AssessITS: Integrating Procedural Guidelines and Practical Evaluation Metrics for Organizational IT and Cybersecurity Risk Assessment

In today’s digitally driven landscape, robust Information Technology (IT) risk assessment practices are essential for safeguarding systems, digital communication, and data. This paper introduces “AssessITS,” an actionable method designed to provide organizations with comprehensive guidelines for conducting IT and cybersecurity risk assessments. Drawing extensively from NIST 800-30 Rev 1, COBIT 5, and ISO 31000, “AssessITS” bridges the gap between high-level theoretical standards and practical implementation challenges. The paper outlines a step-by-step methodology that organizations can simply adopt to systematically identify, analyze, and mitigate IT risks. By simplifying complex principles into actionable procedures, this framework equips practitioners with the tools needed to perform risk assessments independently, without too much reliance on external vendors. The guidelines are developed to be straightforward, integrating practical evaluation metrics that allow for the precise quantification of asset values, threat levels, vulnerabilities, and impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. This approach ensures that the risk assessment process is not only comprehensive but also accessible, enabling decision-makers to implement effective risk mitigation strategies customized to their unique operational contexts. “AssessITS” aims to enable organizations to enhance their IT security strength through practical, actionable guidance based on internationally recognized standards.

Multistage Triaxial Behavior of Shallow Landslide Hazard Site Soil of Rangamati Sadar Area, Bangladesh

The soil samples were collected from a shallow landslide hazard site of the Rangamati Sadar in Bangladesh to determine the shear strength properties of the soil. Multistage triaxial consolidation undrained test has become worldwide more accepted to determine the shear strength parameters. Multistage triaxial undrained tests were performed on five samples taken from five different depths of boreholes. Samples were evaluated under two natural conditions and three remolded situations. Samples were consolidated before shearing at confining pressures from 50 kPa to 1200 kPa. All the test results are discussed in terms of deviator stress versus axial strain, mean effective stress versus deviator curves, stress ratio versus axial strain, and excess p. w. p. versus axial strain curves. The samples consolidated at low effective stress first displayed peak positive values of excess p. w. p., followed by increased strains due to sample bulging failure, and only a few samples formed a shear surface failure. The strength parameters were estimated using the maximum deviator stress as the failure criterion i.e. the overall value of the cohesion is 20 kPa and the friction angle is 34°. Hence, the critical state line has been constructed and the critical state parameters have been calculated. The critical state stress ratio M was calculated to be 0.036. The shear strength of soil is one of the significant mechanical properties that are thoroughly used to assess the landslide and liquefaction potentiality of the soil.

Climate Variability & Establishment of Rainfall Threshold Line for Landslide Hazards in Rangamati, Bangladesh

This study aims to evaluate the impact of extreme rainfall events on landslides under current and past climate scenarios. Rainfall-triggered landslides are analyzed by rainfall estimates, derived using statistics of events. It is established that recent climate changes, mainly temperature and rainfall patterns have significantly increased the rainfall-induced landslide hazards in the Rangamati district, Bangladesh. It is also observed that the temperature and rainfall of Rangamati had increased gradually during the last 40 years (1981-2021). On 13 June 2017, a series of landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains (300 mm/24 h) occurred and killed more than 112 people in the Rangamati hill district, Bangladesh. The highest annual decade rainfall is 3816 mm, recorded in 2010-21. A relationship between causalities and the number of events has also been established. The analysis shows that both antecedent and single-day major rainfall patterns can influence sliding events. It is established that monsoonal rainfall (June-September) can significantly influence catastrophic landslide hazard events. Finally, two rainfall threshold lines for the researched area are constructed based on antecedent and single-day major rainfall occurrences, as well as the number of fatalities caused by landslides. Total rainfall of 100 mm (16.66 mm/day) during six days appears to define the minimum rainfall that has led to shallow landslides/slope failures, while 210 mm (35 mm/day) within six days appears to define the lowest rainfall that could be a cause of catastrophic landslide in Rangamati district.

Synthesis, spectral characterization and biological activities of Organotin(IV) complexes with <i>ortho</i>-vanillin-2-hydrazinopyridine (VHP)

Five new organotin(IV) complexes of ortho-vanillin-2-hydrazinopyridine hydrazone with formula [RnSnCl4–n(VHP)] [R = Me2, n = 2 (2);R = Ph2, n = 2 (3);R= nBu2, n = 2 (4);R = nBu, n = 2 (5) and R = 1, n = 0 (6)] have been synthesized by direct reaction of ortho-vanillin-2-hydrazinopyridine hydrazone [(VHP), (1)], base and organotin(IV) chloride(s) in absolute methanol. The hydrazone ligand [(VHP), (1)] and its organotin(IV) complexes (2-6) have been characterized by UV-Visible, FT-IR and 1H NMR spectral studies. Spectroscopic data suggested that in the complexes (2-4), the ligand (1) acted as a neutral bidentate ligand and is coordinated to the tin(IV) atom via the azomethine nitrogen and pyridyl nitrogen atoms, whereas the ligand (1) acted as a uninegative tridentate ligand and coordinated to the tin(IV) atom through phenolic-O, azomethine-N and pyridyl-N atoms in complexes (5-6). The toxicity of the ligand (1) and its organotin (IV) complexes (2-6) were determined against Artemia salina. Organotin(IV) complexes showed moderate activity against Artemia salina. The ligand (1) and its organotin(IV) complexes (2-6) were also tested against four types of bacteria namely Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Enterobacter aerogenes. All organotin(IV) complexes and the free ligand (1) showed better antibacterial activities against bacteria. Among the organotin(IV) complexes (2-6), diphenyltin(IV) complex (3) showed higher activity against the four types of bacteria.

Performance Evaluation of Multiple Classifiers for Predicting Fake News

The rise of fake news on social media has had a detrimental effect on society. Numerous performance evaluations on classifiers that can detect fake news have previously been undertaken by researchers in this area. To assess their performance, we used 14 different classifiers in this study. Secondly, we looked at how soft voting and hard voting classifiers performed in a mixture of distinct individual classifiers. Finally, heuristics are used to create 9 models of stacking classifiers. The F1 score, prediction, recall, and accuracy have all been used to assess performance. Models 6 and 7 achieved the best accuracy of 96.13 while having a larger computational complexity. For benchmarking purposes, other individual classifiers are also tested.

Nutritional Composition and Bioactive Compounds of Bael (Aegle marmelos) and Development of Functional Food Products

Aegle marmelos, widely known as bael, belongs to the Rutaceae family. It is one of the most inexpensive and appealing fruits, considered to be an essential source of natural antioxidants and bioactive components. The major purpose of the research study was to investigate the nutritional composition and bioactive constituents of bael pulp, as well as to develop new value-added products that maintain the maximum quantity of nutrients. The developed food products were subjected to evaluate sensory attributes according to a nine-point hedonic scale. It was found that the moisture, protein, fat, crude fiber, and total ash content of bael fruit pulp were 61.20%, 2.48%, 0.47%, 3.04%, and 1.29%, respectively. When compared to the catechin standard, the antioxidant activity of such extract indicated good antioxidant capacity, with an IC50 value of 75.68 μg/ml for methanol extract. Vitamin C content was about 10.21 mg/100g. Besides, total flavonoid and phenolic contents were found as 140 mg of Quercetin Equivalent (QE)/g and 106.65 mg of Gallic Acid Equivalent (GAE)/g, respectively. Results of sensory attributes revealed that there was a significant difference (P ba and bael bar. The overall acceptability of bael murabba (6.7) and bael bar (7.1) is acceptable in quality, but their specific characteristics were found slightly different by the test panelists. These products might be applicable for the treatment of several diseases like atherosclerosis, diabetes, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, peptic ulcer, tumor, and osteoporosis.

Correlation of Hamstring Tendon Size in Pre-Operative MRI Measurement with Intra-Operative Graft Size in Primary Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction

Background: The size of Hamstring autograft of less than 8.0 mm in ACL re-construction is one of the key factors that may contribute to the failure of the graft. In this study, we are going to assess the correlation of pre-operative MRI measurement of Hamstring tendons with the intra-operative ACL graft. Thus, it may help surgeons to anticipate the needs for graft augmentation should the final graft size be smaller than expected. Methods: We retrospectively re-viewed 41 cases of ACL reconstructions in which MRI were done pre-operatively, in Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah (HPSF), Muar between January 2019 until December 2022. MRI measurements of Hamstring tendon (semitendinosus: ST, and gracilis) were done by a radiologist, and the in-tra-operative notes were reviewed for the final graft size. Pearson’s correlation coefficients were calculated to determine the relationship between graft size and tendon cross-sectional area. The intraclass correlation (ICC) by using two-way mixed model with type consistency, the reliability based on average measure was 0.41 (95% CI: ?0.10, 0.69). A p-value < 0.05 was considered sig-nificant. Results: Of 105 patients with primary ACL reconstruction done be-tween January 2019 to December 2022, only 41 patients were included in this study. There was fair correlation (p = 0.048) between pre-operative MRI measurement and the graft diameter intra-operatively. The mean of 17.0 mm of combined diameter of ST and gracilis tendon in MRI may results in graft diameter of 8.3 mm. There was also positive correlation between patients’ height and the intra-operative graft size. Conclusion: These results showed good correlation between pre-operative MRI measurement of Hamstring ten-don size with the intra-operative graft size, hence it is a reliable tool to predict the Hamstring autograft size in ACL reconstruction.

Effect of Alkali Concentration on Dyeing Cotton Knitted Fabrics with Reactive Dyes

The effect of alkali concentrations has been studied on the color strength （K/S） and color fastness properties of single jersey cotton knitted fabrics dyed with 1% Novacron Red S-B reactive dye. Same bath scouring and bleaching are performed and conventional exhaust dyeing method employed by IR laboratory sample dyeing machine. Various alkali concentrations such as 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 g/L are employed and other parameters are kept fixed. The color strength （K/S） and color fastness to wash and rubbing are examined and evaluated. It is revealed that with the increase in alkali concentration from 6 g/L to 8 g/L the value of K/S increases and then up to 10 g/L the value decreases. The overall color fastness properties to washing and rubbing for the dyed samples range from good to excellent.

Development of Quality Parameters for Yogurt with Strawberry Juice

In this research, we improve the quality parameter of prepared yogurt using different levels (5%, 10%, and 15%) of strawberry juice. We investigated different organoleptic, chemical and microbiological quality characteristics. We found that plain yogurt is clearly better than 15% strawberry juice yogurt while 5% strawberry juice yogurt is almost as like as the plain yogurt. Acceptance of 10% strawberry juice yogurt is between 5% and 15%. We note that the organoleptic characteristics decrease with the addition of strawberry juice level. Analyzed chemical composition showed that strawberry juice incorporation increases the moisture content and acidity from 0% to 15% as strawberry juice contains higher moisture content (90.329%) and acidity (1%) than collected milk which contains 87.15% moisture content and 0.19% acidity. On the other hand, ash and fat content decreases as strawberry juice contains low ash (0.311%) and fat (1.64%) content than collected milk which contains 0.74% ash and 4.36% fat. Thus, nutritional quality decreases with the addition of strawberry juice. After performing the microbiological tests, it was recommended to consume the samples before the 5th day. We also found that various types of microbial (TPC, TCC, TFC) counts decline due to the high acidity of strawberry juice.
