Background: Haemonchosis is a major economic problem in goat production in humid, tropical and subtropical regions. The disease is caused by an abomasal nematode, Haemonchus contortus, which is highly pathogenic in small ruminants. The aim of this study was to identifying single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) that were associated with fecal egg counts(FEC) and could be used as markers to identify resistance to H. contortus in ***: Ten novel variants in the CI TA, ATP2 A3, HSPA8, STAT5 B, ESYT1, and SERPING1 genes were associated with FEC in goats with a nominal significance level of P G SNP locus in al goat breeds. Pairwise coefficients of linkage disequilibrium(D′, r2)revealed complete LD(r2= 1) between significant SNP polymorphisms in CI TA and SERPING1 and strong LD(r2= 0.93 and0.98) between polymorphisms in HSPA8 and ATP2 A3, respectively. Correlation coefficient(r) between FEC and body weight(BW) was significantly positive(r = 0.56***, P < 0.001) but that between FEC and packed cel volume(PCV) was negatively significant(r =-0.47**, P < 0.01) in the total population of goats. On the other hand, correlation coefficient(r)between BW and PCV was not significant in total population of goats. Association analysis revealed that haplotypes within ATP2 A3, HSPA8, and SERPING1 were significantly associated with FEC. A research work was performed under sub-tropical condition (24°8'N, 90°0'E) at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University with three wheat genotypes (BARI Gom 25, BARI Gom 26 and Pavon 76) to observe the mobilization of seed reserve and seedling growth under normal (15°C/25°C) and elevated (25°C/35°C) temperature in growth chamber. The effect of high temperature on wheat seedling was observed in terms of mobilized seed reserve, respiration and transpiration efficiency and seedling growth. At 35°C temperature, maximum mobilization of seed reserve was observed in BARI Gom varieties (BARI Gom 25 and 26) but the respiration efficiency was higher in Pavon 76 in comparison to other genotypes. Maximum loss of respiration and transpiration at 35°C temperature was found to produce low seedling growth in Pavon 76. It appeared from the result that at high temperature the maximum mobilized seed reserve and subsequently minimum loss of respiration and transpiration collectively contributed a positive role for better seedling growth in BARI Gom 25 and BARI Gom 26. Therefore the better mobilized seed reserve and subsequently minimum loss of respiration and transpiration during seedling development are indicators of the thermo tolerance in growing wheat seedling.

研究了体外培养一种孟加拉传统香蕉（Musa ***）的茎尖组织。茎尖的原始细胞表面经无菌处理（0．1％HgCl2处理12min），接种6～15d后外植体地下茎部分仍有微生物污染（大部分是细菌），杀死了85％的外植体。为确定无污染培养基，将等量外植体分别浸泡在舍400mg／L氨苄青霉素和200mg／L庆大霉素（两种光谱抗生素）的培养基中1h。结果表明，经抗生素处理的外植体完全没有污染，但培养3周后不能再生。进行二次继代培养后，其中一部分外植体吸收了培养基并胀大，颜色由苍白转变成浅绿或深绿。三次继代培养后数天，不再观察到外植体的生长，所有经抗生素处理过的外植体都开始死亡。在未经抗生素处理的活外植体中，单个茎发育的最佳培养基是：Ms＋4．0mg／LBA＋0．5mg/L KT＋15％CW，平均生长时间为18～21d，但再生率很低，只有30％。茎细胞增殖的最佳培养基是：MS＋4．0mg／L BA＋2．0mg／L IAA＋15％CW，每个茎平均只萌发3～4个芽。最后，在添加0．5mg／L IBA的一半浓度的MS培养基中，体外培养茎最大生根率达到90％。

Salinity is the major limiting factor for forage productivity in southwestern coastal region of Bangladesh. Some introduced forage cultivars have been shown promising adaptability in saline conditions. The objective of this study was to assess the productivity and measure the agronomic characteristics of several introduced grass species with different created soil salinity levels. This study was conducted at the net house of Dr. Purnendu Gain Field Laboratory, Agrotechnology Discipline, and Khulna University during the period from December 2017 to February 2018. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized complete block design with seven replications. The experiment consisted of two factor viz. soil salinity levels (S1 = 0.48, S2 = 5.8, S3 = 7.9, S4 = 9.4, S5 = 15 d·Sm−1) and thirteen forage genotypes. Salinity levels and forage genotypes significantly (p 1 at 90 DAS while the shortest plant (24.53 cm) was obtained in S5 at 90 DAS. Soil salinity had a significant difference (p 1, whereas the lowest (0.48) was in S5 at 75 DAS. Soil salinity had a significant difference (p 1, while the lowest biomass wt. Introduction:Seasonal and tidal variations in nutrient concentration and water quality were investigated in the western Sundarbans of Bangladesh during the post-monsoon,winter and monsoon seasons during 2010–***:Water collected from the surface,middle and bottom layers at six locations of the Kholpetua-Arpangashia river system during high and low tides was analyzed for temperature,salinity,pH,dissolved oxygen(DO),total dissolved solids(TDS),electrical conductivity(EC)and dissolved nutrients(NO3–N,PO4–P,SO4 and NH3–N).Results:The study revealed that nutrient concentrations were influenced by seasonal *** nutrient levels during post-monsoon,winter and monsoon seasons,respectively,were in the following ranges:nitrate(0.06–0.40,0.06–0.46 and 0.08–0.46 mg/L);phosphate(0.09–0.18,0.05–0.42 and 0.10–0.16 mg/L);sulphate(58.71–86.14,68.68–119.01 and 78.15–136.47 mg/L)and ammonia(0.02–0.08,0.02–0.04 and 0.26–0.38 mg/L).Increased levels of PO4–P,SO4 and NH3–N and lower DO and salinity were recorded during the monsoon *** of the experimental sites showed higher NO3–N content during monsoon,whereas few elevated concentrations were observed during post-monsoon and winter *** and low tidal waters contained mean nutrient levels in the following ranges:nitrate(0.05–0.46 and 0.04–0.40 mg/L);phosphate(0.05–0.42 and 0.07–0.18 mg/L);sulphate(63.63–125.36 and 58.71–136.47 mg/L)and ammonia(0.02–0.38 and 0.02–0.37 mg/L)without following any distinct fluctuation *** western part of the Sundarbans receives less freshwater input during the monsoon season than other areas of the ecosystem,which reduces the variability of nutrient levels and water quality ***:This study provides considerable advances in understanding the seasonality of nutrient distribution with possible tidal *** data generated from this study will guide continuing efforts to support a sound management for coastal mangrove ecosystems.

Introduction:The Rupsha-Passur River System(RS)is one of the biggest and important river systems in the Sundarbans estuarine *** is the largest fresh water supplier into this mangrove forest.A comprehensive study was undertaken to evaluate the tidal and seasonal variations in nutrient concentrations(nitrate,phosphate,sulphate and ammonia)of the RS during October,2010(Post monsoon),February,2011(Dry winter)and August 2011(Monsoon).In-situ measurement and laboratory analysis were conducted to measure nutrients and other physico-chemical parameters at discrete water layers of five study points under different tidal ***:Following post monsoon,NH3–N concentration showed seasonal variation with increasing trend(0.0703 to 0.0803 mg/L)in dry winter and then significant dropping(0.013 to 0.019 mg/L)in monsoon *** field observation,no significant tidal variation in ammonia concentration was identified among the study *** monsoon and winter time observation recorded lower SO4 content(7.301 to 37.508 mg/L)at all the sampling stations while in monsoon period,most of the stations showed higher concentration up to 126.92 mg/*** to post monsoon season with comparatively higher PO4–P value(0.314 to 1.347 mg/L),winter and monsoon period sampling indicated low phosphate concentrations(0.045 to 0.5 mg/L)in the Rupsha-Passur *** of the study sites showed considerable tidal changes in phosphate value during post monsoon and monsoon season while only two stations went through tidal fluctuation in sulphate content during monsoon *** of NO3–N were found to fluctuate between 0.083 and 1.233 mg/L with no distinct seasonal distribution *** variation of NO3–N in the experimental sites was not so prominent during post monsoon period as of winter ***:Present study will serve as a basis for future hydrological and environmental studies in the world’s largest Sundarbans intertidal mangrove *** results i

Two tolerant (BB24 and BB43) and two susceptible (BARI busbean-2 and BB04) genotypes of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were evaluated for their water status and its relationship with reproductive responses under continuous water stress (50% field capacity) and control (80% field capacity) conditions in a net house covered with polyethylene sheet at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh. Under water stress condition, the susceptible genotype namely BB04 exhibited more negative leaf water potential (LWP) which was followed by that of BARI bushbean-2 in all the time of the day except at noon. The tolerant genotype namely BB24 exhibited less negative LWP at noon. The tolerant genotypes maintained higher relative water content (WRC) than the susceptible ones from dawn to dusk. The relationship between RWC and LWP was examined separately for four genotypes under water stress condition. The genotype BB24 showed a smaller decrease in RWC with more negative LWP than BB04. Water stress reduced pod setting ratio. The relationship between the leaf water status and reproductive responses showed that the genotype with a little reduction in mid-day drop of RWC or with high mid-day RWC displayed a high pod setting ratio.
