In-vivo corneal biomechanical analysis of unilateral keratoconus

AIMTo evaluate and compare corneal biomechanical findings measured by ocular response analyzer, topographic and pachymetric findings in patients with unilateral keratoconus patients and healthy *** is an observational, case-control study. Patients with keratoconus in one eye and forme fruste keratoconus in the fellow eye were compared with sex and age matched with controls healthy subjects. All subjects were evaluated with rotating scheimpflug imaging system. The receiver-operating-characteristic curves were analyzed to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the ***-seven patients with keratoconus in one eye and forme fruste keratoconus in the fellow eye were compared with 40 eyes of 40 normal subjects. Corneal hysteresis (CH) was 8.0±1.7 mm Hg in keratoconus group, 8.3±1.6 mm Hg in forme fruste keratoconus group, and 9.8±1.6 mm Hg in control groups (P=0.54 between keratoconus and forme fruste keratoconus groups, Prol group and other groups). Corneal resistance factor (CrF) was 7.1±2.2 mm Hg in keratoconus group, 7.8±1.2 mm Hg in forme fruste keratoconus group and 9.9±1.5 mm Hg in control group (Prol group and other groups). Using receiver-operating-characteristic analysis, the area under curve values of the parameters to distinguish forme fruste keratoconus from control subjects were: CH (0.768), CrF (0.866). Best cut-off points were 9.3 mm Hg and 8.8 mm Hg for CH and CrF *** response analyzer parameters (CH and CrF) are found to be significantly lower in forme fruste keratoconus patients compared to normal control subjects.

Neutronic study on the effect of first wall material thickness on tritium production and material damage in a fusion reactor

In this study,the effects of changing first wall materials and their thicknesses on a reactor were investigated to determine the displacement per atom(DPA)and gas production(helium and hydrogen)in the first wall,as well as the tritium breeding ratio(TBr)in the coolant and tritium breeding ***,the modeling of the magnetic fusion reactor was determined based on the blanket parameters of the International Thermonuclear Experimental reactor(ITEr).Stainless steel(SS 316 LNIG),Oxide Dispersion Strengthened Steel alloy(PM2000 ODS),and China low-activation martensitic steel(CLAM)were used as the first wall(FW)*** family molten salt materials(FLiBe,FLiNaBe,FLiPb)and lithium oxide(LiO_(2))were considered the coolant and tritium production material in the blanket,*** transport calculations were performed using the wellknown 3D code MCNP5 using the continuous-energy Monte Carlo *** built-in continuous energy nuclear and atomic data libraries along with the Evaluated Nuclear Data file(ENDF)system(ENDF/B-V and ENDF/B-VI)were ***,the activity cross-section data library CLAW-IV was used to evaluate both the DPA values and gas production of the first wall(FW)*** interface computer program written in the FOrTrAN 90 language to evaluate the MCNP5 outputs was developed for the fusion reactor *** results indicated that the best TBr value was obtained for the use of the FLiPb coolant,whereas depending on the thickness,the first wall replacement period in terms of radiation damage to all materials was between 6 and 11 years.

Influence of Microstructures on Thermal Shock and Sintering Behavior of YSZ-based Thermal Barrier Coatings

In this study, two thermal barrier coatings based on YSZ were produced by using a commercially available agglomerated and sintered powder and a special spray powder prepared by high energy ball milling. Both thermal barrier coatings exhibited similar overall porosities, but significantly different microstructures. Application of the special spray powder prepared by high energy ball milling led to a microstructure with numerous inclusions of semi-molten agglomerates, which introduced a plethora of clusters of fine pores into the coating and several more microstructural defects. This microstructure resulted in a significantly better thermal shock behavior compared to the conventional thermal barrier coating. The heat treatment of both thermal barrier coatings atθ=1150℃for t=100 h led to a sintering of both coatings. The results were reduced overall porosity and significantly increased fracture toughness. A correlation between the fracture toughness of both coatings after the heat treatment and the thermal shock life time could not be identified.

Investigation of trace metals distribution in water,sediments and wetland plants of Kizilirmak Delta,Turkey

In this study,accumulation and distribution of Pb,Cu,Zn,Co,Ni,Mn and Fe in water,bottom sediments and four plant species(Myriophyllum verticillatum,Hydrocharis morsus-ranae,Nymphaea alba and Typha latifolia) were investigated in Cernek Lake of Kizilirmak *** Kizilirmak Delta is one of the largest natural wetlands of Turkey and it is protected by the ramsar convention since *** physico-chemical parameters such as pH,conductivity and dissolved oxygen and also trace metal concentrations were monitored in *** the parameters obtained were found higher than that of the national standards for the protected lakes and *** accumulated amounts of various trace metals in bottom sediments and wetland plants were found in the following order of Fe>Mn>Zn>Ni>Co>Cu>Pb and Fe>Mn>Zn>Ni>Co *** historical trace metal intake of Myriophyllum verticillatum,Hydrocharis morsus-ranae,Typha latifolia and Nymphaea alba were obtained higher than that of the toxic metal levels and these plants may be accepted as accumulators for the detected trace metals and also bioindicators in the historically polluted natural areas.

In this study,antimony production from a stibnite concentrate(Sb2S3)was performed in one step using a molten salt electrolysis method and borax as an *** reduction of the stibnite concentrate was performed at 800℃under galvanostatic conditions and explained in detail by the reactions and intermediate compounds formed in the *** effects of current density(100 800 mA cm^-2)and electrolysis time(10 40 min)on cathodic current efficiency and antimony yields were systematically *** the highest current efficiency,which was obtained at 600 mA cm^-2,direct metal production was possible with 62%cathodic current efficiency and approximately 6 kWh/kg energy *** the end of the 40-min electrolysis duration at 600 mA cm^-2 current density,antimony reduction reached 30.7 g and 99%of the antimony fed to the cell was obtained as metal.

This paper studied new class of integral equation called the Korteweg-de Vries-Kadomtsev-Petviashvili(KdV-KP)*** equation consist of the well-known fifth-order KdV equation in the context of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili *** newly gathered class of sixth-order KdV-KP equation is studied using the sub-equation method to obtain several soliton-type solutions which consist of trigonometric,hyperbolic,and rational *** application of the sub-equation approach in this work draws attention to the outstanding characteristics of the suggested method and its ability to handle completely integrable ***,the obtained solutions have not been reported in the previous literature and might have significant impact on future research.

A novel indicator system for catalytic spectrophotometric determination and speciation of inorganic selenium species (Se(Ⅳ), Se(Ⅵ)) at trace levels in natural lake and river water samples

A novel catalytic kinetic method is proposed for the determination of Se（Ⅳ）, Se（Ⅵ）, and total inorganic selenium in water based on the catalytic effect of Se（Ⅳ） on the reduction of Celestine blue by sodium sulfide at pH 7.0 phosphate buffer. The fixed-time method was adopted for the determination and speciation of inorganic selenium. Under the optimum conditions, the two calibration graphs are linear with a good correlation coefficient in the range 2-20 and 20-200 μg·L-1 of Se（Ⅳ） for the fixed-time method at 30℃. The experimental and theo- retical detection limits of the developed kinetic method were found to be 0.21 and 2.50 μg·L-1 for the fixed-time method （3 min）. All of the variables that affect the sensitivity at 645 nm were investigated, and the optimum conditions were established. The interference effect of various cations and anions on the Se（Ⅳ） determination was also studied. The selectivity of the selenium determination was greatly improved with the use of the strongly cation exchange resin such as Amberlite Ir120 plus as long as chelating agents of thiourea and thiosulphate. The proposed kinetic method was validated statistically and through recovery studies in natural water samples. The relative standard deviations （rSDs） for ten replicate measurements of 2, 10, and 20 μg·L-1 of Se（Ⅳ） change between 0.35% and 5.58%, while the rSDs for ten replicate measurements of 3, 6, and 12 μg·L-1 of Se（Ⅵ） change between 0.49% and 1.61%. Analyses of a certified standard reference material （NIST SrM 1643e） for selenium using the fixed-time method showed that the proposed kinetic method has good accuracy. The Se（Ⅳ）, Se（Ⅵ）, and total inorganic selenium in lake and river water samples have been successfully determined by this method after selective reduction of Se（Ⅵ） to Se（Ⅳ）.

Analytical and approximate solutions of nonlinear Schrödinger equation with higher dimension in the anomalous dispersion regime

The generalized riccati equation mapping method(GrEMM)is used in this paper to obtain different types of soliton solutions for nonlinear Schrödinger equation with higher dimension that existed in the regimes of anomalous ***,we use the q-homotopy analysis method combined with the Laplace transform(q-HATM)to obtain approximate solutions of the bright and dark optical *** q-HATM illustrates the solutions as a rapid convergent *** addition,to show the physical behavior of the solutions obtained by the proposed techniques,the graphical representation has been provided with some parameter *** findings demonstrate that the proposed techniques are useful,efficient and reliable mathematical method for the extraction of soliton solutions.
