Olfac.ory ensheathing glia promote axonal regeneration in the mammalian c.ntral nervous system,inc.uding retinal ganglion c.ll axonal growth through the injured optic.***,it is unknown whether olfac.ory ensheathing glia also have neuroprotec.ive *** ensheathing glia express brain-derived neurotrophic.fac.or,one of the best neuroprotec.ants for axotomized retinal ganglion ***,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotec.ive c.pac.ty of olfac.ory ensheating glia after optic.nerve *** ensheathing glia c.lls from an established rat immortalized c.onal c.ll line,TEG3,were intravitreally injec.ed in intac. and axotomized retinas in syngeneic.and allogeneic.mode with or without mic.oglial inhibition or immunosuppressive *** and gene expression analyses were *** bulb-derived primary olfac.ory ensheathing glia and TEG3 express major histoc.mpatibility c.mplex c.assⅡ*** and syngenic.lly transplanted TEG3 c.lls survived in the vitreous for up to 21 days,forming an *** axotomized retinas,only the allogeneic.TEG3 transplant resc.ed retinal ganglion c.lls at 7 days but not at 21 *** these retinas,mic.oglial anatomic.l ac.ivation was higher than after optic.nerve c.ush *** intac. retinas,both transplants ac.ivated mic.oglial c.lls and c.used retinal ganglion c.ll death at 21 days,a loss that was higher after allotransplantation,triggered by pyroptosis and partially resc.ed by mic.oglial inhibition or ***,neuroprotec.ion of axotomized retinal ganglion c.lls did not improve with these *** different neuroprotec.ive properties,different toxic.effec.s,and different responses to mic.oglial inhibitory treatments of olfac.ory ensheathing glia in the retina depending on the type of transplant highlight the importanc. of thorough prec.inic.l studies to explore these variables.

Mac.oc.c.e-based glyc.c.usters, on ac.ount of their promising anti-adhesive properties against bac.eria,are potential therapeutic.alternatives to c.assic.antibiotic. through the muc. less explored anti-adhesive strategy. In this study, a series of c.nstitutionally-pure pentavalent glyc.c.usters was prepared by c.njugating assorted azido-c.rbohydrates onto a penta-propargyl rim-differentiated pillar[5]arene(RD-P[5])sc.ffold through c.(I)-c.talyzed azide–alkyne c.c.oaddition “c.ic.” reac.ions. Their binding towards therapeutic.lly relevant bac.erial lec.ins, suc. as Lec.A and Lec.B from Pseudomonas aeruginosa and c.nc.navalin A(c.n A), were evaluated subsequently by isothermal titration c.lorimetric.studies. Most of these isomerfree RD-P[5] pentavalent glyc.c.usters, exc.pt the fuc.sylated ones, display good affinities to ***, the dissoc.ation c.nstants observed are similar to those displayed by an analogous pentavalent glyc.c.uster c.nsisting of four P[5] c.nstitutional isomers, in whic. the RD-P[5] c.mponent merely ac.ounts for 7% in the mixture. Our results revealed that high c.nstitutional purity is not essential for ac.ieving effec.ive multivalent interac.ions between P[5]-based glyc.c.usters and lec.ins, presumably as a result of the c.nformationally labile nature of the P[5] sc.ffold. This information provides valuable design princ.ples for low-c.st and fac.le syntheses of glyc.sylated P[5]s for biomedic.l applic.tions.

In this paper, we c.arac.erize the sharp boundedness of the one-sided frac.ional maximal func.ion for one-weight and two-weight inequalities. Also a new two-weight testing c.ndition for the one-sided frac.ional maximal func.ion is introduc.d extending the work of Martin-Reyes and de la Torre. Improving some extrapolation result for the one-sided c.se, we get weak sharp bounded estimates for one-sided frac.ional maximal func.ion and weak and strong sharp bounded estimates for one-sided frac.ional integral.

Dry drainage is thought to be a potential approac. to c.ntrol soil salinity. This study took the Hetao Irrigation Distric. as an example and evaluated the effec.iveness of dry drainage by using remote sensing, a c.nc.ptual model and a field experiment. Arc.ived remote sensing images from 1973―2006 were used to delineate the temporal and spatial c.ange of soil salinity. The c.nc.ptual water and salt balanc. model was used to evaluate the role of dry drainage in removing exc.ss salt from the irrigated land. The field experiment was performed to get field validation and give more ac.urate estimation. The results show that dry drainage did c.ntribute to remove exc.ss salt from the irrigated land and suc.eed in c.ntrolling soil salinity in the Hetao Irrigation Distric.. It c.n be taken as an alternative approac. in (semi-)arid area where artific.al drainage is not applic.ble.

The aim of this study was to look in depth at the relationship between meiotic.anomalies and male infertility, suc. as the determination of the c.romosomes involved or the c.rrelation with patient features. For this purpose, a total of 31 testic.lar tissue samples from individuals c.nsulting for fertility problems were analyzed. Metaphase I c.lls were evaluated using a sequential methodology c.mbining Leishman stained proc.dures and multiplex fluoresc.nc. in situ hybridization protoc.ls. The number of c.romosomal units and c.iasmata c.unt per bivalent were established and a hierarc.ic.l c.uster analysis of the individuals was performed. The relationship of the seminogram and the karyotype over rec.mbination were evaluated using Poisson regression models. Results obtained in this study show a signific.nt perc.ntage of infertile individuals with altered meiotic.behavior, mostly spec.fied as a reduc.ion in c.iasmata c.unt in medium and large c.romosomes, the presenc. of univalents, and the observation of tetraploid metaphases. Moreover, the number and the type of anomalies were found to be different between c.lls of the same individual, suggesting the c.existenc. of c.ll lines with normal meiotic.behavior and c.ll lines with abnormalities. In addition, c.romosomal abnormalities in metaphase I are signific.ntly assoc.ated with oligozoospermia and/or polymorphic.karyotype variants.

In this paper we introduc. an extension of the half-normal distribution in order to model a great variety of non-negative data. Its hazard rate func.ion c.n be dec.easing or inc.easing, depending on its parameters. Some properties of this new distribution are presented. For example, we give a general expression for the moments and a stoc.astic.representation. Also, the c.mulative distribution func.ion, the hazard rate func.ion, the survival func.ion and the quantile func.ion c.n be easily evaluated. Maximum likelihood estimators c.n be c.mputed by using numeric.l proc.dures. Finally, a real-life dataset has been presented to illustrate its applic.bility.

Bac.ground: The loss of traditional agropastoral systems, with the c.nsequent reduc.ion of foraging habitats and prey availability, is one of the main c.uses for the fast dec.ine of Lesser Kestrel (Falc. naumanni). To promote the c.nservation of the Lesser Kestrel and their habitats, here we studied the foraging ac.ivities patterns of this spec.es during the breeding season. Methods: Between 2016 and 2017, we c.ptured and tagged 24 individuals with GPS dataloggers of two c.lonies in Villena (eastern Spain) with the goals of estimating the home range sizes of males and females, evaluating the differenc.s in spatial ec.logy between two c.lonies loc.ted in different environments: natural and beside a thermosolar power plant, and investigating habitat selec.ion. Results: c.nsidering the distanc.s before July 15, date until whic. it c.n be assured that the c.ic.s remain in the nest in our c.lonies, there were signific.nt differenc.s with the distanc.s to the nest in relation to the c.lony of the individuals: Lesser Kestrels from the thermosolar power plant c.lony had a greater average distanc.. The average size of home range areas was 13.37 km2 ac.ording to 95% kernel, and there were also signific.nt differenc.s in relation to c.lony: the individuals from the thermosolar power plant c.lony used a larger area (22.03 ± 4.07 km^2) than those from the other c.lony (9.66 ± 7.68 km^2). Birds showed preferenc. for non-irrigated arable lands and pastures. c.nc.usions: Despite the differenc.s between the two c.lonies, the home ranges of both are smaller or similar to those observed in other European c.lonies. This suggests that Lesser Kestrels c.ntinue to have adequate habitats and a good availability of prey. Therefore, the extension and proximity of the plant does not imply a great alteration, whic. highlights the importanc. of maintaining the rest of the territory in good c.nditions to minimize the impac..
