Intense abdominal pain is a prominent feature of chronic pancreatitis and its treatment remains a major clinical *** studies of pancreatic nerves and experimental human pain research have provided evidence that pain processing is abnormal in these patients and in many cases resembles that seen in neuropathic and chronic pain *** important ultimate outcome of such aberrant pain processing is that once the disease has advanced and the pathophysiological processes are firmly established,the generation of pain can become self-perpetuating and independent of the initial peripheral nociceptive ***,the management of pain by traditional methods based on nociceptive deafferentation(e.g.,surgery and visceral nerve blockade)becomes difficult and often *** novel and improved understanding of pain aetiology requires a paradigm shift in pain management of chronic *** mechanism based pain treatments taking into account altered pain processing are likely to increasingly replace invasive therapies targeting the nociceptive source,which should be reserved for special and carefully selected *** this review,we offer an overview of the current available pharmacological options for pain management in chronic *** addition,future options for pain management are discussed with special emphasis on personalized pain medicine and multidisciplinarity.

Analyses on the Tied-Arch Action of Loaded Reinforced-Concrete Beams with Corroded steel Reinforcement

The tied-arch action was analyzed by considering 27 reinforced-concrete beams without web reinforcements that were dismantled from a wide range of deteriorated coastal and marine structures and with varying degrees of reinforcement corrosion. Under 2-point loading and changing shear span ratio, changes in loading capacity for beams of the same corrosion degree were studied. Formulas relating ultimate moment of reinforcements with the same corrosion level at increasing a/d ratio were then developed. Load-carrying capacity profile for beams with reinforcement corrosion of 1% and the same cross section was described. The minimum ultimate moment occurs at a/d = 2.5 and at 52% of the full flexural moment, suggesting that the difference in ultimate moment between theoretical and experimental results at the minimum point equals 11%. The results show that the developed theoretical relations compared well with experimental values.

Eosinophilic esophagitis is an immune-allergic pathology of multifactorial etiology(genetic and environmental)that affects both pediatric and adult *** symptoms,which include heartburn,regurgitation,and esophageal stenosis(with dysphagia being more frequent in eosinophilic esophagitis in young adults and children),are similar to those of gastroesophageal reflux disease,causing delays in diagnosis and *** endoscopic findings such as furrows,esophageal mucosa trachealization,and whitish exudates may suggest its presence,this diagnosis should be confirmed histologically based on the presence of more than 15 eosinophils per high-power field and the exclusion of other causes of eosinophilia(parasitic infections,hypereosinophilic syndrome,inflammatory bowel disease,among others)for which treatment could be ***,the 3“D”s(“Drugs,Diet,and Dilation”)are considered the fundamental components of *** first 2 components,which involve the use of proton pump inhibitors,corticosteroids,immunosuppressants and empirical diets or guided food elimination based on allergy tests,are more useful in the initial phases,whereas endoscopic dilation is reserved for esophageal ***,the most important aspects of eosinophilic esophagitis pathophysiology will be reviewed,in addition to evidence for the various treatments.

sHRIMP U-Pb zircon age of the youngest exposed pluton in eastern China

Analysis using the sensitive High Resolution Ion Microprobe (sHRIMP) shows that the Yongsheng pluton, located to the south of Huadian County, Jilin Province, in the North China Craton, has a zircon U-Pb isotopic emplacement age of (31.6±1.3) Ma. It is therefore the youngest exposed pluton so far recognized in eastern China. Although geochemical data indicate intensive crystal fractionation, the sr-Nd isotopic features suggest that the magmatic source region of the lithospheric mantle was weakly depleted. This implies that the previous enriched lithospheric mantle had been replaced by juvenile asthenospheric mantle before or during the Palaeogene. This recognition has great significance for future work on the Mesozoic-Cenozoic geological evolution and deep geological processes in eastern China.

Dynamic Analysis of Cable Roofs Under Transient Wind:A Comparison Between Time Domain and Frequency Domain Approaches

At present, high-speed computing capabilities and advanced nonlinear dynamic finite element procedures enable detailed dynamic analysis of cable structures. Although deterministic approaches require considerable analysis time and effort in relation to modeling, running, and data processing, they seem to be the only alternative to obtain high accuracy. Detailed dynamic analysis of cable roof networks is sophisticated and requires advanced modeling expertise. This paper presents a comparison between detailed nonlinear dynamic analysis and a simplified frequency domain approach to estimate the maximum probable response of weakly nonlinear cable roofs. The approach can be considered as alternative to detailed time-domain analysis in the preliminary design phase, or can be used to validate results obtained from more elaborated numerical models. The proposed method is illustrated with two examples of cable net roofs that were also analysed in the time domain.

Objective:To identify the acari present on pet Burmese pythons in Malaysia and to determine whether there is any potential public health risk related to handling of the ***: Two sub-adult Burmese pythons kept as pets for a period of about 6 to 7 months by different owners,were brought to an exotic animal practice for *** a complete medical examination,some ticks and mites(acari) were detected beneath the dorsal and ventral scales along body length of the *** were directly identified and mites were mounted prior to ***:A total of 12 ticks represented by 3 males,2 females and 7 nymphal stages of Rhipicephalus sanguineus(***) were extracted from the first python while the other one was with 25 female Ophionyssus natricis(***) mesostigmatid *** adult female mites were *** mites are common ectoparasites of Burmese pythons. Conclusions:Both the acarine species found on the Burmese pythons are known vectors of *** is the first record that *** has been reported from a pet Burmese python in Malaysia.

Effects of External stresses on the Carbide Precipitation in Bainite Transformation

TEM observation of carbide precipitates in bainite has been carried out for steel 40CMD8. specimens transformed at 350 ℃ and 450 ℃ without external stress contain respectively the lower and the upper bainite. No fundamental change in carbide precipitation is observed in specimen transformed at 350 ℃ under stress of 128 MPa. The very fine cementite is found precipitated within the upper bainite plates in specimen transformed at 450 ℃ under stress of 144 MPa, which can be explained as the result of the difficulty of carbon diffusing out of the massive ferrite plate within a much shortened transformation time due to the external stress. For all the specimens examined, Bagaryatskii orientation relationship is found existing between the carbides and ferrite matrix.

Estimation of diameter and surface area flux of bubbles based on operational gas dispersion parameters by using regression and ANFIs

Adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIs) procedure and regression methods were used to predict the sauter mean bubble (bubble diameter) and surface area flux of the bubble in a flotation process. The operational conditions of flotation, impeller peripheral speed, superficial gas velocity, and weight percent solids were used as inputs of methods. By using the mentioned operational conditions, the non linear regression results showed that sauter mean, and surface area flux of the bubble are predictable variables, where the coefficients of determination (R 2 ) are 0.57 and 0.74, respectively. To increase the accuracy of prediction an ANFIs model with cluster radius of 0.4 was applied. ANFIs model was capable of estimating both sauter mean, and surface area flux of the bubble, where in a testing stage, satisfactory correlations, R 2 = 0.78, and 0.86, were achieved for sauter mean, and surface area flux of bubble, respectively. Results show that the proposed ANFIs model can accurately estimate outputs and be used in order to predict the parameters without having to conduct the new experiments in a laboratory.
