Background Wilms tumor (WT) is the most common childhood kidney cancer worldwide, yet its incidence and clinical behavior vary according to race and access to adequate healthcare resources. To guide and streamline therapy in the war-torn and resource-constrained city of Baghdad, Iraq, we conducted a first-ever molecular analysis of 20 WT specimens to characterize the biological features of this lethal disease within this challenged population. Methods Next-generation sequencing of ten target genes associated with WT development and treatment resistance (WT1, CTNNB1, WTX, IGf2, CITED1, SIX2, p53, N-MYC, CRABP2, and TOP2A) was completed. Immunohistochemistry was performed for 6 marker proteins of WT (WT1, CTNNB1, NCAM, CITED1, SIX2, and p53). Patient outcomes were compiled. Results Mutations were detected in previously described WT 'hot spots' (e.g., WT1 and CTNNB1) as well as novel loci that may be unique to the Iraqi population. Immunohistochemistry showed expression domains most typical of blastemal-predominant WT. Remarkably, despite the challenges facing families and care providers, only one child, with combined WT1 and CTNNB1 mutations, was confirmed dead from disease. Median clinical follow-up was 40.5 months (range 6–78 months). Conclusions These data suggest that WT biology within a population of Iraqi children manifests features both similar to and unique from disease variants in other regions of the world. These observations will help to risk stratify WT patients living in this difficult environment to more or less intensive therapies and to focus treatment on cell-specific targets.

Tuning the optoelectronic properties for small organic compounds as organic solar cell applications

Recently,organic solar cells have attracted the attention of many researchers owing to flexibility,low cost,light weight and large-area applications,and significant improvement in the power conversion efficiency(PCE).In this work,we designed chains from organic compounds as donors and replaced the core unit in each series with a variety of acceptors in order to enhance their optical and electronic characterization and performance for power conversion efficiencies in organic solar *** utilized density functional theory(DfT)and time-dependent density functional theory(TD-DfT)to investigate the geometry optimization by using the Gaussian 09 *** electronic and optical properties were determined,which involve the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO)and the highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO)levels,the band gap energy,maximum absorption wavelength(λ_(max)),open circuit voltage(V_(oc)),and light harvesting efficiency(LHE).Our evaluation denotes that the small compounds suggested are predicted to exhibit the best performance compared to the first series(SC1),like a lower band gap energy,a lower HOMO energy level,a greater absorption range,and a larger PCE.

Constructing a small organic molecule by using the derivative of oxadiazole for photovoltaic applications

Because of their elasticity， light weight， little cost， and wide-area applications， besides that a notable increase in power conversion efficiency （PCE）， organic solar cells have recently caught the concern of numerous researchers. In the current project， we created a variety of organic small compounds as donor materials by using Gaussian 09. Our design approach entails swapping the core part， which is benzothiadiazole （BT）， based on a derivative of oxadiazole， as the terminals on both sides of the prototype compound （RM） with a variety of fragments to improve the electronic and optic characterization and performance for PCE in organic solar cells. Careful theoretical consideration under density-functional theory DfT and time-dependent density functional theory TD-DET at the B3LYP/6-31G（d，p） basis set was made to find the maximum absorption wavelengthλmax， the efficiency of light harvesting （LHE）， excitation energy (EX)， HOMO and LOMO levels， energy band gap (Eg)， dipole moment （ρ）， the DOS， ionization potential （LP）， electron affinity （EA）， fill factor （Ef）， and open circuit voltage (Voc) of molecules RM and TSstudied in a methodical manner. Calculated values revealed that proposed compounds T1-T4 can be encouraging materials for manufacturing organic solar cells as a donor tiny compound with acceptor PC61BM to predict a rise in power conversion efficiency （PCE） owing to their possession of proper values for some optical and electronic features， like the lowest HOMO level， narrower band gaps， and a greater absorption wavelength compared with the reference model RM.

Glaucoma,an irreversible optic neuropathy,primarily affects retinal ganglion cells(RGC)and causes vision loss and *** damage to RGCs in glaucoma occurs by various mechanisms,including elevated intraocular pressure,oxidative stress,inflammation,and other neurodegenerative *** the disease progresses,the loss of RGCs leads to vision ***,protecting RGCs from damage and promoting their survival are important goals in managing *** this regard,resveratrol(RES),a polyphenolic phytoalexin,exerts antioxidant effects and slows down the evolution and progression of *** present review shows that RES plays a protective role in RGCs in cases of ischemic injury and hypoxia as well as in ErbB2 protein expression in the ***,RES plays protective roles in RGCs by promoting cell growth,reducing apoptosis,and decreasing oxidative stress in H_(2)O_(2)-exposed *** was also found to inhibit oxidative stress damage in RGCs and suppress the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling *** could alleviate retinal function impairment by suppressing the hypoxia-i nducible factor-1 alpha/vascular endothelial growth factor and p38/p53 axes while stimulating the PI3K/Akt ***,RES might exert potential therapeutic effects for managing glaucoma by protecting RGCs from damage and promoting their survival.

The Spectrum of Nail Disorders in Patients With End-Stage Renal Disease Undergoing Conservative Treatment: A Case-Control Study

Objective:Various nail disorders have been reported in patients with chronic kidney ***,few studies have investigated nail disorders in patients with advanced chronic kidney *** study focused on nail disorders seen in patients with end-stage renal disease(ESRD)undergoing conservative ***:A case-control study was conducted at Baraha Medical City in Khartoum State,*** on patients with ESRD who were on conservative treatment and presented for follow-up between March and September 2021 were ***’demographic features,nail findings on clinical examination,and laboratory results were *** obtained data were compared with those on age-and sex-matched healthy individuals from the general *** chi-square test and Student t test were performed to analyze categorical and numerical variables,***:Data on 78 patients with ESRD were *** mean age was 54.6±17.6 years,and 45(57.7%)were *** patients were compared with 129 *** disorders were seen in 65(83.3%)ESRD patients and 86(66.6%)controls(P=0.009).Patients with ESRD were found to be at increased relative risk of developing a wide spectrum of nail *** absent lunula,half-and-half nails,nail dystrophy,Terry’s nails,onychomycosis,and koilonychia were the most common disorders and were seen in 44(56.4%),13(16.7%),10(12.8%),9(11.5%),6(7.7%),and 5(6.4%)patients,*** with ESRD had a statistically significant risk of developing above diseases(all Pf nail disorders in patients with ESRD undergoing conservative *** studies are essential to understand their pathogenesis.

RoGRUT: A Hybrid Deep Learning Model for Detecting Power Trapping in Smart Grids

Electricity theft is a widespread non-technical issue that has a negative impact on both power grids and electricity *** hinders the economic growth of utility companies,poses electrical risks,and impacts the high energy costs borne by *** development of smart grids is crucial for the identification of power theft since these systems create enormous amounts of data,including information on client consumption,which may be used to identify electricity theft using machine learning and deep learning ***,there also exist different solutions such as hardware-based solutions to detect electricity theft that may require human resources and expensive ***-based solutions are presented in the literature to identify electricity theft but due to the dimensionality curse,class imbalance issue and improper hyper-parameter tuning of such models lead to poor *** this research,a hybrid deep learning model abbreviated as RoGRUT is proposed to detect electricity theft as amalicious and non-malicious *** key steps of the RoGRUT are data preprocessing that covers the problem of class imbalance,feature extraction and final theft *** advanced-level models like RoBERTa is used to address the curse of dimensionality issue,the near miss for class imbalance,and transfer learning for *** effectiveness of the RoGRUTis evaluated using the dataset fromactual smartmeters.A significant number of simulations demonstrate that,when compared to its competitors,the RoGRUT achieves the best classification *** performance evaluation of the proposed model revealed exemplary results across *** accuracy achieved was 88%,with precision at an impressive 86%and recall reaching 84%.The f1-Score,a measure of overall performance,stood at 85%.furthermore,themodel exhibited a noteworthyMatthew correlation coefficient of 78%and excelled with an area under the curve of 91%.

Developing a Model for Parkinson’s Disease Detection Using Machine Learning algorithms

Parkinson’s disease(PD)is a chronic neurological condition that progresses over *** start to have trouble speaking,writing,walking,or performing other basic skills as dopamine-generating neurons in some brain regions are injured or *** patient’s symptoms become more severe due to the worsening of their signs over *** this study,we applied state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms to diagnose Parkinson’s disease and identify related risk *** research worked on the publicly available dataset on PD,and the dataset consists of a set of significant characteristics of *** aim to apply soft computing techniques and provide an effective solution for medical professionals to diagnose PD *** research methodology involves developing a model using a machine learning *** the model selection,eight different machine learning techniques were adopted:Namely,Random forest(Rf),Decision Tree(DT),Support Vector Machine(SVM),Naïve Bayes(NB),Light Gradient Boosting Machine(LightGBM),K-Nearest Neighbours(KNN),Extreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost),and Logistic Regression(LR).Subsequently,the concentrated models were validated through 10-fold Cross-Validation and Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)—Area Under the Curve(AUC).In addition,GridSearchCV was utilised to measure each algorithm’s best parameter;eventually,the models were trained through the hyperparameter tuning *** 98%accuracy,LightGBM had the highest accuracy in this ***,KNN,and SVM came in second with 96%***,the performance scores of NB and LR were recorded to be 76%and 83%,*** is to be mentioned that after applying 10-fold cross-validation,the average performance score of LightGBM accounted for 93%.At the same time,the percentage of ROC-AUC appeared at 0.92,which indicates that this LightGBM model reached a satisfactory ***,we extracted meaningful insights and figured out potential gaps on top of *** extracting meaningful in

The optimal semi-analytical modeling for the infinite-conductivity horizontal well performance under rectangular bounded reservoir based on a new instantaneous source function

The main objective of this study is to develop the optimal semi-analytical modeling for the infiniteconductivity horizontal well performance under rectangular bounded reservoir based on a new instantaneous source *** available semi-analytical infinite-conductivity models(ICMs)for horizontal well under rectangular bounded reservoir in literature were developed by applying superposition of pressures in space(SPS).A new instantaneous source function(i.e.,instantaneous uniform-flux segmentary source function under bounded reservoir)is derived to be used instead of SPS to develop the optimal semi-analytical *** new semi-analytical ICM is verified with ICM of Schlumberger[1]and with previous semi-analytical ICMs in terms of bottom hole pressure(BHP)profile and inflow rate distribution along the *** model is also validated with real horizontal wells in terms of inflow rate distribution along the *** results show that the developed model gives the optimal semi-analytical modeling for the infinite-conductivity horizontal well performance under rectangular bounded *** that,high computationalefficiency and high-resolution of wellbore discretization have been achieved(i.e.,wellbore segment number could be tens of hundreds depending on solution requirement).The results also show that at pseudosteady state(PSS)flow regime,inflow rate distribution along the wellbore by previous semi-analytical ICMs is stabilized U-shaped as performance of inflow rate distribution at late radial flow ***,the previous semi-analytical ICMs are incorrectly modeling inflow rate distribution at PSS flow regime due to the negative influence of applying *** optimal semi-analytical ICM is in a general form and real time domain,and can be applicable for 3D horizontal well and 2D vertical fracture well under infinite and rectangular bounded reservoirs,of uniform-flux and infinite-conductivity wellbore conditions at any time of well life.
