Potato tuber moth[Phthorimae operculella Zeller(Lep.:Gelechiidae)]is the most important insect causing damage of *** also causes significant damage to tomato and *** application of plant extracts to control insects is an effective *** this study,the efficacy of extracts from Leptospermum petersonii Bailey(Myrtaceae),Achillea wilhelmsii ***(Asteraceae)and Tanacetum parthenium L.(Asteraceae)on potato tuber moth using two different methods was *** were used to determine the effect of varying concentrations(for *** 0.05%,0.1%,0.3%and 0.4%,for *** and *** 1%,3%,6%and 12%)of *** were carried out using potato tuber of solanum tuberosum *** instar larva of about were used in tuber dipping and larvae dipping *** tuber dipping method,the highest mortality(100%)occurred at concentration of 0.4%while the smallest mortality was at 0.05%the extracts of *** was determined that the extract of *** and *** had the highest mortality at the highest concentration 85%and 90%*** larva dipping method,the extracts of *** and *** showed the highest mortality at the highest concentrations 100%,82%and 87%*** research was undertaken under laboratory conditions at the Plant Protection Central Research Institute.

Heart failure is common in older people and its prevalence is *** Heart ＇omics＇ in AGEing（HOMAGE） project aims to provide a biomarker approach that will improve the early diagnosis of heart failure.A large clinical database,based on（1） prospective population studies or（2） cross-sectional,prospective studies or randomized controlled trials（RCTs） of patients at risk for or with overt cardiovascular disease will be constructed to determine most promising ＇omics＇-based biomarkers to identify the risk of developing heart failure and/or *** studies,patient cohorts and RCTs are eligible for inclusion in the common database,if they received ethical approval to obtain and share data and have baseline information on cardiovascular risk ***,the HOMAGE database includes 43,065 subjects,from 20 studies in eight European countries,including healthy subjects from three population studies in France,Belgium and Italy（n = 7,124）,patients with heart failure（n = 4,312） from four cohorts in the UK,spain and switzerland and patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease（n = 31,629） in 13 *** is anticipated that more partners will join the consortium and enlarge the pooled *** large merged database will be a useful resource with which to identify candidate biomarkers that play a role in the mechanism underlying the onset and progression of heart failure.

Effect of mixed-cropping and water-stress on macro-nutrients and biochemical constituents of rhizomatous medicinal plants in Central Himalaya,India

Plants in the alpine zone mainly depend on the reserved food materials stored in their rhizomes for the next growing season. We investigated the effect of mixed cropping （Phaseolus vulgaris L. var. Pinto） with four rhizomatous medicinal plants, i.e., Angelica glauca, Arnebia benthamii, Rheum emodi and Pleurospermum angelicoides as well as three levels of water stress treatment under two conditions （shade net and open field） on macronutrients （NPK） and biochemicals （carbohydrates and protein）. The experiment was conducted by completely randomized design （CDR）. The data were analyzed with ANOVA as well as CDR. The experimental results show that in all the species shade conditions with sever water stress （ssWs） increased the level of macronutrients （NPK）. However, （N） concentration was highest under shade with mixed cropping （sMIX）. Under sMIX, carbohydrate content was highest than open field control conditions （CONT）. This investigation results demon- strate that mixed cropping of medicinal plants with Phaseolus vulgaris could be a good livelihood option in the mountainous regions of Indian Central Himalaya. And the water-stress conditions along with mixed cropping could improve the biochemical constituents in the rhizome of these species.

技术进步和创新是经济增长的重要动力,与金融危机相伴而生的是经济增长和产出的永久性损失。本文研究金融危机对创新活动的影响。通过分析行业专利的跨国面板数据,我们发现金融市场动荡对专利活动的影响主要是通过融资渠道实现的。具体来说,我们发现银行危机之后,在对外部融资依赖度更高的行业,专利下降幅度更大。但在货币危机、主权债务危机或更为普遍的经济衰退期间,融资渠道并不起作用,这表明银行活动中断对创新投资至关重要。从经济上讲,对专利活动的影响会很大且持续很长时间。在银行危机结束后的10年甚至更长时间,专利的数量和质量都在下降,但专利的平均质量似乎并没有下降。我们证明了这种结论不大可能是由反向因果关系或变量遗漏等原因所造成的。这些发现证明了银行危机与观察到的长期增长下降之间有相关性。银行危机之后的流动性支持似乎能在短期内通过融资渠道减少对经济的影响。

BACKGROUND:Epileptic seizures account for 1%–2% of all admissions of patients to the emergency department(ED). The present study aimed to determine whether venous blood pH,bicarbonate,base excess,and lactate levels taken within 1 hour of the last seizure episode help to determine seizure recurrence in emergency ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted in the emergency department(ED) between January and July,2012. Patients who were admitted to the emergency department consecutively were included in the study if they were 14 years or older and within 1 hour after last seizure. Demographics,seizure type,use of antiepileptic drugs,observation period at the emergency department,seizure recurrence,pH,bicarbonate,base excess,and lactate levels from venous blood gas analysis were ***:A total of 94 patients aged 14 years or older were included in the study. Of these patients,10.6%(n=10) experienced recurrent seizures in the observation period at the emergency department. To predict recurrent seizures in ED,threshold venous blood gas values were determined as follows:pHsensitivity 80%(95%CI:44–96),negative predictive value 96.9%(95%CI:88.3–99.4)],bicarbonatesensitivity 80%(95%CI:44–96),negative predictive value 97%(95%CI:89–99.5)],base excesssensitivity 80%(95%CI:44–96),negative predictive value 97%(95%CI:89–99)],and lactate>7.65 mmol/L [sensitivity 80%(95%CI:44–96),negative predictive value 96.6%(95%CI:87–99)].CONCLUsION:If venous blood gas analysis is made on pH,base excess,lactate and bicarbonate immediately one hour after the last epileptic seizure episode,it is possible to predict whether the patient will have seizure recurrence.
