A Review on D 614G Mutation with Bangladesh Scenario

With the COVID-19 pandemic, disparities between the infection rate and death rate in different countries become a major concern. In some countries, lower mortality rate compared to others can be explained by better testing capacity and intensive care facilities. Complete SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences from different countries of the world are continually submitted to Global Initiative for Sharing All Influenza Data using Next Generation Sequencing method. A SARS-CoV-2 variant with a D 614G Mutation in the spike (S) protein has become the most dominant form in the global pandemic. There are a number of ongoing studies trying to relate this mutation with the infectivity, mortality, transmissibility of the virus and its impact on vaccine development. This review aims to accumulate the major findings from some of these studies and focus its future implication. Some studies suggested D 614G strain has increased binding capacity, it affects more cells at a faster rate, so has a high transmissibility. Patients infected with this strain were found with high viral load. But still now there is no such evidence that this strain produces more severe disease as well as increased mortality. The structural change of spike protein produced by D 614G mutation was minor and did not hamper the vaccine efficacy. Some studies showed antibodies produced against D614 strain can neutralize G614 strain and vice versa. Whenever a mutation occurs in spike protein there are always chances of affecting the infectivity, transmissibility, vaccine efficacy. Therefore, more studies are required to find out the overall effect of D 614G mutation.

Impact of Action Observation Therapy along with Usual Physiotherapy Intervention of Individual with Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive impairments in the initial stage, which lead to severe cognitive dysfunction in the later stage. Action observation therapy (AOT) is a multisensory cognitive rehabilitation technique where the patient initially observes the actions and then tries to perform. The study aimed to examine the impact of AOT along with usual physiotherapy interventions to reduce depression, improve cognition and balance of a patient with AD. A 67 years old patient with AD was selected for this study because the patient has been suffering from depression, dementia, and physical dysfunction along with some other health conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Before starting intervention, a baseline assessment was done through the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) tool, the Mini-Cog Scale, and the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). The patient received 12 sessions of AOT along with usual physiotherapy interventions thrice a week for four weeks, which included 45 minutes of each session. After four weeks of intervention, the patient demonstrated significant improvement in depression, cognition, and balance, whereas the BDI score declined from moderate 21/63 to mild 15/63 level of depression. The Mini-Cog score improved from 2/5 to 4/5, and the BBS score increased from 18/56 to 37/56. It is concluded that AOT along with usual physiotherapy intervention helps to reduce depression, improve cognition and balance of people with AD.

Janus Quasi‑Solid Electrolyte Membranes with Asymmetric Porous Structure for High‑Performance Lithium‑Metal Batteries

Quasi-solid electrolytes(QSEs)based on nanoporous materials are promising candidates to construct high-performance Limetal batteries(LMBs).However,simultaneously boosting the ionic conductivity(σ)and lithium-ion transference number(t^(+)) of liquid electrolyte confined in porous matrix remains ***,we report a novel Janus MOFLi/MSLi QSEs with asymmetric porous structure to inherit the benefits of both mesoporous and microporous *** Janus QSE composed of mesoporous silica and microporous MOF exhibits a neat Li^(+) conductivity of 1.5.10^(–4)S cm^(−1) with t^(+) of 0.71.A partially de-solvated structure and preference distribution of Li^(+)near the Lewis base O atoms were depicted by md.***,the nanoporous structure enabled efficient ion flux regulation,promoting the homogenous deposition of Li^(+).When incorporated in Li||Cu cells,the MOFLi/MSLi QSEs demonstrated a high Coulombic efficiency of 98.1%,surpassing that of liquid electrolytes(96.3%).Additionally,NCM 622||Li batteries equipped with MOFLi/MSLi QSEs exhibited promising rate performance and could operate stably for over 200 cycles at 1 *** results highlight the potential of Janus MOFLi/MSLi QSEs as promising candidates for next-generation LMBs.

Corrosion failure accidents owing to flow erosion and pipeline corrosion frequently occur during *** welding reinforcement height(WRH)can induce locally micro-turbulent flow field,which aggravates local corrosion of welded joints.A high wall shear stress(WsS)experimental setup was established to conduct the online electrochemical corrosion *** influence of WRH sizes on local corrosion of welded joints was studied at different flow *** electrochemical signals of the local corrosion of X80 welded joints at different flow rates were monitored in real time using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and wire beam *** addition,the corrosion products composition and properties were *** results show that the micro-turbulent flow fields induced by the WRHs can enhance ion mass transfer near the welded *** corrosion products on the WRH surface also present different microscopic morphologies at different flow *** strong flow fields,the locally enhanced wsS can peel off the dense corrosion product partially,leading to the electrochemical distribution of large cathode and small anode,which accelerates the occurrence and development processes of the local corrosion of welded *** scientific guidelines for the corrosion protection of long-distance oil and gas pipelines can be potentially provided.

目的: 探讨视知觉学习在青光眼患者视功能康复中的应用价值。方法: 前瞻性病例对照研究。招募2018年4月至2022年6月在通用医疗成都三六三医院眼科就诊且病情控制稳定的青光眼患者43例(60眼), 并将其随机分为对照组22例(30眼)和研究组21例(30眼)。对照组进行常规治疗, 研究组在常规治疗的基础上, 接受每日1次, 为期3个月的视知觉学习, 分别在学习前, 学习后1周及1、3、6个月检测最佳矫正视力(BCVA)、眼压、视野平均缺损(md.和视网膜神经纤维层(RNFL)厚度。对照组在没有任何其他干预的情况下维持常规治疗, 并且在同样时间节点完成相同的视功能检查。采用重复测量方差分析, 对2组治疗前和治疗后1周及1、3、6个月的BCVA、眼压、md.RNFL厚度进行比较。结果: 2组间在治疗前各指标间比较差异均无统计学意义(均P>0.05)。学习后研究组的各个阶段BCVA均高于对照组, 进一步两两比较显示在治疗后1个月对照组和研究组BCVA分别为0.21±0.25和0.11±0.20, 差异有统计学意义(P=0.049)。2组眼压、md.RNFL厚度在各时间节点上差异均无统计学意义(均P>0.05)。结论: 视知觉学习能有效改善青光眼患者BCVA, 为青光眼的康复提供一种新的策略, 并能进一步改善青光眼患者的生活质量。
