Petrophysical Characteristics of Silurian Mudstones from Central Taurides in Southern Turkey

This study used a range of integrated and complementary experiments to examine porestructure,fluid-shale wetting characteristics,sample size-dependent porosity towards different fluids,and imbibition behavior,as well as the relationships between these properties and the mineralogy of Silurian mudstones in the Central Taurides of *** with different sample-sizes,the experiments consisted of helium pycnometry,low-pressure nitrogen physisorption isotherm,mercury intrusion porosimetry,fluid immersion porosimetry,liquid displacement,fluid droplet wettability and contact angle measurements,and spontaneous imbibition of fluids;four fluids with different hydrophilicity were used to assess the characteristics of fluid-shale interaction and its influence on *** show that studied mudstones can be grouped into three rock types:siliceous,carbonate-dominated,and mixed *** and mixed mudstones have higher porosities,pore-throat diameters,surface areas and tortuosities than the carbonate-dominated mudstones,regardless of sample sizes and fluids *** low permeabilities and medium pore-throat sizes for the siliceous and mixed mudstones,the wettability and imbibition results show that these mudstones are both oil-wet and moderately-to-high *** contrast,the carbonate-dominated mudstones exhibit oil-wet *** results indicate that studied siliceous and mixed mudstones in the Central Taurides seem to have appropriate petrophysical properties in the context of reservoir quality.

Lignocellulosic biomass photoreforming is a promising and alternative strategy for both sustainable H_(2) production and biomass valorization with infinite solar ***,harsh reaction conditions(high alkalinity or toxic organic solvents),with low biomass conversion and selectivity are often reported in *** this work,we report glucose photoreforming for coproduction of H_(2) and arabinose with improved selectivity under neutral condition using carbon quantum dots(CQDs)modified TiO_(2) *** show that the conventional CQDs fabricated by a facile one-step hydrothermal process could be endowed with novel color changing property,due to the particle aggregation under the regulation of incident *** as-fabricated CQDs/TiO_(2) composites with certain colored CQDs could greatly improve glucose to arabinose conversion selectivity(-75%)together with efficient hydrogen evolution(up to 2.43 mmolh^(-1)g^(-1))in *** arabinose is produced via the direct C1-C2 α-scissions mechanism with reactive oxygen species of·O_(2)^(-) and·OH,as evidenced by ^(13)C labeled glucose and the electron spin-resonance(ESR)studies,*** work not only sheds new lights on CQDs assisted photobiorefinery for biomass valorization and H_(2) coproduction,but also opens the door for rationale design of different colored CQDs and their potential applications for solar energy utilization in the noble-metal-free system.

Thermal maturity is commonly assessed by various geochemical screening methods(e.g.,pyrolysis and organic petrology).In this contribution,we attempt to establish an alternative approach to estimating thermal maturity with Raman spectroscopy,using 24 North American oil shale samples with thermal maturity data generated by vitrinite reflectance(VRo%)and pyrolysis(Tmax)-based maturity calculation(VRe%).The representative shale samples are from the Haynesville(East Texas),Woodford(West Texas),Eagle Ford and Pearsall(South Texas)Formations,as well as Gothic,Mancos,and Niobrara Formation shales(all from Colorado).The Raman spectra of disordered carbonaceous matter(D1 and G bands separation)of these samples were directly obtained from the rock chips without prior sample *** the Gaussian and Lorentzian distribution approach,thermal maturities from VR were correlated with carbon G and *** found that the Raman band separation(RBS)displayed a better correlation for equivalent VRe%than vitrinite reflectance VRo%.The RBS(D1–G)distance versus total organic carbon,free hydrocarbons from thermal extraction(S1),and the remaining hydrocarbon generating potential(S2)indicate that the RBS(D1–G)distance is also related to kerogen *** presented here from three methods of maturity determination of shale demonstrate that Raman spectroscopy is a quick and valid approach to thermal maturity assessment.

目的观察SD大鼠腰动脉结扎脊髓缺血损伤后Fas、含半胱氨酰天冬氨酸特异性蛋白酶-3（Caspase-3）、肿瘤坏死因子-α（TNF-α）、核因子-κB（NF-κB）、神经生长因子（NGF）、生长相关蛋白-43（GAP-43）及脑源性神经生长因子（BDNF）表达的变化,探讨SD大鼠脊髓缺血性损伤后自我修复的过程.方法 56只SD大鼠随机分为缺血组和假手术组.假手术组14只,缺血组42只,缺血组分别再随机分为缺血1、2、4、6、8、12和24h组,以假手术组相同阶段的脊髓为对照,采用神经功能评定法（BMS评分）评估各组行为学的变化,并采用免疫组织化学方法检测脊髓中Fas、Caspase-3、TNF-α、NF-κB、NGF、GAP-43及BDNF的表达变化.结果缺血组SD实验大鼠BMS评分在缺血后立即出现显著降低[（0.58 ±0.66）分],至缺血后24h逐渐恢复至正常水平[（8.33±0.61）分],与假手术组比较差异无统计学意义（P＞0.05）,免疫组织化学染色结果显示Fas、Caspase-3、TNF-α、NF-κB表达的阳性细胞数在缺血后立即显著增多,其值分别为（45.50±4.18、47.50±3.27、53.50±7.71、57.83±4.79）,与假手术组比较差异均有统计学意义（P＜0.05）,除Fas外（7.50±1.87）,其余各个指标至缺血后24h逐渐恢复至正常水平,与假手术组比较差异均无统计学意义（P＞0.05）.GAP-43在缺血后阳性表达细胞数立即增多（6.33±1.21）,缺血后各组与假手术组比较差异均有统计学意义（P＜0.05）,NGF在缺血后8 h（37.33±1.37）阳性表达细胞数才开始增多,随后逐渐升高,缺血后8、12、24 h与假手术组比较均有统计学意义（P＜0.05）,BDNF阳性表达细胞数在缺血后1、2h（22.83±1.94、23.83±1.94）显著低于假手术组,于缺血后4 h（31.33±2.16）开始上升,随后逐渐升高,缺血后4、6、8、12、24 h与假手术组比较差异均有统计学意义（P＜0.05）.结论 SD大鼠全部腰动脉结扎致脊髓缺血性损伤后24 h可恢复至正常水平,Fas、Caspase-3、TNF-α、NF-κB表达降低及NGF、GAP-43、BDNF表达增强可能与其自我恢复机制有关.

Elevated price of chemical fertilizers and poor nutrient content in conventional organic sources such as municipal solid waste(MSW)compost necessitate the production of nutrient enriched compost which could serve as a potential alternative organic fertilizer *** studied three types of amended compost that were prepared by mixing 20%mustard oil cake(MOC)and 30%poultry manure(PM)or cow dung or sugarcane press mud(SPM)with 50%MSW *** viride was inoculated into every type of *** rate of amended or unamended MSW compost application was 10 t ha^(−1).The use of different amendments improved the nutrient level of MSW compost,of which the N increment was remarkable,ranging from 1.14%N(unamended compost)to 2.9%–3.22%N depending on the types of amendment.A field experiment was conducted to evaluate performances of the amended MSW composts on the yield and nutrient content of potato(variety BARI Alu25).All compost treatments except the sole MSW compost treatment produced significantly higher tuber yields than the sole fertilizer *** press mud based MSW compost+fertilizer treatment produced the highest tuber yield of 31.6 t ha^(−1)(65%increase over 100%fertilizers and 57%increase over 100%compost treatment).The tuber N concentration varied from 0.128%to 0.594%,P from 0.018%to 0.035%,K from 0.213%to 0.313%and S from 0.020%to 0.053%,with the highest result recorded with press mud+fertilizer *** use of amended composts had residual effects on soil N,P,K and S ***,the treatment containing 50%fertilizer+50%compost mixture(MSW:MOC:SPM in a ratio of 5:2:3)performed the best followed by PM amended *** is concluded that integrated use of 10 t ha^(−1) organic amended MSW compost with chemical fertilizers can ensure higher crop yield,nutrient content and sustained soil fertility in nutrient-deficient sub-tropical soil.

Antioxidant Defense Mechanisms of Salinity Tolerance in Rice Genotypes

In order to elucidate the role of antioxidant responses in salinity tolerance in rice genotypes under salt stress, experiments were conducted using four rice varieties, including salt-sensitive BRRI dhan 28 and three salt-tolerant varieties BRRI dhan 47, BINA dhan 8 and BINA dhan 10. Thirty-day-old rice seedlings were transplanted into pots. At the active tillering stage(35 d after transplanting), plants were exposed to different salinity levels(0, 20, 40 and 60 mmol/L NaCl). Salt stress caused a significant reduction in growth for all the rice genotypes. Growth reduction was higher in the salt-sensitive genotype than in the salt-tolerant ones, and BINA dhan 10 showed higher salt tolerance in all measured physiological parameters. The reduction in shoot and root biomass was found to be minimal in BINA dhan 10. Chlorophyll content significantly decreased under salt stress except for BINA dhan 10. Proline content significantly increased in salt-tolerant rice genotypes with increased salt concentration, and the highest proline content was obtained from BINA dhan 10 under salt stress. Catalase and ascorbate peroxidase activities significantly decreased in salt-sensitive genotype whereas significantly increased in salt-tolerant ones with increasing salt concentration. However, salt stress significantly decreased guaiacol peroxidase activity in all the rice genotypes irrespective of salt tolerance. K^+/Na^+ ratio also significantly decreased in shoots and roots of all the rice genotypes. The salt-tolerant genotype BINA dhan 10 maintained higher levels of chlorophyll and proline contents as well as catalase and ascorbate peroxidase activities under salt stress, thus, this might be the underlying mechanism for salt tolerance.

Analysis of existing agroforestry practices in Madhupur Sal forest: an assessment based on ecological and economic perspectives

A study was conducted in Madhupur sal forest of Tangail, Bangladesh to identify the suitable agroforestry practices of the area. Considering the ecological aspects of different agroforestry practices 10 sample plots （10 m× 10 m） from each land uses were taken, including natural forest to get a comparative scenario. The study showed that among the different agroforestry practices, Margalef and Shannon- Weiner index values are the maximum for pineapple agroforestry and lower for banana agroforestry, and Evenness index value is the maximum for lemon agroforestry. Determination of tree biomass in different land uses revealed that it is highest （3 078.6 kg/100 m^2） in natural forest followed by pineapple agroforestry, lemon agroforestry and banana agroforestry. Soil pH, moisture content, organic matter, organic carbon, phosphorus and total nitrogen showed statistically significant variation while bulk density, particle density, sulphur and potassium did not show any statistically significant variation among the land uses. Soil fertility status showed that pineapple agroforestry is more fertile than rest of other land uses. The Net Present Value （NPV） indicated that banana agroforestry is financially more profitable than other two systems, while the Benefit- Cost ratio （BCR） is higher in pineapple agroforestry （4.21 in participatory agroforestry and 3.35 in privately managed land）. Even though banana agroforestry gives higher NPV, capital required for this practice is much higher. The findings suggest that pineapple agroforestry has a tendency towards becoming ecologically and economically more sound than other two practices as it has better ecological attributes and required comparatively low investment.
