Rice and wheat provide nearly 40%of human calorie and protein *** share a common ancestor and belong to the Poaceae(grass)*** their genetic homology is crucial for developing new cultivars with enhanced *** wheat genes and gene families have been characterized based on their rice ***–wheat orthology can identify genetic regions that regulate similar traits in both ***–wheat comparative genomics can identify candidate wheat genes in a genomic region identified by association or QTL mapping,deduce their putative functions and biochemical pathways,and develop molecular markers for marker-assisted breeding.A knowledge of gene homology facilitates the transfer between crops of genes or genomic regions associated with desirable traits by genetic engineering,gene editing,or wide crossing.

Integration of 1D and 3D modeling schemes to establish the Farewell Formation as a self-sourced reservoir in Kupe Field,Taranaki Basin, New Zealand

Along with conventional methods, this paper proposed a method in which 1 D and 3 D models are integrated to identify the self-sourced reservoir potential of the Farewell Formation in the Kupe Gas Field within the Taranaki Basin, New Zealand. Source rock characteristics were evaluated at both field and basin scales by investigating source rock maturity, type of organic matter,and hydrocarbon generation potential by rock pyrolysis,using Rock-Eval 2 and 6. The 1 D thermal and burial history model established the rate of sedimentation and thermal history of the Kupe 4 well. Reservoir characterization at field-scale was determined by seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and 3 D structural and petrophysical models. The sediments of the Farewell Formation contain types II-III（oil/gas prone） and type III（gas prone） and have fair-to-excellent generation potential. The oxygen and hydrogen indices ranged from 3 to 476 mg CO2/g TOC and 26 to 356 mg HC/g TOC, respectively, whereas the thermal maturity determined by vitrinite reflectance values ranged between 0.3% and 0.72%, indicating that the Farewell Formation is in immature-to-mature hydrocarbon generation stage. Thus, Farewell Formation was verified to be a good source rock. Additionally, structural interpretations demonstrated the structural complexity of an extensional and contractional regime within the reservoir package. Multiple faults indicated a good reservoir property there with a trapping mechanism as well as migration paths. A well-log-based petrophysical analysis established the presence of up to 70% hydrocarbon saturation within the pore spaces of Farewell *** 3 D models confirmed that the Farewell Formation has significant sand zones and hydrocarbon-saturated zones,thereby proving its very good reservoir characteristics. It has been proved that the 1 D and 3 D structural schemes,integrated with geological techniques, was vital in identifying the Kupe Field as a self-sourced reservoir.

AP-3 adaptor complex-mediated vesicle trafficking

The transport of cargo proteins to specific subcellular destinations is crucial for the different secretory and endocytic traffic pathways. One of the most important steps in maintaining the accuracy of this process is the recruitment of adaptor protein(AP) complexes to the membrane for recognizing and packaging cargo proteins into nascent vesicles. Adaptor protein complex 3(AP-3) is a heterotetrametric complex implicated in the trafficking of cargo proteins from the trans-Golgi network(TGN) and/or endosomes to lysosomes or lysosome-related organelles(LROs). This complex is also involved in the biogenesis of synaptic vesicles(SVs) in neurons and of dense core vesicles(DCVs) in endocrine cells as well as in the recycling of receptors in immune cells and the regulation of planar cell polarity(PCP)proteins. Functional defects in AP-3 cause multiple abnormalities in cellular vesicle trafficking and related organelle function, leading to various disorders, such as Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome(HPS).However, the molecular mechanism underlying AP-3 has not been fully elucidated, and further investigations are needed to understand AP-3-mediated trafficking, its associated molecules and its related roles in inherited diseases. Here, we review the current understanding of AP-3 in cellular vesicle trafficking, especially focusing on mammalian systems.

We report the design of a nanophotonic metaloxide front contact aimed at perovskite solar cells(PSCs)to enhance optoelectronic properties and device stability in the presence of ultraviolet(UV)***-quality Cr-doped ZnO film was prepared by industrially feasible magnetron sputter deposition for the electron transport layer of *** a means,the influence of the Cr content on the film and device was systematically ***-depth device optics and electrical effects were studied using advanced three-dimensional opto-electrical multiphysics rigorous simulations,optimizing the front contact for realizing high *** numerical simulation was validated by fabricating PSCs optimized to reach high performance,energy conversion efficiency(ECE)=17.3%,open-circuit voltage(V_(OC))=1.08 V,short-circuit current density(J_(SC))=21.1 mA cm^(-2),and fillfactor(FF)=76%.Finally,a realistic front contact of nanophotonic architecture was proposed while improving broadband light absorption of the solar spectrum and light harvesting,resulting in enhanced quantum efficiency(QE).The nanophotonic PSC enables J_(SC)improvement by~17%while reducing the reflection by 12%,resulting in an estimated conversion efficiency over 23%.It is further demonstrated how the PSCs’UV-stability can be improved without considerably sacrificing optoelectronic *** of nanophotonic designed ZnO:Cr front contact,PSCs device,and fabrication process are described.

Effect of Tillage and Residue Retention on Soil Properties and Crop Yields in Wheat-Mungbean-Rice Crop Rotation under Subtropical Humid Climate

The effects of conservation agriculture (CA) practices on soil properties along with crop yields of rice-based triple cropping systems have not been adequately assessed in Bangladesh. An experiment was conducted at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur, Bangladesh from 2009 to 2012 to assess the effects of tillage practices and crop residue retention on soil physical properties, soil organic carbon (SOC) and crop yields in a wheat-mungbean-rice system. Treatments consisted of three tillage practices (MT: minimum tillage;CT: conventional tillage and DT: deep tillage) and eight levels of crop residue management (S0—no residues retention, Sr—retention of 30 cm rice straw, Sm—whole mungbean stover retention, SW—30 cm wheat straw retention, Smr—whole mungbean stover & 30 cm rice straw retention, Srw—30 cm rice & wheat straw retention, Smw—whole mungbean stover & 30 cm wheat straw retention and Swrm—30 cm wheat and rice straw along with whole mungbean stover retention) were applied in split plot design with three replications. Bulk density (BD) and porosity responded positively to MT and increased residue retention of all crops (p > 0.05). Minimum tillage and Swrm also significantly accumulated SOC (p < 0.05;0.38% higher than DT with no residue retention) and retained soil moisture (p < 0.05). Minimum tillage practice performed better in upland crops (p < 0.05;wheat & mungbean yields) and CT outperformed MT in wetland rice crop (p < 0.05). The grain and straw yields of wheat and rice were also influenced by previous crop residue retentions (p < 0.05). The results, therefore, suggested that increased residue retention with minimum tillage practices improved soil properties and yield of upland crops but with deeper tillage practices consistently maintained wetland rice production.

Proposal for dispersion compensating square-lattice photonic crystal fiber

A dispersion-compensating square-lattice photonic crystal fiber for broadband compensation which covers the S, C and L communication bands, i.e. wavelength ranging from 1 460 nm to 1 625 nm is proposed in this paper. Theoretically, it is shown a negative dispersion coefficient of about-595 ps/(nm·km) to-1 288 ps/(nm·km) over S to L bands and-975 ps/(nm·km) at the operating wavelength 1 550 nm. The relative dispersion slope is perfectly matched to that of conventional single-mode fiber of about 0.003 6 nm^(-1). Besides the proposed photonic crystal fiber shows the large nonlinear coefficient of 61.88 W/km at the operating wavelength of 1 550 nm. Moreover, the variation of structural parameters is also studied and discussed here.

The current study investigated the comparative oxidative damage in twomaize seedlings induced by saline,drought,and combined stress and the ameliorative role of two different doses(20 and 80μM)of 5-aminolevulinic acid(ALA)against the above-mentioned *** grown 10-day-old maize(Zea mays,*** Hybrid Maize-7(BHM-7)and BARI Hybrid Maize-9(BHM-9))seedlings were exposed to 12 dS/m of saline solution,200 mM mannitol-induced drought stress alone and their combined stress for 7 *** revealed that individual stresses retard the plant growth to some degrees,however,their combined stress has more detrimental effects,which might be correlated with lipid peroxidation(mdA)-induced oxidative stress in seedlings,enhanced Na+/K+ratio,and augmented generation of superoxide(O_(2)•^(−))and hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)).In contrast,exogenous ALA supplementation at 20μM concentration markedly recovered from chlorosis and growth inhibition,substantially scavenged reactive oxygen species(ROS)and mdA by preserving ionhomeostasis and relaxing oxidative stress,also,by boosting catalase(CAT)and glutathione S-transferase(GST),and exclusively via depressing the activity of lipoxygenase(LOX)antioxidant *** the contrary,80μM ALA made things worse,nevertheless,higher activities shown by other antioxidant enzymes,like,superoxide dismutase(SOD),ascorbate peroxidase(APX),peroxidase(POD),and glutathione peroxidase(GPX),which were related to lessen the oxidative damage by highly produced O_(2)•^(−)and H_(2)O_(2) under combined ***-denaturing gel electrophoresis was done for further ***,ALA importantly increased the photosynthetic pigment contents in both genotypes irrespective of ***,GST might have assisted the plants to escape from the herbicidal effect by ***,in the combined stress condition,high ALA concentration may have some positive role to *** findings also showed that BHM-9 performed better than BHM

Synthesis, Spectral Characterization and Thermal Behavior of Newly Derived La(III), Co(III) and Mn(II) Complexes with Schiff Base Derived from Methionine and Salicylaldehyde

Many metal complexes of Schiff base derived from different amino acids are widely employed as biologically active materials, especially as antibacterial agents. Three new metal [Co(III), Mn(II) and La(III)] complexes with the Schiff base (L) derived from salicylaldehyde and amino acid (methionine) were synthesized and investigated by using various physico-chemical techniques such as elemental analysis, FTIR, UV-visible spectroscopy, magnetic measurement, thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) method. From spectral studies, it has been concluded that the synthesized ligand acts as a tetra-dentate molecule, coordinates metal through azomethine nitrogen, sulfur, phenolic oxygen and carboxylate oxygen. UV-visible spectrophotometry showed the characteristic absorption bands corresponding to a square planar geometry for La(III) and Mn(II) metal complexes and tetrahedral geometry for Co(III) complex. The XRD data demonstrated that the manganese and cobalt complexes were crystalline but the lanthanum complex was amorphous in nature. The empirical formula of the synthesized complexes based on analytical data were [Co(C12H13SNO3)]·(NO3), [La(C12H13SNO3)](Cl)(H2O) and [Mn (C12H13SNO3)].

Households’ Willingness to Pay for Disaster Resilient Safe Drinking Water Sources in Southwestern Coastal Bangladesh

Nonfunctionality of engineered water sources after two catastrophic cyclones—Sidr in November 2007 and Aila in May 2009—created acute scarcity of safe drinking water in coastal *** objective of this study was to estimate households’willingness to pay(WTP)for disaster resilient water sources in Dacope upazila of Khulna District in southwestern coastal *** applying the double bounded dichotomous contingent valuation method to a dataset of 250 randomly selected households,we found that the mean WTP is BDT 263 and that inaccessibility to functional safe drinking water sources is the most significant determining factor of households’*** mean WTP for a disaster resilient water source project in the study area,we measured a present value of aggregate WTP over project’s life span worth about BDT 624(USD 7.37)million,which is about14.30 times the present value of project’s aggregate establishment and maintenance ***,charging the local inhabitants a water tariff at mean WTP would lead to the exclusion of around 50%of the people from getting access to the improved water services or create a free riding *** simulation exercises this study determined that the socially optimal water tariff is BDT 50 per *** tariff would not only generate revenue of more than five times the project cost but would also create access to disaster resilient improved drinking water sources for almost 99%of the people.

This paper presents a new Double-E-Triple-H-Shaped NRI(negative refractive index)metamaterial(MM)for dual-band microwave sensing ***,a horizontal H-shaped metal structure is enclosed by two face-to-face E-shaped metal *** double-E-H-shaped design is also encased by two vertical H-shaped structures along with some copper ***,the Double-E-Triple-H-Shaped configuration is *** popular substrate materials of Rogers RO 3010 and FR-4 were adopted for analyzing the characteristics of the unit *** proposed structure exhibits transmission resonance inside the S-band with NRI and ENG(Epsilon Negative)metamaterial properties,and inside the C-band with ENG and MNG(Mu Negative)metamaterial properties.A good effective medium ratio(EMR)of 8.06 indicates the compactness and effectiveness of the proposed *** analysis has been done by changing the thickness of the substrate material as well and a significant change in the effective medium ratio is *** validity of the proposed structure is confirmed by an equivalent circuit *** simulated result agrees well with the calculated *** exploring microwave sensing applications of the proposed unit cell,permittivity and pressure sensitivity performance were investigated in different simulation *** compact size,effective parameters,high sensitivity and a good EMR represent the proposed metamaterial as a promising solution for S-band and C-band microwave sensing applications.
