This paper celebrates Professor Yon.qi GAO's sign.fican. achievemen. in.the field of in.erdisciplin.ry studies within.the con.ext of his fin.l research project Arctic Climate Prediction.: Pathways to Resilien. Sustain.ble Societies-ARCPATH(https://***/en.projects/fin.shed-projects/arcpath). The disciplin.s represen.ed in.the project are related to climatology, an.hropology, marin. biology, econ.mics, an. the broad spectrum of social-ecological studies. Team members were drawn.from the n.rdic coun.ries, Russia, Chin., the Un.ted States, an. Can.da. The project was tran.disciplin.ry as well as in.erdisciplin.ry as it in.luded collaboration.with local kn.wledge holders. ARCPATH made sign.fican. con.ribution. to Arctic research through an.improved un.erstan.in. of the mechan.sms that drive climate variability in.the Arctic. In.tan.em with this research, a combin.tion.of historical in.estigation. an. social, econ.mic, an. marin. biological fieldwork was carried out for the project study areas of Icelan., Green.an., n.rway, an. the surroun.in. seas, with a focus on.the join. use of ocean.an. sea-ice data as well as social-ecological drivers. ARCPATH was able to provide an.improved framework for predictin. the n.ar-term variation.of Arctic climate on.spatial scales relevan. to society, as well as evaluatin. possible related chan.es in.socioecon.mic realms. In.summary, through the in.egration.of in.ormation.from several differen. disciplin.s an. research approaches, ARCPATH served to create n.w an. valuable kn.wledge on.crucial issues, thus providin. n.w pathways to action.for Arctic commun.ties.

Objective: The association.hyperten.ion.an. diabetes is importan.. The two pathologies may in.luen.e each other. The aim was to study the correlation.between.glycemic con.rol an. blood pressure con.rol an. to determin. the factors associated with blood pressure con.rol. Methodology: This was a descriptive cross-section.l study with an.an.lytical focus over 7 mon.hs. Patien.s were recruited as outpatien.s an. all un.erwen. ambulatory blood pressure measure, glycated hemoglobin.an. creatin.n. measuremen.s, an. assessmen. of complian.e with treatmen.. Results: Durin. this period 116 patien.s were collected. The predomin.n.e was female 69%. The mean.age of the patien.s was 62 ± 7 years with a peak between.60 an. 70 years. The average age of hyperten.ion.was 12 years an. that of diabetes 6 1/2 years. The most frequen.ly associated cardiovascular risk factor was a seden.ary lifestyle (71.5%) after age. 57.8% of patien.s were n.t con.rolled at the office, with a predomin.n.e of systolic hyperten.ion.(58.2%). 61.6% of patien.s were con.rolled by ambulatory blood pressure measure, a rate of 47.8% of white coat hyperten.ion. Glycemic con.rol was observed in.42.2% of cases an. 87% of patien.s had good ren.l fun.tion.(glomerular filter rate ≥ 60 ml/mn.. Therapeutic complian.e was good in.53.4% of cases an. dual therapy was the most used therapeutic modality 44.8% (52 patien.s) followed by triple therapy. The factors associated with poor blood pressure con.rol were glycemic imbalan.e, n.n.complian.e an. mon.therapy. Dual therapy had a protective effect. Con.lusion. The association.of hyperten.ion.an. type 2 diabetes is frequen.. The risk of occurren.e in.reases with age. Ambulatory blood pressure measure is the best method to assess blood pressure con.rol. Optimization.of blood pressure con.rol should also in.lude optimization.of glycemic con.rol.
