 90℃ under zero atmospheric pressure.

Topological superconductors are an intriguing and elusive quantum phase,characterized by topologically protected gapless surface/edge states residing in a bulk superconducting gap,which hosts Majorana ***,all currently known topological superconductors have a very low transition temperature,limiting experimental measurements of Majorana *** we discover the existence of a topological Dirac–nodal-line state in a well-known conventional high-temperature superconductor,MgB_(2).First-principles calculations show that the Dirac–nodal-line structure exhibits a unique one-dimensional dispersive Dirac–nodal line,protected by both spatial-inversion and time-reversal symmetry,which connects the electron and hole Dirac *** importantly,we show that the topological superconducting phase can be realized with a conventional s-wave superconducting gap,evidenced by the topological edge mode of the MgB_(2) thin films showing chiral edge *** discovery may enable the experimental measurement of Majorana fermions at high temperature.

The Malaysian mahseer(Tor tambroides),one of the most valuable freshwater fish in the world,is mainly targeted for human *** mitogenomic data of this species is available to date,but the genomic information is still *** the first time,we sequenced the whole genome of an adult fish on both Illumina and Nanopore *** hybrid genome assembly had resulted in a sum of 1.23 Gb genomic sequence from the 44,726 contigs found with 44 kb N50 length and BUSCO genome completeness of 87.6%.Four types of SSRs had been detected and identified within the genome with a greater AT abundance than that of *** protein sequences had been functionally annotated to public databases,namely GO,KEGG and COG.A maximum likelihood phylogenomic tree containing 52 Actinopterygii species and one Sarcopterygii species as outgroup was constructed,providing first insights into the genome-based evolutionary relationship of *** with other ray-finned *** data are crucial in facilitating the study of population genomics,species identification,morphological variations,and evolutionary biology,which are helpful in the conservation of this species.

AIM: To investigate the accuracy of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in diagnosing lamivudine resistance and factors that contributed to abnormal serum ***: This was a retrospective study of chronic hepatitis B patients on lamivudine therapy who were followed for 3-mo with liver function tests and hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA measurement. Lamivudine resistance was defined as HBV DNA ≥ 1 log from nadir on at least 2 occasions, confirmed by genotyping. Serum ALT levels in patients with lamivudine resistance were compared to serum ALT levels in those without lamivudine resistance. RESULTS: There were 111 patients with and 117 without lamivudine resistance. The area under the receiver operating characteristic of serum ALT to diagnose lamivudine resistance was 0.645 ± 0.037. Serum ALT > 42.5 U/L gave the best diagnostic accuracy with sensitivity = 61%, specificity = 60%, positive predictive value = 60%, negative predictive value = 61%, positive likelihood ratio = 1.53 and negative likelihood ratio = 0.65 for predicting lamivudine resistance, missing 39% of resistant patients. Using other serum ALT cutoffs, diagnostic accuracy was lower. By multivariate analysis, baseline abnormal serum ALT was associated with abnormal ALT during resistance (OR = 5.98, P = 0.003), and males were associated with serum ALT flares during resistance (OR = 8.9, P = 0.016). CONCLUSION: Serum ALT is inadequate for diagnosing lamivudine resistance and has implications where viral resistance testing is suboptimal and for reimbursement of rescue therapy.

The drying kinetics of Roselle （Hibiscus sabdariffa L） of variety Terengganu （UMKL-1） and the quality attribution of Roselle were studied. The experiments were conducted using four different drying methods, including solar greenhouse drying （SD）, solar greenhouse with intermittent heat pump drying （SIHP）, hot air drying （HA） and heat pump drying （HP）. Among the four drying methods, HP achieved the highest drying rate at a range from 0.054 g H20-（g DM）-1. rain-1 to 0.212 g H20-（g DM）-1. rain 1 while SD had the lowest drying rate, measured at 0.042 g H2O. （g DM） ***- 1. The analysis on colour kinetics revealed that there is no significant colour loss （p 〉 0.05） observed from HP＇s dried Roselle. Greater amount of flavonoid compounds i.e. protocatechuic acid was found in SD and SIHP dried finished product whereas HP＇s dried Roselle contains higher percentage of catechin as compared to other drying methods.
