Rice and wheat provide nearly 40%of human calorie and protein requirements.They share a common ancestor and belong to the Poaceae(grass)family.Characterizing their genetic homology is crucial for developing new cultivars with enhanced traits.Several wheat genes and gene families have been characterized based on their rice orthologs.Rice–wheat orthology can identify genetic regions that regulate similar traits in both crops.Rice–wheat comparative genomics can identify candidate wheat genes in a genomic region identified by association or QTL mapping,deduce their putative functions and biochemical pathways,and develop molecular markers for marker-assisted breeding.A knowledge of gene homology facilitates the transfer between crops of genes or genomic regions associated with desirable traits by genetic engineering,gene editing,or wide crossing.

Relationship between Seed Priming Mediated Seedling Vigor and Yield Performance of Spring Wheat

Seed priming is a pre-germinated technique that can enhance seed germination percentage,faster and synchro-nized germination,better seedling growth,and yield under stress conditions.To ascertain the most effective seed priming method that would ensure the potential yield of wheat in Bangladesh,two experiments were carried out from December 2021 to March 2022 at the Department of Agronomy,Bangladesh Agricultural University.Two wheat varieties namely BARI Gom-28 and BWMRI Gom-1 were subjected to a range of priming chemicals in both lab and pot tests.These compounds included the following:control(no priming),hydropriming(distilled water),10000 ppm KNO_(3),15000 ppm KNO_(3),40000 ppm Mannitol,60000 ppm Mannitol,10000 ppm NaCl,20000 ppm NaCl,100 ppm PEG,150 ppm PEG,500 ppm NaOCl,1000 ppm NaOCl,10000 ppm CaCl_(2),20000 ppm CaCl_(2),10000 ppm KCl and 20000 ppm KCl.A complete randomized design(CRD)with three repli-cations was used to set up the experiments.The results showed that BARI Gom-28 and BWMRI Gom-1 responded best to KCl priming in terms of rapid seed germination and strong seedling development.On the other hand,the best priming agents for plant growth and productivity turned out to be CaCl_(2) and KCL.The results of this study support the possibility of using seed priming as a technique to improve wheat plant development and output by raising seed emergence and survival rates.

The estimation of stature is very important in forensic investigation,as it provides useful data that can narrow the pool of potentially matching identities.The purpose of this study was to develop formulae for the estimation of stature from footprint measurements in Bangladeshi adults.This study included 118 randomly selected men and 130 randomly selected women,all aged 18–50 years.From each participant,stature and six footprint measurements were taken by means of standard measurement techniques.Footprint measurements were found to be positively correlated with stature.Stature was estimated by using linear regression equations.The right T1 length in men(R:þ0.587,R^(2):0.345)and the right T2 length in women(R:þ0.506,R^(2):0.256)were the most reliable individual estimators of stature.However,when data were combined for both sexes,the right T2 length was identified as the most reliable estimator of stature,with higher values of R(þ0.792)and R^(2)(0.627).In conclusion,human stature can be successfully estimated by using footprint measurements;this finding can be applied in forensic research and investigation.

Graphene oxide(GO) is a 2D coating material used to improve fiber optics sensors' response to relative humidity. Microbottle resonators(MBRs) have garnered more attention as sensing media structures. An MBR with a 190 μm diameter was coated with GO. Then, tapered fiber light coupling was used to investigate the relative humidity sensing performance in the range of 35—70%RH at 25 °C. The MBR showed a higher Q factor before and after GO coating. The sensitivity of 0.115 d B/%RH was recorded with the 190 μm GO-coated MBR sample compared to a sensitivity of 0.022 d B/%RH for the uncoated MBR sample. These results show that the MBR can be used in fiber optic sensing applications for environmental sensing.

In operations research, the transportation problem (TP) is among the earliest and most effective applications of the linear programming problem. Unbalanced transportation problems reflect the reality of supply chain and logistics situations where the available supply of goods may not precisely match the demand at different locations. To deal with an unbalanced transportation problem (UTP), it is essential first to convert it into a balanced transportation problem (BTP) to find an initial basic feasible solution (IBFS) and hence the optimal solution. The present paper is concerned with introducing a new approach to convert an unbalanced transportation problem into a balanced one and as a consequence to obtain optimum total transportation cost. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the suggested method.

Objective:To measure highly pathogenic avian influenza(HPAI)-related knowledge,attitudes, and practices(KAPs) among Cambodian women.Methods:This cross-sectional study selected 246 married women aged between 18-55 years who had backyard poultry and lived at least one year in the areas of the survey through multi-stage cluster sampling.An average score of correct answers was generated to evaluate respondents’ knowledge(Good/Poor).attitudes(Positive/ Negative),and practices(Good/Bad).Results:We reported that about half of the respondents had good knowledge and good practices and four-fifth of them had positive attitudes towards HPAl.Odds ratios(ORs) and 95%confidence intervals(CIs) were estimated through a logistic regression model to explore contributing factors that raise their KAP levels.Most of the sources were significant in increasing knowledge of the respondent,like television(OR=l.6.95%CI=1.0- 2.7),radio(OR=2.5.95%CI=l.3-4.9).leaflets/booklets(OR=2.1,95%CI=1.2-3.9),school students (OR=18.4.95%CI=2.4-142.9).village health volunteers(OR=4.5.95%CI=2.2-10.9) etc.Factors such as television(OR=3.7.95%CI=2.1-6.4).leaflets/booklets(OR=2.6,95%CI7=1.4-5.1).and public health staff(OR=2.2,95%CI=1.2-4.1) had similar influence on practices.Although,we found similar effect on raising the attitudes of the responded,it was not significant.Conclusions: We report a satisfactory level of positive attitudes,and moderate level of knowledge and practices related to HPAI among Cambodian women.Raising KAPs through television,radio and other medias may be more efficient than using usual information,education and communication materials to prevent HPAI.

COVID-19 Detection from Chest X-Ray Images Using Convolutional Neural Network Approach

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, first identified in 2019. The primary mode of transmission is through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, and timely diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment. Chest X-Ray imaging is one diagnostic tool used for COVID-19, and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is a popular technique for image classification. In this study, we proposed a CNN-based approach for detecting COVID-19 in chest X-Ray images. The model was trained on a dataset containing both COVID-19 positive and negative cases and evaluated on a separate test dataset to measure its accuracy. Our results indicated that the CNN approach could accurately detect COVID-19 in chest X-Ray images, with an overall accuracy of 97%. This approach could potentially serve as an early diagnostic tool to reduce the spread of the virus.

The Internet provides a large number of tools and resources, such as social media sites, online newsgroups, blogs, electronic forums, virtual communities, and online travel sites, for consumers to express their views or opinions regarding various issues. These opinions can help organizations like tourism to improve their products and services for their consumers. Opinion mining refers to a process of identifying emotions by applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to a pool of texts. This paper mainly focuses on mining public opinion from the hotel reviews domain. To do so, we proposed a novel technique called the Attention-Based Long Short Term Memory (Attention-LSTM) Network using a transfer learning approach. We empirically analyzed several machine learning and deep learning methods and observed our proposed technique provided an adequate performance for mining public opinion in the hotel reviews domain.

The evolution of smart mobile devices has significantly impacted the way we generate and share contents and introduced a huge volume of Internet traffic.To address this issue and take advantage of the short-range communication capabilities of smart mobile devices,the decentralized content sharing approach has emerged as a suitable and promising alternative.Decentralized content sharing uses a peer-to-peer network among colocated smart mobile device users to fulfil content requests.Several articles have been published to date to address its different aspects including group management,interest extraction,message forwarding,participation incentive,and content replication.This survey paper summarizes and critically analyzes recent advancements in decentralized content sharing and highlights potential research issues that need further consideration.
