Alzheimer’s disease(AD),the most common dementia,is characterized by potentially neurotoxic aggregation of Aβ peptide and tau protein,and their deposition as amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles(NFTs).Tau aggregation also occurs in other common neurodegenerative *** dementia(FTD)can be caused by tau mutations that increase the susceptibility of tau to hyperphosphorylation and aggregation,which may cause neuronal dysfunction and deposition of NFTs.17-allylamino-17-demethoxygeldanamycin(17-AAG)is a potent inhibitor of heat shock protein 90(Hsp90),a cytosolic chaperone implicated in the proper folding and functions of a repertoire of client proteins.17-AAG binds to Hsp90 and enhances degradation of Hsp90 client *** sought to determine whether 17-AAG can reduce Aβ and tau pathology in the brains of AD and FTD model mice expressing Aβ or P301L mutant tau,*** were randomized to receive 25,5,or 0 mg/kg 17-AAG thrice weekly from age eight to 11 *** was performed by rotarod test on motor function,on the area occupied by plaques in hippocampus or NFTs in medulla tissue sections,and on mortality.A high dose of 17-AAG tended to decrease NFTs in male mice(p=0.08).Further studies are required to confirm the effect of 17-AAG in diseases of tau aggregation.

Electronically Controllable Fully-Uncoupled Explicit Current-Mode Quadrature Oscillator Using VDTAs and Grounded Capacitors

An electronically controllable fully uncoupled explicit current-mode quadrature oscillator employing Voltage Differencing Transconductance Amplifiers (VDTAs) as active elements has been presented. The proposed configuration employs two VDTAs along with grounded capacitors and offers the following advantageous features 1) fully and electronically independent control of condition of oscillation (CO) and frequency of oscillation (FO);2) explicit current-mode quadrature oscillations;and 3) low active and passive sensitivities. The workability of proposed configuration has been demonstrated by PSPICE simulations with TSMC CMOS 0.18 μm process parameters.

Congestion Control in Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Bioluminescent Firefly Behavior

Congestion in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is an issue of concern for several researchers in recent years. The key challenge is to develop an algorithmic rule which may realize the optimased route on the idea of parameters like residual energy, range of retransmissions and the distance between source and destination. The Firefly Algorithmic rule is implemented in this paper that relies on the attractiveness issue of the firefly insect to control congestion in WSN at transport layer. The results additionally show that the projected approach is best as compared to Congestion Detection and Avoidance (CODA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) on network lifetime and throughput of the network.

This paper presents a new current-mode single input multi output (SIMO) type biquad employing one voltage differencing transconductance amplifier (VDTA), two grounded capacitors and a single grounded resistor. The configuration realizes all basic filter functions (i.e. Low Pass (LP), High Pass (HP), Band Pass (BP), Notch (BR) and All Pass (AP)). The natural frequency (ω0) and bandwidth (BW) are independently tunable. The workability of proposed configuration has been verified using SPICE simulation with TSMC CMOS 0.18 μm process parameters.

Chest wall metastasis from unknown primary site of hepatocellular carcinoma

Previous reports of a solitary metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma have been rare. Because this tumor has a different treatment modality and prognosis, an accurate differential diagnosis is essential. Here we report a rare case of a solitary chest wall metastasis from unknown primary site of hepatocellular carcinoma. It involves a 51-year-old man who was admitted to our hospital because of a palpable left upper chest wall mass. The mass was resected and pathologic examination confirmed a diagnosis of metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma. Despite our investigation, no evidence was found that indicated the primary origin of the hepatocellular carcinoma. Four months later, the patient was admitted again because of spinal cord compression at the third and fourth thoracic vertebrae. Emergent decompressive laminectomy was performed and microscopic features revealed the same pathology as the initial chest wall mass resected 4 months earlier. After one year, a follow-up abdominal computed tomography （CT） still revealed no evidence of primary hepatocellular carcinoma.

Prevalence of Ectoparasitic Infestation in Indian Major Carps During Winter at Different Blocks of South 24-Parganas District, West Bengal, India

The study was carried out to find the prevalence of ectoparasites in carp species specifically Indian Major Carps(IMC)during the post monsoon season(November’16 to March’17).Four groups of ectoparasites ***,ciliophoran,monogenean and crustacean were recorded from a total 500 number of carp species like,Labeo rohita,Catla catla,Cirrhinus mrigala and Labeo calbasu collected from different ponds of selected blocks of South 24-Parganas district of West *** highest prevalence(64.8%)of infestation had been recorded by Myxozoans and the lowest was by Monogeneans(4.8%).The highest and lowest ectoparasitic prevalence in carp was observed in ***(32.9%)and ***(27.3%).Beside these,lower temperature(Average 19.3℃),low pH(Average 6.9)and marginal level of dissolved oxygen(Average 6.0ppm)were also created an unfavorable condition for parasitic infestation during this *** the end of this experiment it was concluded that disease occurrences due to ectoparasites was high in winter with some key factors like temperature,pH and dissolved oxygen(DO).

Supplementation of L-ascorbic acid improves the in vitro development of buffalo(Bubalus bubalis)embryos and alters the expression of apoptosis-related genes

Objective:To study the effect of L-ascorbic acid supplementation on the in vitro development of buffalo embryos and evaluate the relative mRNA abundance of some pro-apoptotic,anti-apoptotic,and embryonic development-related ***:In experiment 1,we evaluated the effect of the addition of 0(control),50,and 100μM L-ascorbic acid to the in vitro maturation medium on the developmental competence in terms of blastocyst rate and relative mRNA abundance of some pro-apoptotic(BAX,BID),anti-apoptotic(BCL-XL,MCL1),and embryonic development(GDF9,BMP15)related *** on the results,we chose 50μM as the suitable dose of L-ascorbic acid for the subsequent *** further evaluated the blastocyst rates following the addition of 50μM L-ascorbic acid to the in vitro culture medium(experiment 2),and in vitro maturation and in vitro culture media(experiment 3).In all three experiments,the maturation and culture media devoid of L-ascorbic acid served as the control ***:The blastocyst rate after adding 50μM L-ascorbic acid to the in vitro maturation medium was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05),whereas 100μM L-ascorbic acid exhibited a negative effect on the blastocyst *** blastocyst rates for embryos cultured in 50μM L-ascorbic acid in the in vitro culture medium alone and both in vitro maturation and in vitro culture media were significantly higher than their corresponding control groups(P<0.05).The relative mRNA abundance of BAX significantly decreased in blastocysts produced after the addition of 50μM L-ascorbic acid as compared with the control group(P<0.05),whereas,for MCL1,it significantly decreased in blastocysts produced after the addition of 100μM L-ascorbic acid(P<0.05).Conclusions:The supplementation of 50μM L-ascorbic acid to in vitro maturation and in vitro culture media supports in vitro embryonic development in buffaloes by improving developmental competence and altering the expression of apoptosis-related genes.

CM-Biquad Filter Using Single DO-VDBA

In this manuscript we present a current mode biquad using one dual output-voltage differencing buffered amplifier (DO-VDBA) and four passive components (2 grounded capacitors and 2 resistors). The proposed circuit offers very low active and passive sensitivity. The filter presented here is electronically tunable, frequency of oscillation (FO) can be tuned by controlling transconductance (gm) by varying the bias current (IB) of the circuit. The workability of proposed circuit is tested using PSPICE with 180 nm TSMC CMOS process parameters.

COVID-19 outbreaks in residential care homes in Hong Kong and effectiveness of vaccine against severe outcomes

Background:COVID-19 outbreaks in residential care homes for the elderly(RCHEs)and for persons with disability(RCHDs)have caused significant morbidity and mortality during 5th epidemic in Hong *** article reviewed COVID-19 outbreaks situation and estimated the effectiveness of receiving at least two-dose of COVID-19 vaccine in preventing severe ***:To estimate attack rates and vaccination coverage,documentation on COVID-19 infection and their vaccination records of residential care homes(RCH)residents reported between December 31,2021 and May 31,2022 were reviewed,and infected cases were follow-up for 4 weeks for severe outcomes or *** between vaccination coverage against attack rate by types of homes was *** RCH residents with available information were included in the analysis of vaccine effectiveness against severe outcomes and ***:COVID-19 vaccination coverage was low in RCHDs(median 0.46,IQR:0.24-0.76)and very low in RCHEs(median 0.08,IQR:0.00-0.19).Higher attack rates were recorded among RCHE residents(median 0.84,IQR:0.64-0.93)and higher case fatality rate(CFR:28.1%)than in RCHDs(median 0.58,IQR:0.31-0.84;CFR:3.9%).The attack rate decreased when vaccination coverage increased for both RCHEs(ρ=−0.131,p<0.001)and RCHDs(ρ=−0.333,p<0.001).Comparing with infected residents who were unvaccinated/vaccinated with one-dose,receiving at least two-dose was estimated to be effective in reducing severe outcomes in 31%and 36%of infected RCHE and RCHD residents respectively;with greater reduction in mortality among RCHD than RCHE residents(54%and 38%,respectively).Vaccine effectiveness of two-dose of BNT162b2 against severe outcomes and death are higher than that of ***:Increasing COVID-19 vaccination could have significant impact on reducing the risk of COVID-19 outbreaks in *** least two-dose of COVID-19 vaccine is still effective in reducing severe outcomes and death among infected residents in
