Assessment of heavy metal contamination in the sur?cial sediments from the lower Meghna River estuary, Noakhali coast, Bangladesh

Sediment samples were collected from ten selected sites of the lower Meghna River estuary, and six heavy metals were analyzed with Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry(AAS) to assess the contamination level and the metals’ association with sediment grain size. The current results revealed that the mean concentrations of the studied metals were ranked in descending order of iron(Fe)(1.29 ? 103 mg/kg) > zinc(Zn)(42.41 mg/kg) > lead(Pb)(12.48 mg/kg) > chromium(Cr)(10.59 mg/kg) > copper(Cu)(6.22 mg/kg) > cadmium(Cd)(0.28 mg/kg). The geo-accumulation, contamination, and pollution load indexes suggested that the lower Meghna river estuary was not contaminated by Fe, Zn, Pb, Cr, and *** mean size of the sediment ranged from 28.92 to 126.2 mm, and the Pearson correlation coefficient showed a significant association between Fe and Pb(coefficient of determination, r2? 0.836; p < 0.05),and no significant correlation was found between individual metals and grain size, indicating no or low influence on the metals distribution.

Comparative Analysis on Antenna Balun and Feeding Techniques of Step Constant Tapered Slot Antenna

This paper represents the performance analysis of the different shapes of antenna balun and feeding techniques for step constant tapered slot antenna. This work also addresses the benefits of antenna balun (circular and rectangular) along with two types of feeding techniques (Microstrip line L-shape and Microstrip line I-shape). The performance of the antenna for each technique is thoroughly investigated using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Microwave Studio software simulation under the resonant frequency of 5.9 GHz. Results demonstrate that the proposed model is an effective tool for improving antenna performance. Moreover, an extensive comparison has been carried out between the two different shapes, with and without antenna balun and between two feeding techniques focusing on return losses, gain, directivity, and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR).

Influence of Lycra Content and Stitch Length on the Dimensional and Physical Characteristics of Lycra Back Plaited Cotton (LBPC) Single Jersey Fabrics

The physical and dimensional characteristics, i.e. course and wale spacing, stitch density, tightness factor, diameter, porosity, dimensional stability and bursting strength of single jersey knitted items containing lycra yarn with the variations in stitch length and lycra content have been examined and a detail investigation on the lycra filament has been discussed in this study. Six different samples were knitted with identical cotton and lycra yarn but different in lycra contents and stitch length. After conditioning in a controlled environment, all the samples were tested as per the established methods. After analyzing the test results, noticeable effects of variations in stitch length and lycra content on physical and dimensional characteristics of single jersey knitted fabric has been found. As smaller the stitch length and as greater the lycra content, the dimensional stability and bursting strength are better;on the other hand, the air permeability is lower.

Due to the difficulties of brain tumor segmentation, this paper proposes a strategy for extracting brain tumors from three-dimensional MagneticResonance Image (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans utilizing3D U-Net Design and ResNet50, taken after by conventional classificationstrategies. In this inquire, the ResNet50 picked up accuracy with 98.96%, andthe 3D U-Net scored 97.99% among the different methods of deep *** is to be mentioned that traditional Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)gives 97.90% accuracy on top of the 3D MRI. In expansion, the imagefusion approach combines the multimodal images and makes a fused image toextricate more highlights from the medical images. Other than that, we haveidentified the loss function by utilizing several dice measurements approachand received Dice Result on top of a specific test case. The average mean scoreof dice coefficient and soft dice loss for three test cases was 0.0980. At thesame time, for two test cases, the sensitivity and specification were recordedto be 0.0211 and 0.5867 using patch level predictions. On the other hand,a software integration pipeline was integrated to deploy the concentratedmodel into the webserver for accessing it from the software system using theRepresentational state transfer (REST) API. Eventually, the suggested modelswere validated through the Area Under the Curve–Receiver CharacteristicOperator (AUC–ROC) curve and Confusion Matrix and compared with theexisting research articles to understand the underlying problem. ThroughComparative Analysis, we have extracted meaningful insights regarding braintumour segmentation and figured out potential gaps. Nevertheless, the proposed model can be adjustable in daily life and the healthcare domain to identify the infected regions and cancer of the brain through various imagingmodalities.

Assessing the Ecological Consequences: Biodiversity Decline in Gopalganj, Bangladesh, under Climate Change

This research critically examines the alarming case of biodiversity loss in Gopalganj, Bangladesh, focusing on identifying the causes of this decline and assessing its long-term impact on ecosystems and communities. The main reason is anthropogenic activities, including land conversion, and infrastructure using a comprehensive approach. This research employs a combination of primary and secondary data analysis techniques, encompassing surveys, focus group discussions, interviews, and field surveys. Findings: A staggering biological decline in ethnic diversity seems predictions point in the direction of it is an alarming trend that will take place by 2054. At the same time, the study reveals a worrying decline in vegetation and a dramatic expansion of built-up areas. In light of these findings, this paper strongly emphasizes the urgent need for immediate and coordinated conservation efforts. The proposed measures include conservation and restoration of critical areas, strong measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, proactive climate adaptation planning, promotion of sustainable agricultural and forestry practices, and strong public awareness campaigns to emphasize the critical importance of biodiversity conservation. Collectively, these actions are pivotal in safeguarding Gopalganj’s rich biodiversity and ensuring a sustainable future for the region and the planet at large.

Chemical Reaction and Thermal Diffusion Effects on Mass Transfer Flow through an Inclined Plate

A numerical investigation of boundary layer mass transfer flow through an inclined plate with the effect of chemical reaction and thermal diffusion is presented in this study. The governing partial differential equations (PDE) are transformed to a system of dimensionless non-similar coupled PDEs. The transformed, non-similar conservations equations (momentum balance equation, energy balance equation and concentration balance equation) are then solved using a numerical approach known as explicit finite difference method (EFDM). Basically EFDM introduced for the unsteadiness in the momentum, temperature, and concentration fluid fields is based on the time dependent fluid velocity, temperature and concentration of the boundary surface. During the course of discussion, it is found that the various parameters related to the problem influence the calculated resultant expressions. The computed numerical solution results for the velocity, temperature, and concentration distribution with the effect of various important dimensionless parameters (Grashof number, Modified Grashof number, Prandtl number, Schmidt number, Soret number, Dufour number, chemical reaction parameter and inclination parameter) entering into the problems are critically analyzed and discussed graphically. It can be seen that two physical phenomena chemical reaction and thermal diffusion can greatly effect on the boundary layer fluid flows through an inclined plate.

Determine the Factors of Female Early Age at First Cohabitation: A Case Study of Bangladesh

The main objective of the current study is to examine the existing situation of female early age at first cohabitation in Bangladesh as well as to identify the factors associated behind this issue. An analysis has been performed by using the secondary data of Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS), 2011. Chi-square test for dependency checking has been performed as bivariate analysis. After performing bivariate analysis, binary logistic regression analysis has been performed. To identify the significant variable, stepwise regression method has also been performed. The result of the study has revealed that women education, household economic status, area of residence, religion and geographical location have significant contribution for adolescent cohabitation. From this study it can be concluded that females who has low education and low socio-economic status are more likely to enter into cohabitation at early adulthood.

Comparative Study on Caesarian and Normal Delivery Childbirth in Bangladesh

The study is concerned with caesarian and normal delivery and its effectiveness on childbirth which has more impact on Bangladesh. We identified that, higher educated and higher income families are choosing caesarian section for childbirth because of improved safety of surgical skill to reduce the mortality rate. Although expensive, most caesarian operations are performed in private hospitals for modern medical equipment, experienced doctors and advanced medical care. A questionnaire survey design was applied in order to make a comparative study on caesarian and normal delivery childbirth. Respondents from all over Bangladesh participated in the survey. We collect 281 data from the respondents of different districts of Bangladesh by area sampling. We use descriptive and analytical research designs in determining the comparative study on caesarian and normal delivery childbirth in Bangladesh. The results of study show that the variance of children taken by caesarian delivery is less than children taken by normal delivery and children taken by caesarian delivery increase due to increased family income. It has been found that 39.5% (111) respondents are from the Urban area and 60.5% (171) from the rural zone. We can say that more than 50% of our respondents are well-educated. Anterior Chamber Depth Changes in Narrow Iridocorneal Angles after Phacoemulsification

Background: The burden of cataract and glaucoma has been increasing. Primary angle closure occurs as a result of crowded anterior segment anatomy causing appositional contact between peripheral iris and trabecular meshwork. Lens extraction has been proposed as a method of deepening anterior chamber and managing intraocular pressure. Purpose: To assess changes in anterior chamber depth after phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation in narrow angle eyes. Design: Prospective controlled trial (before-after) study. Method: The study was conducted from March 2015 to August 2017 among the patients of department of Ophthalmology of BSMMU who were diagnosed as cataract with narrow angles. Anterior chamber angle grading of 2 or less (Shaffer grading) in 3 or more quadrants was considered narrow angle (NA). The purposive type sampling technique was applied to collect sample from the study population, as per inclusion and exclusion criteria. Complete clinical evaluation including history, physical examination, relevant ocular examinations and systemic examinations were performed. In this prospective study, subjects underwent phacoemulsification with foldable lens implantation. A scan ultrasonography was performed preoperatively and 10th and 30th postoperative days of surgery. Results: Thirty eyes of 29 patients included in the study, male: female ratio was 1:1, with an overall mean age of 62.03 ± 8.95 years. The mean preoperative central ACD was 2.95 ± 0.35 mm. At 10th and 30th POD mean central ACD were 3.94 ± 0.32, and 3.92 ± 0.28 mm respectively. Mean of increase in central ACD at final follow-up was 0.96 mm (p Conclusion: Phacoemulsification with posterior chamber in bag lens implantation can deepen the anterior chamber depth in patients with narrow angles.
