Sensitivity analysis of energy inputs and economic evaluation of pomegranate production in Iran

The aim of this research was to investigate the energy use and costs of pomegranate production in Behshahr city(Mazandaran province)of *** required data were gathered by questionnaire and face to face interviews with 83 pomegranate ***-Douglas model and sensitivity analysis were employed for energy flows modeling of the production *** total energy inputs and energy output of production were determined to be 11195.06 and 13276.56 MJ ha1,and two inputs of diesel fuel and chemical fertilizers with the shares of 45.81 and 23.47%,were the highest energy consumers for pomegranate *** use efficiency,energy productivity and net energy were 1.18,2081.50 MJ ha1 and 0.62 kg MJ1,*** results of Cobb-Douglas model showed that the effect of the energy inputs including human labor,biocides,chemical fertilizers,farmyard manure,electricity and water for irrigation on pomegranates yield were positive,while the effects of diesel fuel and agricultural machinery were negative on the pomegranate *** sensitivity analysis results of energy inputs showed that with the increase of one MJ in the energy input of water for irrigation and chemical fertilizers,the yield was increased to 3.12 and 1.42 kg,*** with the increase of one MJ in diesel fuel and agricultural machinery inputs,the yield was decreased to 0.67 and 0.47 kg,*** fuel as the most used energy input in the production accounted for 0.85%of variable costs and the benefit to cost ratio was determined to be 5.57.

Livestock units are known as one of the most influential sectors in the environment ***,the aim of this study was to investigate the environmental impacts of milk production in Guilan province of Iran through Life Cycle Assessment(LCA)*** primary data were collected from 45 units of milk production through a field survey with the help of a structured *** reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and was estimated an acceptable value of *** consumption of resources and emissions were allocated to a functional unit(FU)of one ton of *** of emissions in five impact categories of global warming,acidification,eutrophication,photochemical oxidation and depletion of resources were *** results showed that the characterization index for these impact categories were 1831 kg CO2 eq,7.97 kg SO2 eq,3.42 kg PO4^-3 eq,0.21 kg C2H4 eq and 838.39 MJ,*** indices for these impact categories were calculated as 0.24,0.28,0.076,0.017 and 0.046,*** index(EcoX)and resources depletion index(RDI)were obtained 0.61 and 0.04,*** this study,the highest potential for environmental impacts of production revealed for acidification and followed by global warming impact category.

Tractor as one of the most widely used agricultural machinery should be considered from different *** frequent application of clutch and brake pedals and also the steering wheel within farms,along with the unfavorable working conditions,cause negative effects on the occupational health of the tractor ***,in this research,the imposed forces on three engaged muscles including:Gastrocnemius,Trapezius and Quadrate’s lumborum of the tractor drivers during clutching have been *** this regard,algometer device was used to determine the applied forces on selective muscles of drivers during clutching of MF285 and MF399 *** experiments were performed employing sample of 30 drivers and were conducted on two Iranian frequently used tractors including:MF285 and MF399 *** results showed that the clutching forces for MF285 and MF399 tractors were 340 N and 290 N,*** knee angle of the drivers of the two tractors was statistically different at the one percent level of *** reduction of pain threshold after 30 and 60 s clutching and also 60 s rest after clutching in MF285 tractor,for all three muscles,were more than those of MF399 *** impact of clutching on the average decreases of pain threshold,for all drivers and all clutching periods,during and after clutching,in the Quadratus lumborum muscle was more than the other two muscles,in both *** order to reduce the clutching force for MF285 tractor some modifications is *** this regard the force transfer joint between the pedal and the clutch release linkage may be replaced with one made of cast iron.

Biomechanical study of the visual system by ocular response analyzer investigates the inter-structural biological relationships,mechanics,and function of the visual *** review aimed to investigate the changes in corneal biomechanical parameters with age and *** articles published in PubMed between 2000 and 2021 were investigated and critiqued,and valid scientific evidence was collected,reviewed and concluded according to the inclusion and exclusion *** studies showed that corneal biomechanical changes occur infrequently in children up to the age of 20y,and with increasing age and wider age range,there was a significant decrease in corneal biomechanical indices,especially corneal *** children and adults,most studies have shown that these biomechanical indicators,especially corneal resistance factor,were higher in *** hormonal changes may contribute to this finding,the role of axial length and other biometric indicators should not be *** axial length,the intraocular pressure,and the corneal thickness are other factors associated with biomechanical parameters that should be taken into account in clinical diagnosis and management especially for patients undergoing refractive surgery as well as keratoconus patients.

Topographic factors associated with anterior chamber angle narrowing in patients with keratoconus

AIM:To identify topographic determinants of the anterior chamber angle(ACA)in patients with keratoconus(KCN).METHODS:Four hundred and ten eyes of 294 patients with KCN were recruited for this ***,complete ocular examinations were performed for all patients,including visual acuity measurement,refraction,and slit-lamp ***,all participants underwent corneal imaging by the Oculus Pentacam ***:The mean age of the participants was 32.40±8.52y(15-60y)and 69.5%of them were *** mean ACA was 38.47°±5.75°(range:14.40°to 56.50°)in the whole sample,38.24°±6.00°in males,and 38.98°±5.11°in females(P=0.447).The mean ACA was significantly different among different groups of cone morphology,as patients with nipple cones showed the lowest mean ***,there were statistically significant differences in the mean ACA among different groups of cone locations,with patients having central cones exhibiting the lowest mean ACA(P<0.001).Anterior and posterior Q values were significantly,directly correlated with ACA(anterior Q:r=0.122,P=0.014,posterior Q:r=0.192,P<0.001).CONCLUSION:This study provides critical insights into the risk factors for ACA narrowing in KCN patients,which is essential for planning intraocular *** with nipple and central cones exhibited the most significant ACA ***,more negative Q-values are associated with increased ACA narrowing,highlighting the need for targeted diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.

Invasive species are increasingly spreading,particularly in rangeland *** is essential to evaluate the effectiveness of different methods for controlling invasive plants in these *** study aimed to investigate the effects of three strategies-21-year grazing exclusion(21-YES),mowing-grazing in rotation in alternate years(MGRS),and moderate grazing(MGS)-on the change in cover,density,and biomass of Leucanthemum vulgare Lam.(Ox-eye Daisy=OED)and the plant *** accomplish this,three sites selected for each *** 2021,270 vegetation plots were sampled using a random systematic ***,we recorded the density and canopy cover of all growth forms(forbs,grasses,and ferns),the OED biomass,and the ground *** results indicated that MGS reduced OED density,OED canopy,and OED ***,this strategy demonstrated the highest density and canopy cover of the plant community(including total,forbs,grasses,and ferns).Additionally,the strongest correlation was observed between the total canopy and the OED density(R2=-0.91,-0.95,-0.94 in 21-YES,MGRS,and MGS,respectively),as well as between the total canopy and the OED canopy(R2=-0.51,-0.98,-0.97 in 21-YES,MGRS,and MGS,respectively).The MGS led to an increase in diversity *** general,the grazing strategy has proven to be effective in controlling the spread of invasive OED and has also resulted in an increase in canopy cover,density,and diversity indices of the plant *** study highlights the importance of ongoing management efforts to control invasive species,with moderate grazing potentially serving as a more practical,culturally accepted,and costeffective short-term control strategy for widespread rangeland weed infestations.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of Persian shallot extract on the serum markers and blood pressure of patients with metabolic syndrome(MetS). METHODS: Fifty patients with Met S diagnosis were randomly assigned to the intervention(Persian shallot extract) and the control(placebo) group. Both groups received treatment for three months. Before the study and at the end of the study, 5 mL peripheral blood was taken from each patient. The measured factors included total antioxidant capacity(TAC), superoxide dismutase enzyme(SOD), malondialdehyde, oxidized low-density lipoprotein(Ox-LDL), apolipoprotein H(Apo-H), fasting blood glucose(FBS), total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein(HDL), LDL, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. RESULTS: At baseline, the evaluated parameters were not significantly different between the intervention and control groups. At the end of the study, the mean serum levels of malondialdehyde and ox-LDL were significantly lower in the intervention group. The mean FBS, cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL were significantly lower in the intervention group. The mean TAC and HDL were significantly higher in the intervention group(P < 0.05). Moreover, the intervention group significantly reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure. No other significant association was observed. CONCLUSION: Persian shallot extract has several beneficial effects in Met S patients, including optimizing oxidative balance, reducing blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, and blood lipid profile.

AIM:To compare the subjective refraction data with autorefraction findings in high ***:In a cross-sectional study,sampling was done from in different geographic regions in Iran using a multistage random cluster sampling *** study participants underwent cycloplegic auto-refraction and subjective refraction using the red-green ***:In this study,277 eyes of 158 students aged 8 to 15y were *** to the results,the mean difference between subjective refraction and autorefraction in measuring sphere,cylinder,spherical equivalent,J0,and J45 was-0.18±0.76,-0.36±0.40,-0.36±0.79,0.15±0.20,and 0.05±0.21 *** correlation of these two refraction methods in measuring the aforementioned indices was 0.963,0.898,0.960,0.931,and 0.948 *** 95%limits of agreement of the two methods in measuring the above indices were-1.66 to 1.31,-1.14 to 0.42,-1.91 to 1.19,-0.24 to 0.54,and-0.36 to 0.47 *** agreement between the two methods decreased with increasing cylinder power,and the best agreement was found in myopic ***:The measurements obtained by autorefractometer have a significantly higher cylinder average compared to subjective ***,in the cylinder range of 4–5 diopters,the values of J0 and J45 do not have a high correlation.
