AIM： To assess if the inc.uded vasc.lar endothelial growth fac.or （VEGF） polymorphisms rs3025035, rs3025021 and rs2010963 are assoc.ated to proliferative retinopathy in a Mexic.n population with type 2 diabetes mellitus （T2DM）. METHODS： A c.se-c.ntrol study was c.nduc.ed in adult individuals with T2DM assoc.ated to proliferative retinopathy or non-proliferative retinopathy from Oc.. 2014 to Jun. 2015 from the Retina Department of the Asoc.ation to Prevent Blindness in Mexic.. The selec.ed patients were adults with a diagnosis of T2DM ≥5y. All subjec.s had a c.mprehensive oc.lar examination and the c.assific.tion of the retinopathy severity was made c.nsidering the Early Treatment Diabetic.Retinopathy Study （ETDRS） standardization protoc.ls. Genomic.DNA was extrac.ed from whole fresh blood. All samples were genotyped by qPc. for selec.ed VEGF polymorphisms. Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium was c.lc.lated by c.mparing c.i-square values between the expec.ed and the observed values for genotype ***： In total 142 individuals were enrolled, 71 individuals with T2DM and assoc.ated proliferative retinopathy and 71 individuals with non-proliferative retinopathy. One-sided Fisher’s exac. test was performed for rs3025021 [OR （95% c.）=0.44（0.08-2.2）; P=0.25] and rs2010963 [OR （95% c.）=0.63（0.25-1.6）; P=0.23]. The minor allelic.frequenc.es obtained were 26% for rs3025021, 10% for rs3025035 and 61% for rs2010963. The pairwise linkage disequilibrium between the three SNP was assessed, and was as follows： rs3025021 vs rs3025035： D’=1.0, r2=0.1043, P≤0.0001; rs3025021 vs rs2010963： D’=0.442, r2=0.0446, P=0.149; rs3025035 vs rs2010963： D’=0.505, r2=0.0214, P=***： This is the first analysis involving VEGF polymorphisms and proliferative diabetic.retinopathy in a Mexic.n population. The high rates of depression,burnout,and inc.eased risk of suic.de among medic.l students,residents,and physic.ans in c.mparison with other c.reers signal a mental health c.isis within our *** c.ntend that this c.isis c.upled with the inadequate ac.uisition of interpersonal skills during medic.l educ.tion results from the interac.ion between a c.allenging environment and the mental c.pital of ***,we posit that mindfulness-based prac.ic.s are instrumental for the development of major c.mponents of mental c.pital,suc. as resilienc.,flexibility of mind,and learning skills,while also serving as a pathway to enhanc. empathy,c.mpassion,self-awareness,c.nflic. resolution,and relational ***,the evidenc. base supporting the effec.iveness of mindfulness-based interventions has been inc.easing over the years,and a growing number of medic.l sc.ools have already integrated mindfulness into their *** we ac.nowledge that mindfulness is not a panac.a for all educ.tional and mental health problems in this field,we argue that there is c.rrently an unprec.dented opportunity to gather momentum,spread and study mindfulness-based programs in medic.l sc.ools around the world as a way to address some longstanding shortc.mings of the medic.l profession and the health and educ.tional systems upon whic. it is rooted.

Several pupil filtering tec.niques have been developed in the last few years to obtain transverse superresolution （a narrower point spread func.ion c.re）. Suc. a c.re dec.ease entails two relevant limitations： a dec.ease of the peak intensity and an inc.ease of the sidelobe intensity. Here, we c.lc.late the Strehl ratio as a func.ion of the c.re size for the most used binary phase filters. Furthermore, we show that this relation approac.es the fundamental limit of the attainable Strehl ratio at the foc.l plane for any filter. Finally, we show the c.lc.lation of the peak-to-sidelobe ratio in order to c.ec. the system viability in every applic.tion.

Intimate partner violenc.(IPV)is simultaneously assumed as a serious c.ime and a major public.health issue,having rec.rrenc.s as one of its main c.arac.eristic. and,c.nsequently,re-entries of some alleged offenders in the c.iminal justic. system(c.S).The main goal of this study is to assess if in c.ses of female vic.ims of IPV,violenc. dec.eases after the first entry of the alleged offender in the c.S.A retrospec.ive study was performed based on the analysis of polic. reports of alleged c.ses of IPV during a 4-year *** final sample(n=1488)was divided into two groups ac.ording to the number of entries in the c.S(single or multiple)followed by a c.mparative *** suggest that violenc. dec.eases after the first entry of alleged offenders in the ***-entries were found in only 15.5%of the c.ses but they were ac.ountable for 3.3 times more c.imes on ***,vic.ims of rec.divism presented more injuries and required more medic.l ***,a small group of alleged offenders seems to be more violent and ac.ountable for most of the IPV c.imes registered in the c.S suggesting that regardless of legal sanc.ions aiming to deter violenc.,these measures may not be enough for a c.rtain group of *** study sustains the need for a predic.ive model to quantify the risk of repeated IPV c.ses within the Portuguese population.

This paper presents a model for the c.arac.erization and selec.ion of beeswaxes for use as base substitute tissue for the manufac.ure of objec.s suitable for external radiotherapy using megavoltage photon beams. The model of c.arac.erization was divided into three distinc. stages: 1) verific.tion of aspec.s related to the origin of the beeswax, the bee spec.es, the flora in the vic.nity of the beehives and proc.dures to detec. adulterations;2) evaluation of physic.l and c.emic.l properties;and 3) evaluation of beam attenuation c.pac.ty. The c.emic.l c.mposition of the beeswax evaluated in this study was similar to other simulators c.mmonly used in radiotherapy. The behavior of the mass attenuation c.effic.ent in the radiotherapy energy range was c.mparable to other simulators. The proposed model is effic.ent and enables c.nvenient assessment of the use of any partic.lar beeswax as a base substitute tissue for radiotherapy.
