Techno-economic-environmental comparison of floating photovoltaic plant with conventional solar photovoltaic plant in northern Iran

Photovoltaic(PV)systems can be used to generate electricity due to the potential for solar energy in Iran.Applying floating photovol-taic(FPV)systems is a new approach to utilizing PV systems in water.Most of Iran’s energy consumption is supplied from fossil fuels,especially oil and gas.In recent years,Iran has faced environmental problems and air pollution.Electricity generation using fossil fuels has led to increased environmental pollution.Accordingly,PV systems can be used to generate electricity due to the potential for solar energy in Iran.The interest in predicting the energy production of PV power plants has increased in recent years.In this regard,the techno-economic-environmental study of constructing PV power plants is a basic process to encourage people to use solar energy.A techno-economic-environmental feasibility study has been performed to construct a 5-kW FPV and ground PV(GPV)power plant in a northern city of Iran.Also,the FPV system is compared with the ground PV system using MATLAB^(■)Simulink and RETScreen^(■)software.In this study,the effects of wind and water temperature have been considered.Also,a sensitivity analysis was performed due to the uncertainty in climatic conditions and the amount of PV energy generation.The simulation results show that due to the cooling effect for panels in the FPV system,the production capacity and panels’efficiency are respectively 19.47%and 27.98%higher than the those of the GPV system.In addition,the FPV system was found to have a 16.96%increase in the annual performance ratio.Overall,using the FPV system reduces the equity payback to 6.3 years(a 22.2%reduction compared to the GPV power plant).

Inverters play a significant role in the configuration of grid-connected photovoltaic(PV)systems.The perturb-and-observe(P&O)algorithm is a common method to derive the maximum power from grid-connected inverters;however,the possibility of losing maximum power due to sudden changes in radiation is a significant drawback of this control strategy.To overcome this barrier,the two-stage multi-string inverter using the ZETA DC-DC converter and a novel P&O algorithm has been proposed to increase the efficiency of these systems.The proposed inverter has been simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK software.To investigate the performance of the proposed inverter,technical,environmental and economic feasibility studies have been performed for the construction of a 5-kW PV power plant in a northern city of Iran(Sari)using the RETScreen software developed by Natural Resources Canada.On the other hand,most feasibility studies for power-plant construction are based on the concept of inverter peak efficiency,which leads to non-optimal system design due to the short operation duration of the inverter at this value.However,the weighted European efficiency has been used in the feasibility study for more accurate computations.Moreover,the performance of the proposed inverter is compared to that of a two-stage multi-string inverter using a conventional P&O algorithm and the single-stage(central)inverter.The simulation results indicated that the proposed inverter injects 7.6 MW of power into the grid per year.Moreover,it prevents the emission of 88 tons of CO_(2)(over 20 years),which is equivalent to saving 1883.5 litres of gasoline per year.

Synergistic effect of adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of oilfield-produced water by electrospun photocatalytic fibers of Polystyrene/Nanorod-Graphitic carbon nitride

Graphitic carbon nitride with nanorod structure(Nr-GCN)was synthesized using melamine as a precursor without any other reagents by hydrothermal pretreatment method.XRD,FTIR,SEM,N_(2)adsorption-desorption from BET,UV-Vis DRS spectroscopy,and photoluminescence were used to characterize the prepared samples.Also,the photoelectrochemical behavior of nanoparticles was studied by photocurrent transient response and cyclic voltammetry analysis.Polystyrene(PS)fibrous mat was fabricated by electrospinning technique and used as a support for the stabilization of the nanoparticles.The performance of the synthesized nanoparticles and photocatalytic fibers(PS/Nr-GCN)was evaluated in oilfield-produced water treatment under visible light irradiation.During this process,oil contaminants were adsorbed by hydrophobic polystyrene fibers and simultaneously degraded by Nr-GCN.The removal efficiency of chemical oxygen demand(COD)has been obtained 96.6%and 98.4%by Nr-GCN and PS/Nr-GCN,respectively,at the optimum conditions of pH4,photocatalyst dosage 0.5 g/L,COD initial concentration 550 mg/L,and illumination time 150 min.The gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy analysis results showed 99.3%removal of total petroleum hydrocarbons using photocatalytic fibers of PS/Nr-GCN.The results demonstrated that the GCN has outstanding features like controllable morphology,visible-light-driven,and showing high potential in oily wastewater remediation.Moreover,the synergistic effect of adsorption and photocatalytic degradation is an effective technique in oilfield-produced water treatment.

A protocol of quantum dense coding with gravitational cat states is proposed.We explore the effects of temperature and system parameters on dense coding capacity and provide an efficient strategy to preserve the quantum advantage of dense coding for these states.Our results may open new opportunities for secure communication and insights into the fundamental nature of gravity in the context of quantum information processing.

Molecular investigation of exoU and exoY virulence genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa collected from hospitalized patients in North of Iran:A descriptive-analytical study

Objective:To investigate the frequency of exoU and exoY genes in patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection.Methods:In this study,100 clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were collected from patients hospitalized in educational-therapeutic hospitals and were identified using standard microbiological tests.Then,the antibiotic resistance pattern of the isolates was determined by the disk agar diffusion method.The bacterial DNAs were extracted by the alkaline lysis method.Finally,the presence of exoU and exoY genes was evaluated by the PCR test.Results:In this study,47%,72%,29%,39%,40%,and 44%of the isolates were non-susceptible to piperacillin,aztreonam,ceftazidime,imipenem,tobramycin,and ciprofloxacin,respectively.In addition,95%and 93%of the clinical isolates carried the exoU and exoY genes.Blood and fecal isolates had both virulence genes,while only one wound isolate had neither genes.Meanwhile,all urinary isolates contained the exoY gene and only one isolate lacked the exoU gene.Also,88 isolates simultaneously had both exoU and exoY genes.Conclusions:High prevalence of exoU and exoY genes in this region indicates a significant role of typeⅢsecretion system in pathogenesis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.The typeⅢsecretion system may be a suitable target to reduce the pathogenicity of this bacterium.

Hyperspectral(HS)image classification plays a crucial role in numerous areas including remote sensing(RS),agriculture,and the monitoring of the environment.Optimal band selection in HS images is crucial for improving the efficiency and accuracy of image classification.This process involves selecting the most informative spectral bands,which leads to a reduction in data volume.Focusing on these key bands also enhances the accuracy of classification algorithms,as redundant or irrelevant bands,which can introduce noise and lower model performance,are excluded.In this paper,we propose an approach for HS image classification using deep Q learning(DQL)and a novel multi-objective binary grey wolf optimizer(MOBGWO).We investigate the MOBGWO for optimal band selection to further enhance the accuracy of HS image classification.In the suggested MOBGWO,a new sigmoid function is introduced as a transfer function to modify the wolves’position.The primary objective of this classification is to reduce the number of bands while maximizing classification accuracy.To evaluate the effectiveness of our approach,we conducted experiments on publicly available HS image datasets,including Pavia University,Washington Mall,and Indian Pines datasets.We compared the performance of our proposed method with several state-of-the-art deep learning(DL)and machine learning(ML)algorithms,including long short-term memory(LSTM),deep neural network(DNN),recurrent neural network(RNN),support vector machine(SVM),and random forest(RF).Our experimental results demonstrate that the Hybrid MOBGWO-DQL significantly improves classification accuracy compared to traditional optimization and DL techniques.MOBGWO-DQL shows greater accuracy in classifying most categories in both datasets used.For the Indian Pine dataset,the MOBGWO-DQL architecture achieved a kappa coefficient(KC)of 97.68%and an overall accuracy(OA)of 94.32%.This was accompanied by the lowest root mean square error(RMSE)of 0.94,indicating very precise predictions with minimal error.In the case of t

Analysis of reputation-based mining paradigm under dishonest mining attacks

Since the introduction of Bitcoin,numerous studies on Bitcoin mining attacks have been conducted,and as a result,many countermeasures to these attacks have been proposed.The reputation-based mining paradigm is a comprehensive countermeasure solution to this problem with the goal of regulating the mining process and preventing mining attacks.This is accomplished by incentivizing miners to avoid dishonest mining strategies using reward and punishment mechanisms.This model was validated solely based on game theoretical analyses,and the real-world implications of this model are not known due to the lack of empirical data.To shed light on this issue,we designed a simulated mining platform to examine the effectiveness of the reputation-based mining paradigm through data analysis.We implemented block withholding attacks in our simulation and ran the following three scenarios:Reputation mode,non-reputation mode,and no attack mode.By comparing the results from these three scenarios,interestingly,we found that the reputation-based mining paradigm decreases the number of block withholding attacks,and as a result,the actual revenue of individual miners becomes closer to their theoretical expected revenue.In addition,we observed that the confidence interval test can effectively detect block withholding attacks;however,the test also results in a small number of false positive cases.Since the effectiveness of the reputation-based model relies on attack detection,further research is needed to investigate the effect of this model on other dishonest mining strategies.

Incidence and pattern of traumatic spine injury in a single level I trauma center of southern Iran

Purpose:Spine injury is one of the leading causes of death and mortality worldwide.The objective of this study was to determine the incidence,pattern and outcome of trauma patients with spine injury referred to the largest trauma center in southern Iran during the last 3 years.Methods:This is a cross-sectional study conducted between March 2018 and June 2021 in the largest trauma center in the southern Iran.The data collection form included the age,sex,injury location(cervical,thoracic,and lumbar),cause of injury(traffic accidents,falls,and assaults),length of hospital stay,injured segment of spine injury,severity of injury,and outcome.Statistical analyzes were performed using SPSS software version 24.Results:Totally 776 cases of spine injury were identified.The spine injury rate was 17.0%,and the mortality rate was 15.5%.Cervical spine injury(20.4%)more often occulted in motorcycle accident,and thoracic spine injury(20.1%)occulted in falls.The highest and lowest rates of spine injurys were related to lumbar spine injury(30.2%)and cervical spine injury(21.5%),respectively.There was a statistically significant relationship between the mechanism of injury and the location of spine injury(p<0.001).And patients with lumbar spine injury had the highest mortality rate(16.7%).Injury severity score(OR=1.041,p<0.001)and length of stay(OR=1.018,p<0.001)were strong predictors of mortality in trauma patients with spine injury.Conclusion:The results of the study showed that the incidence of traumatic spine injury rate was approximately 17.0%in southern of Iran.Road traffic injury and falls are the common mechanism of injury to spine.It is important to improve the safety of roads,and passengers,as well as work envi-ronment,and improve the quality of cars.Also,paying attention to the pattern of spine injury may assist to prevent the missing diagnosis of spine injury in multiple trauma patients.

Evaluation of the stability of terraced slopes in clayey gravel soil using a novel numerical technique

Conventional geotechnical software limits the use of the strength reduction method(SRM)based on the Mohr–Coulomb failure criterion to analyze the slope safety factor(SF).The use of this constitutive model is impractical for predicting the behavior of all soil types.In the present study,an innovative numerical technique based on SRM was developed to determine SF using the finite element method and considering the extended Cam–clay constitutive model for clayey gravel soil as opposed to the Mohr–Coulomb model.In this regard,a novel user subroutine code was employed in ABAQUS to reduce the stabilizing forces to determine the failure surfaces and resist and drive shear stresses on a slope.After validating the proposed technique,it was employed to investigate the performance of terraced slopes in the context of a case study.The impacts of geometric parameters and different water table elevations on the SF were examined.The results indicated that an increase in the upper and lower slope heights led to a decrease in SF,and a slight increase in the horizontal offset led to an increase in the SF.Moreover,when the water table elevation was lower than the toe of the terraced slope,the SF increased because of the increase in the uplift force as a resistant component.

State identification of home appliance with transient features in residential buildings

Nonintrusive load monitoring(NILM)is crucial for extracting patterns of electricity consumption of household appliance that can guide users9 behavior in using electricity while their privacy is respected.This study proposes an online method based on the transient behavior of individual appliances as well as system steady-state characteristics to estimate the operating states of the appliances.It determines the number of states for each appliance using the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise(DBSCAN)method and models the transition relationship among different states.The states of the working appliances are identified from aggregated power signals using the Kalman filtering method in the factorial hidden Markov model(FHMM).Thereafter,the identified states are confirmed by the verification of system states,which are the combination of the working states of individual appliances.The verification step involves comparing the total measured power consumption with the total estimated power consumption.The use of transient features can achieve fast state inference and it is suitable for online load disaggregation.The proposed method was tested on a high-resolution data set such as Labeled hlgh-Frequency daTaset for Electricity Disaggregation(LIFTED)and it outperformed other related methods in the literature.
