Mapping of Potential Groundwater Recharge Zones in the Kolleru Lake Catchment, India, by Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques

Water scarcity is the major problem in India where the population has been tremendously increasing, which results in invading natural resources, thus affects on hydrological processes. Because of this, significant surface water bodies have been disappearing continuously. Therefore, more pressure on groundwater resources is a consequence of that. The integration of remote sensing and geographical information system (GIS), which helps in groundwater research for the investigation of potential groundwater availability, is essential to assess, monitor, and conserve groundwater resources. This analysis reports on the mapping of various potential groundwater resources in the Kolleru Lake catchment, India, by using remote sensing and GIS techniques. For this, a survey of India toposheets and IRC-1C satellite imageries was used to prepare thematic layers of geomorphology, drainage density, lineament, slope, land-use, soil, rainfall, and NDVI converted into raster format in ArcGIS. The raster maps of these thematic layers were assigned to a weight-based factor depending on the catchment characteristics and its topographic influence. The results demonstrated that about 7% of the area is under excellent groundwater potential recharge. Good, moderate, and lower potential conditions are 42%, 38%, and 13%, respectively. The results indicated that the management of groundwater potential zones should be targeted on the middle-catchment region. Further, the results were validated with the borehole data obtained from the Government of Andhra Pradesh-Groundwater Department. These results are useful for better both planning and groundwater management sources in the Kolleru Lake catchment.

Ab-initio studies of the structural,electronic,optical and magnetic properties of DyMg intermetallic compound

Structural,electronic,optical and magnetic properties of DyMg intermetallic compound are calculated by using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave(FP-LAPW)method employing density functional theory(DFT).The obtained optimized equilibrium lattice constant in stable structure of DyMg(B2 phase)with spin polarized calculations is 7.107 Bohr and that without spin polarized calculations is 7.115 *** electronic band structure and density of states plots show metallic character of *** energy-dependent components of dielectric function,refractive index,extinction coefficient,absorption spectra,optical conductivity,energy loss spectra and reflectivity are reported in the energy range 0–20 *** DyMg maximum absorption is observed in the range 4–11 *** highest optical conductivity peak is observed near 0.78 eV(1589.5409 nm)and maximum energy loss occurs at 11.90 eV which corresponds to~2.8 Hz in ultraviolet *** obtained total magnetic moment shows that its value decreases with the increase in lattice parameter.

In this paper,HoMg is studied in two different phases i.e.B1 and *** calculated lattice constants in B1 and B2 phases are 6.39°A and 3.78°A and corresponding energies are−25,648.49 Ry and−25,648.56 Ry,*** is more stable in B2 phase(Pm-3m configuration with no.221).The analysis of the obtained band structure and density of states shows metallic character of *** information about the elastic properties is also presented in this *** calculated values of Cauchy pressure,G/B and Poisson ratio are−10.72,0.58 and 0.26,respectively which indicates that HoMg have brittle *** for the optical spectra such as the components of dielectric function,refractive index and other parameters of the optical properties are performed in the energy range of 0-20 *** HoMg,the main peak of absorption spectra and energy loss function is located at 7.44 eV and 11.76 eV,*** parameters such as Gruneisen parameter,Debye temperature,Specific heat *** been reported as a function of pressure and temperature.©2018 Published by Elsevier *** behalf of Chongqing University.

A simple and efficient three component procedure has been developed for the synthesis of highly substituted spiro[indolo-3,100-indeno[1,2-b]quinolin]-2,4,11＇-triones by one pot three component condensation of enaminones, isatin and indane-1,3-dione in ethanol：water（1：1） in presence of ceric ammonium nitrate（CAN） as catalyst. This method provides several advantages such as lesser reaction time, high yield of products and operational simplicity. The antimicrobial activity of some of the compounds has been investigated against six microbial strains, some of the tested compounds showed good antimicrobial activity.

Wound healing activity of aqueous extract of Crotalaria verrucosa in Wistar albino rats

Objective:To evaluate the wound healing effect of aqueous extract of Crotalaria verrucosa(C. verrucosa) in ***:Three wound models including incision,excision and dead space wounds were used in this *** parameters studied were breaking strength in incision models,granulation tissue dry weight,breaking strength and hydroxyproline content in dead space wounds,percentage of wound contraction and period of epithelialization in excision wound ***:Two doses of the extract with and without dexamethasone showed significant increases in mean hydroxyproline,total protein content and dry weight of granulation tissue but it was higher with dose 800 mg/kg comparing with the *** dexamethasone treated group showed a significant(P<0.001) reduction in the wound breaking strength when compared to control group in incision type of wound *** of *** with dexamethasone significantly(P<0.001) increased the breaking strength compared to the dexamethasone treated only *** excision wound model,the percentage of the wound contraction was significantly(P<0.01) increased by two doses of test extract on all the days except the lower dose which exhibited only on 12th,16th days of drug treatment and it also reversed the dexamethasone suppressed wound *** significantly(P<0.001) reduced the time required for epithelialization and reversed the epithelialization delaying effect of dexamethasone (P<0.001).Conclusions:*** was found to possess significant wound healing property. This was evident by decrease in the period of epithelialization,increase in the rate of wound contraction,skin breaking strength,and granulation tissue dry weight *** C. verrucosa could be a good wound healing agent.

Studies on the Biology and Predatory Potential of <i>Harmonia dimidiata</i>, a Major Predator of <i>Aphis pomi</i>De Geer on Apple Host in India

Observations were made on young nursery plants and apple orchards to record the coccinellid predators of Aphis pomi De Geer on apple plants in Himachal Pradesh which is main apple growing state of India. Nine species of lady bird beetles were observed feeding on green apple aphid, Aphis pomi De Geer on the apple nursery plants of Mashobra locality of Shimla district and Ner Chowk locality of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, India. On the basis of general observations, it was found that the larvae of beetle Harmonia dimidiata (F.), are very active to feed on the nymphs of green apple aphid. Therefore, it was considered worthwhile to investigate the biology and feeding potential of this beetle on green apple aphid from biological control point of view.

Hepatoprotective activity of Terminalia paniculata against paracetamol induced hepatocellular damage in Wistar albino rats

Objective:To evaluate the hepatoprotective activity of Terminalia paniculata against paracetamol induced hepatic damage in ***:The plant material was shade dried, powdered and extracted with *** 52 and silymarin were used as standard drugs and 2%gum acacia as a control(vehicle).Alteration in the levels of biochemical markers of hepatic damage like AST,ALT,ALP and lipid peroxides were tested,and phytochemical tests were also ***:Paracetamol(2 g/kg) increased the serum levels of alanine aminotransfer (ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP) and the lipid peroxides. Treatment of Liv 52,silymarin and ethanolic extract of Terminalia paniculata(200 mg/kg) altered levels of biochemical marker and showed significant hepatoprotective *** extract revealed the presence of phenolic compound and *** findings suggested that ethanolic bark extract of Terminalia paniculata possessed hepatoprotective activity in a dose dependent ***:Terminalia paniculata possesses hepatoprotective *** could be an effective and promising preventive agent against PCT induced hepatotoxicity.

BACKGROUND Prediabetes is a well-established risk factor for major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events(MACCE).However,the relationship between prediabetes and MACCE in atrial fibrillation(AF)patients has not been extensively ***,this study aimed to establish a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** To investigate a link between prediabetes and MACCE in AF *** We used the National Inpatient Sample(2019)and relevant ICD-10 CM codes to identify hospitalizations with AF and categorized them into groups with and without prediabetes,excluding *** primary outcome was MACCE(all-cause inpatient mortality,cardiac arrest including ventricular fibrillation,and stroke)in AF-related *** Of the 2965875 AF-related hospitalizations for MACCE,47505(1.6%)were among patients with *** prediabetes cohort was relatively younger(median 75 vs 78 years),and often consisted of males(56.3%vs 51.4%),blacks(9.8%vs 7.9%),Hispanics(7.3%vs 4.3%),and Asians(4.7%vs 1.6%)than the non-prediabetic cohort(P<0.001).The prediabetes group had significantly higher rates of hypertension,hyperlipidemia,smoking,obesity,drug abuse,prior myocardial infarction,peripheral vascular disease,and hyperthyroidism(all P<0.05).The prediabetes cohort was often discharged routinely(51.1%vs 41.1%),but more frequently required home health care(23.6%vs 21.0%)and had higher *** adjusting for baseline characteristics or comorbidities,the prediabetes cohort with AF admissions showed a higher rate and significantly higher odds of MACCE compared to the non-prediabetic cohort[18.6%vs 14.7%,odds ratio(OR)1.34,95%confidence interval 1.26-1.42,P<0.001].On subgroup analyses,males had a stronger association(aOR 1.43)compared to females(aOR 1.22),whereas on the race-wise comparison,Hispanics(aOR 1.43)and Asians(aOR 1.36)had a stronger association with MACCE with prediabetes vs whites(aOR 1.33)and blacks(aOR 1.21).CONCLUSION This population-
