The stability and produc.ivity c.nc.rning a modific.tion on the traditional room and pillar for a new selec.ive tec.nique at the Portuguese Panasqueira Mine have been *** traditional room-and-pillar stoping uses 5.0-m wide rooms with 3.0 m×3.0 m pillars,while the selec.ive room-and-pillar mining tec.nique c.nsists in stoping with rooms of 4.0 m wide and pillars of 4 m×4 m with a subsequent selec.ive c.tting of the quartz veins at the mid pillar of approximately 0.5 m high,to obtain a pillar sec.ion with an area of 3.0 m×3.0 *** stability and produc.ivity analyses indic.te that the selec.ive tec.nique obtains smaller average pillar safety fac.or,more roc. mass displac.ment,more extrac.ion and selec.ivity ratios,and ore grade improvement,c.mpared with the traditional *** results show that the selec.ive tec.nique is also more *** proposed selec.ive room-and-pillar mining tec.nique is applic.ble to any sub-horizontal narrow quartz veins with wolfram,gold,*** as the famous La Rinc.nada gold mine in the Peruvian Andes.

We introduc. a tec.nique for inc.easing density in optic.l data storage systems. This tec.nique is based on the use of a superresolving filter at the pupil of a c.nfoc.l readout system. The main c.arac.eristic.of this c.nfoc.l readout system is that the light beam traverses twic. through the pupil filter. We desc.ibe how to analyze the system performanc. for general filters, but we foc.s the study on filters with no foc.s displac.ment. Although the storage density attainable depends on the filter c.arac.eristic., we show that the storage density c.n be easily duplic.ted.

Sustainable urban drainage systems are built along roads and in urban areas to c.llec. urban runoff and avoid flooding, and to filter water pollutants. Sediment c.llec.ed by runoff is deposited in the stormwater basin and progressively reduc.s water infiltration effic.enc., leading to the c.ogging of the basin. To help stormwater basin managers and stakeholders better understand and predic. c.ogging rates in order to elaborate maintenanc. plans and sc.edules, water transport predic.ion models are nec.ssary. However,bec.use of the heterogeneous sediment hydrodynamic.properties inside the stormwater basin, a twodimensional(2-D) water flow model is required to predic. water levels and possible overflow as ac.urately as possible. Saturated hydraulic.c.nduc.ivity(Ks) and sediment water retention c.rves were measured in the overall sediment layer of the stormwater basin, in addition to sediment layer thic.ness and organic.matter c.ntent(11 sampling points). Sediment depth was used to predic. organic.matter(OM) c.ntent, and the OM was used to predic. Ks. Water height in the basin was modeled with the HYDRUS-2 D model by taking into ac.ount the sediment hydrodynamic.properties distribution. The HYDRUS-2 D model gave a satisfac.ory representation of the measured data. Sc.narios of the hydraulic.properties of stormwater basin sediment were tested over time, and hydraulic.resistanc., R, was c.lc.lated to assess the stormwater basin performanc.. Presently, after 20 years of func.ioning, the stormwater basin still ensures effic.ent water infiltration, but the first outflow(Hydraulic.resistanc.,R > 24 h)) is expec.ed to appear in the next 5 years, and c.ogging(R > 47 h) in the next 13 years. This 2-D water balanc. model makes it possible to integrate the hydrodynamic.heterogeneity of a stormwater basin. It gives interesting perspec.ives to better predic. 2-D/3-D c.ntaminant transport.

We report a c.se of ac.te severe hepatitis resulting from masitinib in a young amyotrophic.lateral sc.erosis patient. Hepatotoxic.ty induc.d by masitinib,a tyrosine kinase inhibitor,is usually transient with mild elevation of transaminases,although ac.te hepatitis has been not reported to date. The hepatitis was resolved after masitinib was disc.ntinued and a c.mbination of prednisone and azathioprine was started. The transaminases returned to baseline normal values five months later. This is the first c.se in the hepatitis literature assoc.ated with masitinib. The autoimmune role of this drug-induc.d liver injury is disc.ssed. Physic.ans should be aware of this potential c.mplic.tion.

The GSSP marking the base of the c.mbrian System was ratified by the lUGS in 1992. Ratific.tion of the GSSP point at the base of the Tric.ophyc.s pedum Ic.nozone in the Fortune Head sec.ion, eastern Newfoundland, c.nada, automatic.lly defined the c.nterminant base of the lowermost series and stage of the c.mbrian although names for those subdivisions were not proposed at the time of the dec.sion. In 2007, the lUGS ratified the names Terreneuvian Series and Fortunian Stage for these previously unnamed c.ronostratigraphic.subdivisions. The Terreneuvian Series replac.s the provisional name ＂Series 1,＂ and the Fortunian Stage replac.s the provisional name ＂Stage 1,＂ of the c.mbrian System.

BAc.GROUND Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma(Hc.)is the most important primary malignant liver disease.A large proportion of patients with advanc.d Hc. have mac.ovasc.lar *** tends to infiltrate vasc.lar struc.ures,partic.larly the portal vein and its branc.es,and more rarely,the hepatic.*** intravasc.lar tumor thrombus c.n affec. the inferior vena c.va(IVc.or even the right atrium(RA),the latter having a poor *** SUMMARY Hc. is one of the most aggressive malignant *** thrombus(TT)formation in advanc.d Hc. stages is c.mmon and usually involves the hepatic.or portal ***,we report a 69-year-old woman who presented with dyspnea to the emergenc. department.A ventilation/perfusion lung sc.n was performed,ruling out pulmonary *** syndrome and portopulmonary hypertension were disc.rded with c.ntrasted ec.oc.rdiography,but a mass in the RA was detec.ed and c.nfirmed by c.rdiac.magnetic.resonanc. *** c.mputed tomography showed a liver mass with a dynamic.enhanc.ment pattern c.mpatible with Hc. and an intraluminal IVc.mass extending from the hepatic.vein into the *** with TT expansion to IVc.and RA is rare and indic.tes poor *** Hc. with TT expansion to IVc.and RA is rare and indic.tes poor *** is no c.nsensus about antic.agulation or other interventions in these patients.
