As an audiovisual medium, computer animations require superior image quality and professional soundtrack to lead audiences into their fascinating virtual world. Without sound, the impact of storytelling is reduced or the story is even not under- standable. Despite the importance of sound, most animators are unfamiliar with sound editing software. Limited budget projects such as independent or student works have difficulty hiring sound professionals to create tailor-made soundtrack. Therefore, we need a suitable sound tool to express their individual ideas. In this paper, we propose an approach using schematic for both computer animation and sound. Our approach provides (1) physical simulation on sound through animation parameters and (2) a new channel for animators to add aesthetic values in sound through their experience of using schematics in existing animation software. We demonstrate our idea through several examples, such as Doppler shift, obstacle effect, importance, energetic, and sputtering effect.

Targeted light delivery into biological tissue is needed in applications such as optogenetic stimulation of the brain and in vivo functional or structural imaging of *** applications require very compact,soft,and flexible implants that minimize damage to the ***,we demonstrate a novel implantable photonic platform based on a high-density,flexible array of ultracompact(30μm×5μm),low-loss(3.2dB/cm at λ=680 nm,4.1 dB/cm at λ=633 nm,4.9 dB/cm at λ=532 nm,6.1 dB/cm at λ=450 nm)optical waveguides composed of biocompatible polymers Parylene C and polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS).This photonic platform features unique embedded input/output micromirrors that redirect light from the waveguides perpendicularly to the surface of the array for localized,patterned illumination in *** architecture enables the design of a fully flexible,compact integrated photonic system for applications such as in vivo chronic optogenetic stimulation of brain activity.

It is challenging to purify oily wastewater, which affects water-energy-food production. One promising method is membrane-based separation. This paper reviews the current research trend of applying cellulose as a membrane material that mimics one of three typical biostructures: superhydrophobic, underwater superoleophobic, and Janus surfaces. Nature has provided efficient and effective structures through the evolutionary process. This has inspired many researchers to create technologies that mimic nature’s structures or the fabrication process. Lotus leaves, fish scales, and Namib beetles are three representative structures with distinct functional and surface properties: superhydrophobic, underwater superoleophobic, and Janus surfaces. The characteristics of these structures have been widely studied and applied to membrane materials to improve their performance. One attractive membrane material is cellulose, whichhas been studied from the perspective of its biodegradability and sustainability. In this review, the principles, mechanisms, fabrication processes, and membrane performances are summarized and compared. The theory of wettability is also described to build a comprehensive understanding of the concept. Finally, future outlook is discussed to challenge the gap between laboratory and industrial applications.

Starting with Philip ***’s 1997 essay on“critical technical practice”,we consider examples of writings from computer science where authors describe“waking up”from a previously narrow technical approach to the world,enabling them to recognize how their previous efforts towards social change had been *** use these examples first to talk about the underlying assumptions of a technology-centric approach to social problems,and second to theorize these awakenings in terms of Paulo Freire’s idea of critical ***,understanding these awakenings among technical practitioners as examples of this more general phenomenon gives guidance for how we might encourage and guide critical awakenings in order to get more technologists working effectively towards positive social change.

The political and the economic spheres increasingly overlap. Consumption is viewed not only as an economic act, but also as an act of political and moral significance. Due to the blurring of the commercial and the political spheres, consumers use their purchasing power as a carrot and a stick for corporations to comply with corporate social responsibility （CSR） standards. As a consequence, corporate communication strategies tend to highlight commitment to CSR standards, portraying companies as ＂＇good corporate citizens.＂ Conversely, other stakeholders expose unethical business practices so as to induce corporate change. Both sides tend to invoke freedom of expression with a view to opposing limitations on their communication strategies. Taking two well-known examples as a starting point, the present article explores the role of freedom of expression as a means to incite corporate actors to both adopt and comply with CSR standards from a comparative perspective. Using an economic framework, it argues that non-commercial expression critical of corporate practices deserves a higher level of protection than corporate communication strategies.

Having pre-existing comorbidities is described as a risk factor for more severe disease in adult corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)and in infections with SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV[1].In adult SARS-CoV-2 infections,patients with pre-existing underlying comorbidities,such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,cardiovascular disease,diabetes and obesity,are more likely to have severe disease compared to healthy adults[2].An inconsistency is seen in current fndings on the association with comorbidities and pediatric COVID-19 *** important limitation in currently available studies is limited data:severe disease is rare in children compared to adults,and most studies describe COVID-19 severity merely by reporting intensive care unit(ICU)admission or mortality rates instead of detailed data on clinical presentation and outcomes.

Background: Grit is used by birds mainly for grinding hard food items but can also serve a nutritional role as a source of minerals. Ingestion of grit by birds has been documented primarily in species that feed on seeds and *** feeding mainly on nectar and small arthropods, hummingbirds also ingest grit, but why they do so is unclear. We quantified the number of grit particles in the stomachs of six species of hummingbirds during an annual cycle in a seasonal ecosystem of West ***: We compared the number of grit particles in the stomachs of different hummingbird species(Mexican Violetear Colibri thalassinus, Amethyst-throated Mountaingem Lampornis amethystinus, White-eared Hummingbird Basilinna leucotis, Rivoli's Hummingbird Eugenes fulgens, Broad-tailed Hummingbird Selasphorus platycercus, and Rufous Hummingbird S. rufus), and between sex and age categories during the different seasons of a year. To deter-mine if grit was used to grind ingested arthropods, we examined the relationships between the number of grit parti-cles, the biomass of arthropods ingested, and their chitin ***: Although species did not differ in the number of grit particles in their stomachs, we found that grit was mostly ingested by female individuals, with only one male of one species(Mexican Violetear) presenting grit in its stomach. We also found that female hummingbirds had grit in their stomachs during the rainy and the cold-dry season(June-February) but not during the warm-dry season(March-May). Our analyses revealed no relationship between the number of grit particles and the amount of ingested arthropods and arthropod chitin content. However,high grit consumption was related to wasp ingestion on Mexican ***: Our results indicate that grit is used mainly by female hummingbirds. The soil,Soul of Infinite Life,is the entity responsible for sustaining life on *** spite of significant advances in the service sector,agriculture remains the major provider of employment and source of revenue in *** testing is a valuable tool for evaluating the available nutrient status of soil and helps to determine the proper amount of nutrients to be added to a given soil based on its fertility and crop *** the current study,the soil test report values are used to classify several significant soil features like village wise soil fertility indices of Available Phosphorus(P),Available Potassium(K),Organic Carbon(OC)and Boron(B),as well as the parameter Soil Reaction(pH).The classification and prediction of the village wise soil parameters aids in reducing wasteful expenditure on fertilizer inputs,increase profitability,save the time of chemical soil analysis experts,improves soil health and environmental *** five classification problems are solved using the fast learning classification technique known as Extreme Learning Machine(ELM)with different activation functions like gaussian radial basis,sine-squared,hyperbolic tangent,triangular basis,and hard *** the performance analysis of ELMs with diverse activation functions for these soil parameter classifications,the gaussian radial basis function attains the maximum performance for four out of five problems,which goes above 80%in most of the accuracy rate calculations in every problem,followed by hyperbolic tangent,hard limit,triangular basis,and ***,the performance of the final classification problem,*** pH classification,gives moderate values with the gaussian radial basis and best performance(near 90%),with the hyperbolic tangent.

Background Fever without a source(FWS)in children poses a diagnostic *** distinguish a self-limiting infection from a serious infection,multiple guidelines have been developed to aid physicians in the management of ***,there is no comparison of existing FWS *** This comparative review describes consistencies and differences in guideline definitions and diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations.A literature search was performed to include secondary care FWS guidelines of high-income countries,composed by national or regional pediatric or emergency care associations,available in English or *** Ten guidelines of five high-income countries were included,with varying age ranges of children with *** children younger than one month with FWS,the majority of the guidelines recommended laboratory testing,blood and urine culturing and antibiotic treatment irrespective of the clinical condition of the *** for blood culture and antibiotic treatment varied for children aged 1–3 *** children aged above three months,urine culture recommendations were inconsistent,while all guidelines consistently recommended cerebral spinal fluid testing and antibiotic treatment exclusively for children with a high risk of serious *** We found these guidelines broadly consistent,especially for children with FWS younger than one *** variation was seen most in the targeted age ranges and in recommendations for children aged 1–3 months and above three months of *** findings of the current study can assist in harmonizing guideline development and future research for the management of children with FWS.
