A novel approach is introduced to generate simulated ground motion records by considering spectral acceleration correlations at multiple periods. Most of the current reliable Ground Motion Record(GMR) simulation procedures use a seismological model including source, path and site characteristics. However, the response spectrum of simulated GMR is somewhat different when compared with the response spectrum based on recorded GMRs. More specifi cally, the correlation between the spectral values at multiple periods is a characteristic of a record which is usually different between simulated and recorded GMRs. As this correlation has a signifi cant infl uence on the structural response, it is needed to investigate the consistency of the simulated ground motions with actual records. This issue has been investigated in this study by incorporating an optimization algorithm within the Boore simulation technique. Eight seismological key parameters were optimized in order to achieve approximately the same correlation coeffi cients and spectral acceleration between two sets of real and simulated records. The results show that the acceleration response spectra of the synthetic ground motions also have good agreement with the real recorded response spectra by implementation of the proposed optimized values.

In this study, Imperialistic Competitive Algorithm（ICA） is utilized for locating the critical failure surface and computing the factor of safety（FOS） in a slope stability analysis based on the limit equilibrium approach. The factor of safety relating to each trial slip surface is calculated using a simplified algorithm of the Morgenstern-Price method, which satisfies both the force and the moment equilibriums. General slip surface is considered non-circular in this study that is constituted by linking random straight *** explore the performance of the proposed algorithm, four benchmark test problems are analyzed. The results demonstrate that the present techniques can provide reliable, accurate and efficient solutions for locating the critical failure surface and relating FOS. Moreover, in contrast with previous studies the present algorithm could reach the lower value of FOS and reached more exact solutions.

Using the hydrothermal method, lanthanum hydroxide nanorods were synthesized by the reaction of LaC13·7H20, ethyl- enediamine, and hydrazine. According to SEM results, ethylenediamine and hydrazine with pH management could control the parti- cle growth and played an important role in formation of lanthanum hydroxide nanorods. The morphology and microstructure of the obtained products were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD） spectra, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX）, Fourier transformed infi＇ared （FTIR） spectrum, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. Further- more, the effects of the molar ratio of the precursors as well as the reaction temperature and time on the morphology and particle size of the products were investigated.

Introduction The application of large language models such as generative pre-trained transformers(GPTs)has been promising in medical education,and its performance has been tested for different medical *** study aims to assess the performance of GPTs in responding to a set of sample questions of short-answer management problems(SAMPs)from the certification exam of the College of Family Physicians of Canada(CFPC).Method Between August 8th and 25th,2023,we used GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 in five rounds to answer a sample of 77 SAMPs questions from the CFPC *** independent certified family physician reviewers scored AI-generated responses twice:first,according to the CFPC answer key(ie,CFPC score),and second,based on their knowledge and other references(ie,Reviews’score).An ordinal logistic generalised estimating equations(GEE)model was applied to analyse repeated measures across the five *** According to the CFPC answer key,607(73.6%)lines of answers by GPT-3.5 and 691(81%)by GPT-4 were deemed ***’s scoring suggested that about 84%of the lines of answers provided by GPT-3.5 and 93%of GPT-4 were *** GEE analysis confirmed that over five rounds,the likelihood of achieving a higher CFPC Score Percentage for GPT-4 was 2.31 times more than GPT-3.5(OR:2.31;95%CI:1.53 to 3.47;p<0.001).Similarly,the Reviewers’Score percentage for responses provided by GPT-4 over 5 rounds were 2.23 times more likely to exceed those of GPT-3.5(OR:2.23;95%CI:1.22 to 4.06;p=0.009).Running the GPTs after a one week interval,regeneration of the prompt or using or not using the prompt did not significantly change the CFPC score *** In our study,we used GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 to answer complex,open-ended sample questions of the CFPC exam and showed that more than 70%of the answers were accurate,and GPT-4 outperformed GPT-3.5 in responding to the *** language models such as GPTs seem promising for assisting candidates of the CFPC exam by pr

Normal appendix is 4 to 5 mm in diameter and approximately 8 cm in length;although it may be up to 30 cm long. Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix and is the most common cause of acute abdominal pain. Right lower quadrant pain, nausea, vomiting and fever are common signs of appendicitis but 20% to 33% of patients with suspected appendicitis present with atypical features. Case presentation: we presented a 14-year-old boy with abdominal pain predominantly in hypogastric area and LLQ (Left Lower Quadrant) that after ultrasound and CT study a large appendix 22 mm in diameter and 17 cm in length was detected. Conclusion: appendix position and size is very variable and appendicitis could be presented by different clinical features. In this case, the patient was presented with LLQ pain rather than RLQ (Right Lower Quadrant) pain due to its large size and elongation to the left side.

AIM To evaluate the prevalence of salt sensitivity and the impact of cardiometabolic and psychological characteristics on salt sensitivity in normotensive population. METHODS Of all participants,anthropometric measurements and fasting venous blood samples were collected,and study questionnaires were completed. Salt Sensitivity was defined based on the difference in mean arterial pressure with infusion of 2 L of normal saline followed by a low sodium diet and administration of three dosesof oral furosemide the day after. RESULTS Of 131 participants,56(42.7%) were diagnosed with salt sensitivity. Crude and age and sex adjusted regression analysis showed that low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and depression were positively associated with salt sensitivity(OR = 1.02,95%CI: 1.01-1.04 and OR = 1.15,95%CI: 1.00-1.34,respectively). CONCLUSION The high prevalence of salt sensitivity and its significant relation with prevalent risk factors necessitates considering its reduction actions at the population level and the need for further research.

Using controlled liquefaction, a seismic isolation technique is introduced by which a large area with dozens of structures can be seismically isolated. The proposed Large Scale Seismic Isolation （LSSI） is in many ways similar to conventional base isolations. The required bearing is provided by a fully undrained pre-saturated liquefiable layer which has substantial vertical stiffness/capacity and minimal lateral stiffness. Moreover, required energy dissipation would be provided through material damping and Biot flow-induced damping within the liquefied layer. LSSI consists of a thick non- liquefiable crust layer and an underlying engineered pre-saturated liquefiable layer bounded by two impermeable thin clay layers. The liquefiable layer should be designed to trigger liquefaction as soon as possible within the early seconds of a design level seismic event. Adopting the energy-based GMP liquefaction theory, optimum gradation of the liquefiable layer is also investigated. It tumed out that LSSI would effectively reduce acceleration response spectrum within short to medium periods. Contribution of the proposed LSSI is more pronounced in the case of stronger ground motions such as near field events as well as ground motions with longer return periods.

The mechanical and durability characteristics of concrete are crucial for designing and evaluating concrete structures throughout their entire operational *** main objective of this research is to use the deep learning(DL)method along with an artificial neural network(ANN)to predict the chloride migration coefficient and concrete compressive *** expansive experimental database of nearly 1100 data points was gathered from existing scientific *** forecast models were created,utilizing between 10 and 12 input *** ANN was used to address the missing data gaps in the literature.A comprehensive pre-processing approach was then implemented to identify outliers and encode data *** use of mean absolute error(MAE)as an evaluation metric for regression tasks and the employment of a confusion matrix for classification tasks were found to produce accurate ***,both the compressive strength and chloride migration coefficient exhibit a high level of accuracy,above 0.85,in both regression and classification ***,a user-friendly web application was successfully developed in the present study using the Python programming language,improving the ability to integrate smoothly with the user’s device.
