In this editorial,I address the mental health status of patients who have been discharged from intensive care units(ICUs)after battling coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).An ICU admission is generally a stressful experience,and for severe COVID-19 survivors prolonged treatment in the ICU can lead to significant psychological *** individuals may experience psychiatric distress,including symptoms such as insomnia,anxiety,depression,and even posttraumatic psychological *** indicates that during the first 6 months to 1 year following an ICU stay,nearly one-third of survivors exhibit symptoms similar to those of depression and post-traumatic stress *** factors may have contributed to the development of depressive and anxious symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic,particularly for those who underwent an ICU *** ICU environment itself is inherently stressful,filled with the constant noise of various medical *** have provided strong evidence that the prolonged need for ventilation support and the loss of freedom of movement are key factors in the development of psychological problems among COVID-19 patients who had been treated in the ICU.

Effect of Applied Current Density on Morphological and Structural Properties of Electrodeposited fe-Cu films

A detailed study has been carried out to investigate the effect of applied current density on the composition, crystallographic structure, grain size, and surface morphology of fe-Cu films. X-ray diffraction （XRD） results show that the films consist of a mixture of face-centered cubic （fcc） Cu and body centered cubic （bcc） ^-fe phases. The average crystalline size of both fe and Cu particles decreases as the applied current density becomes more negative. Compositional analysis of fe-Cu films indicates that the fe content within the films increases with decreasing current density towards more negative values. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and atomic force microscopy （AfM） have been used to investigate the surface morphology of fe-Cu films. It is observed that the surface morphology of the films changes from dendritic structure to a cauliflower structure as the applied current density becomes more negative. The surface roughness and grain size of the fe-Cu films decrease with decreasing applied current density towards more negative values.

Surface morphology and its relationship with microstructure in Ta/Nife/IrMn/Cofe/Ta multilayer system deposited by pulsed DC magnetron sputtering have been investigated in dependence of Ta buffer and Nife seed layer thicknesses using atomic force microscopy. The structural parameters such as grain size, dislocation density, texture and strain were calculated. for each surface, a self-affinity behavior with mean fractal dimensions in the range of 2.03-2.18 was found. Additionally, it was also observed that the surface of all samples has locally smooth textured surface structure in the short range. The texture aspect parameter and texture direction index have been obtained for isotropy/anisotropy surface texture. A significant relationship between the surface texture and the strength of the 〈111〉 texture in IrMn layer has been found. The analysis indicated that the surface roughness is strongly affected by the thicknesses of the Nife seed and Ta buffer layers.

Leptin and NUCB2/Nesfatin-1 in Acute Appendicitis

Objective: Appetite loss is seen in 90% to 95% of patients with acute appendicitis;however, the cause of this symptom remains unknown. This study is performed to determine whether changes in the blood levels of two anorexigenic hormones, leptin and NUCB2/nesfatin-1, can help to diagnose acute appendicitis in children and whether these two parameters can distinguish acute appendicitis from abdominal pain. Methods: Sixty children with comparable ages and body mass indices are divided into three groups of 20 children each: those with acute appendicitis, those with abdominal pain, and controls. The blood sample with acute appendicitis is taken preoperatively (T1), and subsequent samples are taken 24 hrs postoperatively (T2) and 3 days postoperatively (T3). The blood sample with abdominal pain subjects is also taken in the corresponding times with those with acute appendicitis while blood sample from controls is only taken in the T1 corresponding time. Leptin and NUCB2/nesfatin-1 levels are measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: The serum leptin levels are significantly higher preoperatively than postoperatively in all three groups. The NUCB2/nesfatin-1 levels at T1 in acute appendicitis are significantly higher than those at T2 in all three groups, but are restored at T3 to levels similar to those of controls. Neutrophil percentage has a sensitivity of 100%, and specificity of 76.32%, NUCB2/nesfatin-1 level has a sensitivity of 47% and specificity of 95%, and the leptin level has a sensitivity of 64% and specificity of 51% in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Conclusions: High preoperative leptin and NUCB2/nesfatin-1 levels may be a causative factor for appetite suppression observed in patients with acute appendicitis. High preoperative and low postoperative serum leptin and NUCB2/nesfatin-1 concentrations may serve as new candidate biomarkers that help to distinguish acute appendicitis from abdominal pain in children in addition to high CRP concentr

Most primary aortoduodenal fistulas occur in the presence of an aortic aneurysm,which can be part of immunoglobulin G4(IgG4)-related sclerosing *** present a case who underwent endovascular grafting of an aortoduodenal fistula associated with a high serum IgG4 level.A 56-year-old male underwent urgent endovascular reconstruction of an aortoduodenal *** patient received antibiotics and other supportive therapy,and the postoperative course was uneventful,however,elevated levels of serum IgG,IgG4 and C-reactive protein were noted,which normalized after the introduction of steroid *** computed tomography angiography showed no *** primary aortoduodenal fistula may have been associated with IgG4-related sclerosing disease as a possible complication of IgG4-related inflammatory aortic *** grafting of a primary aortoduodenal fistula is an effective and minimally invasive alternative to standard surgical repair.

AIM: To investigate the tolerance development against the relaxant effect of nitric oxide donating drug isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN) and sodium nitropruside (SNP) in internal anal sphincter (IAS) smooth muscle. METHODS: Relaxation responses of ISDN, and electrical fi eld stimulation (EfS) were obtained before and after tolerance induction by ISDN incubation. RESULTS: ISDN (10-7-10-4 mol/L) and SNP (10-8-10-4 mol/L) caused a concentration-dependent relaxation on the basal tonus of the isolated rabbit IAS strips. After a period of 2 h incubation of the 6 x 10-4 mol/L ISDN the relaxation effects of ISDN and SNP did not change compared to control strips. EfS evoked frequency-dependent relaxation in internal anal sphincter smooth muscle and Emax obtained from control strips were not changed in ISDN tolerance-inducing condition. In this study nitrate tolerance was not observed in rabbit IAS smooth muscle. CONCLUSION: This result shows that nitric oxide donating drugs relaxes the internal anal sphincter of the rabbits without the development of tolerance.

At present,the prevalence of diabetes is increasing because the human body cannot metabolize the glucose *** prediction of diabetes patients is an important research *** researchers have proposed techniques to predict this disease through data mining and machine learning *** prediction,feature selection is a key concept in ***,the features that are relevant to the disease are used for *** condition improves the prediction *** the right features in the whole feature set is a complicated process,and many researchers are concentrating on it to produce a predictive model with high *** this work,a wrapper-based feature selection method called recursive feature elimination is combined with ridge regression(L2)to form a hybrid L2 regulated feature selection algorithm for overcoming the overfitting problem of data *** is a major problem in feature selection,where the new data are unfit to the model because the training data are *** regression is mainly used to overcome the overfitting *** features are selected by using the proposed feature selection method,and random forest classifier is used to classify the data on the basis of the selected *** work uses the Pima Indians Diabetes data set,and the evaluated results are compared with the existing algorithms to prove the accuracy of the proposed *** accuracy of the proposed algorithm in predicting diabetes is 100%,and its area under the curve is 97%.The proposed algorithm outperforms existing algorithms.
