Healthcare is significant for a person’s comfort as well as the economic benefit of a country. Irrespective of ability, everyone should have access to health care while anyone is sick. This paper aims to compare Canadian and Indian health care highlighting the financing system and people’s benefits. In Canada, universal health care means everyone, including citizens, permanent residents, and visitors, can have health care from the government. Canadian healthcare pays the doctors based on the services they provide the patients. In India, 80% of health financing comes from private sources through out-of-pocket and private insurance. In India, government-paid doctors can do private practice beyond their office hours;any patient can go to any doctor without the general practitioner’s (GP) referral as the GP system does not exist there. The healthcare agents are aggressively eager to make money, forgetting quality service to the patients. On the other hand, in Canada, the insurance system plays a supportive role in making payments and ensuring quality healthcare.

Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Organizational Commitment among Clinical Nurses in Bangladesh

Organizational citizenship behavior becomes one of the significant factors that enhance the organizational efficiency. Organizational citizenship behavior has been defined as behaviors that an employee voluntarily engages in organization that promote the effectiveness of clearly rewarded by the organization. However organizational commitment is very beneficial for the organization because it reduces the absenteeism rate and turnover ratio and enhances the organization productivity. In all of the organization, organizational commitment exerts a positive effect on the nurses’ performance. The aim was to assess the relationship between organizational citizenship behavior and organizational commitment among nurses. The descriptive correlational design was used to explore the relationship between organizational citizenship behavior and organizational commitment among nurses. Simple random sampling was used and sample size was 164. Data were collected by a self-structured questionnaire during November 2019 to December 2019 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 21. The result showed that average age of the participants was 34.19 years old. There were statistically positive significant relationships between organizational citizenship behavior with organizational commitment (r = 0.82, p = 0.000), organizational citizenship behavior with working ward (F = 6.31, p = 0.000) and organizational commitment with working ward (F = 4.45, p = 0.002). Based on the results of this study, it is indicated that lack of OCB & OC among nurses’ is moderate level. The findings of this study will suggest reducing organizational hazard, and developing citizenship behavior and organizational commitment that enhance high outcome in health care organizations & quality of care. So hospital should provide in-service training for nurses’ and all departments are equally. Predictive study of factors related to OCB & OC is recommended for future study.

In this paper, a high sensitive photonic crystal fiber (PCF) based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor is numerically studied. In this structure, as a plasmonic material, gold (Au) is used because of its chemical activeness. And a layer of sensing medium is used outside of the fiber to make the structure effective. Any unknown biomolecular analyte can be detected by placing or flowing it on the metal surface. Guiding properties and results are investigated using Finite element method (FEM). Results show that maximum sensitivity is 4000 nm/RIU, as well as resolution, is 2.5 × 10−5 RIU of the proposed sensor.

Interaction Properties of Geosynthetic with Different Backfill Soils

Characterization of a geosynthetic is necessary for its effective use in various field application of reinforced soil structure. In this paper, a new type of geosynthetic has been evaluated for its interaction properties for different backfill soils using direct shear device. The test results are compared based on the type of soils, inclusions, and interface mechanical properties. Three backfills soils (sandy, clayey, and pure sand) in combination with four different geosynthetics (one geotextile and three geogrids) were tested at various loading conditions in direct shear. Test results reveal that the stress-deformation behaviour of the geotextile and geogrid interfaces with sandy and clayey backfills can be defined as hyperbolic. For the pure sand-geogrid interfaces, the relationship is followed by displacement hardening and softening behaviour. The dilatancy behaviour of a particular soil-geosynthetic interface is found similar at all normal stresses. Both contractive and dilative nature is observed for the interfaces with pure sand. On the contrary, only negative dilatancy or contractive behaviour is observed for sandy and clayey backfills with the same geosynthetics. The test results reveal that the relationship of the interface shear strength with the normal stress is not linear in most cases. Based on the test results, a simplified nonlinear equation is proposed for the soil-geosynthetic interface shear strength envelops which was in good agreement with the experimental data.

While several recent studies have focused on elimi-nating the imbalance of energy stored in series-connected battery cells,very little attention has been given to balancing the energy stored in parallel-connected battery *** such,this paper aims at presenting a new balancing approach for parallel LiFePO_(4) battery *** this regard,a Backpropagation Neural Network(BPNN)based technique is employed to develop a Battery Management System(BMS)that can assess the charging status of all cells and control its operations through a DC/DC Buck-Boost *** results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in balancing the energy stored in parallel-connected battery cells in which the state of charge(SoC)estimation error is found to be only 1.15%.

Waste Shell Husks Concrete: Durability, Permeability and Mechanical Properties

Shell husk is annually produced as a byproduct of shell production in Japan. According to Japanese Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and Agriculture, the amount of the abandoned shell husk is about 151,000 tons per year. This huge amount of abandoned shell husk is not only thrown away without any commercial return but also causing pollution and environmental problems. To mitigate the pollution and environmental problems, possible utilization of abandoned shell husk is thoroughly observed in concrete construction. Overall response of the mechanical properties of concrete specimens containing different percentage of abandoned shell husk aggregates such as 0, 10%, 0, 30%, 40% and 50% in the ratio of mass is demonstrated. Results of engineering properties such as compressive strength,Young’s modulus, tensile strength, unit weight, water absorption capacity and coefficient of hydraulic conductivity are depicted. It is observed that the use of shell husk in concrete improves strength and durability performance of concrete treated in aggressive sea environments.

This paper describes design and calibration procedures of a new small-scale testing apparatus for evaluating soil-structure interaction. Two distinct modes of loadings, such as, direct shear and pullout loadings on flexible and rigid reinforcements are implemented by the multiple functionalities of the apparatus through the use of single loading frame, dividing mechanism, instrumentation and data acquisition systems. The design is similar to the conventional apparatus; however, it includes some key modifications to adapt additional features of reinforcements. For the pullout test, the top half of the pullout box is fixed with the bottom half of the pullout box, while for the direct shear test, the top half is allowed to slide horizontally on low friction roller bearings connected to the driving mechanism. Mechanical loadings through a steel plate are used to apply the normal load in the pullout and direct shear apparatus. A series of shear and pullout tests are performed to validate the functionality of the apparatus and to examine relationships between the reinforcements and its shear and pullout resistances.
