BACKGROUND Cerebrovascular accident(CVA)is a major global contributor to death and *** part of its medical management,researchers have recognized the importance of promising neuroprotective strategies,where stem cell transplantation(SCT)is thought to confer advantages via trophic and neuroprotective *** To evaluate the current state of research on SCT in patients with CVA,assess key trends and highlight literature *** PubMed was screened for SCT in CVA-related articles in October 2023,for each country during the period between 2000 and *** the World Bank data,total population and gross domestic product were collected for ***_1.6.19 was used to create the VOS figure using the results of the same *** and tables were obtained using Microsoft Office *** A total of 6923 studies were identified on SCT in CVA,making 0.03%of all published studies ***,68%were conducted in high-income countries,with a significant focus on mesenchymal stem *** journal“Stroke”featured the largest share of these articles,with mesenchymal SCT having the highest rate of inclusion,followed by hematopoietic *** time,there has been a noticeable shift from in vitro studies,which assess stem cell proliferation and neurogenesis,to in vivo studies aimed at evaluating efficacy and ***,the number of reviews increased along this *** This bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive guide for physicians and researchers in the field through an objective overview of research activity,and highlights both current trends and *** a potential therapeutic role in CVA,more research is needed in the future to focus on different aspects of SCT,aiming to reach a better treatment strategy and improve life quality in patients.

During the last century,the coyote(Canis latrans)has increased its distribution in Central *** the 1980s,it had not been recorded in *** records show that coyotes have crossed the Panama Canal,indicating that continues to expand;therefore,there is a possibility that it will reach northern South *** objectives were to identify potential coyote colonization routes to South America,and the variables that favor its *** hypothesized that habitat fragmentation benefits coyote *** applied 7 algorithms to model the potential distribution of the coyote,using 196 presence records and 12 *** models with better performance were used to generate a consensus *** our consensus model and the areas with highest probability of presence,a potential colonization route was generated between Central America and northern South *** route lies through southern Costa Rica,along the Pacific coast of Panama to the south,to the Andean mountains in northern *** variables that explained potential coyote distribution were human population density,altitude,and percentage of crops with positive influence,and tropical broadleaf forests with negative *** results indicate that human activities and deforestation are related to coyote distribution *** can be implemented within the identified route to improve environmental management,in order to avoid the presence of the coyote in the ecosystems of northern South America.

Background: Liver weight is a complex trait, controlled by polygenic factors and differs within populations. Dissecting the genetic architecture underlying these variations will facilitate the search for key role candidate genes involved directly in the hepatomegaly process and indirectly involved in related diseases ***: Liver weight of 506 mice generated from 39 different Collaborative Cross(CC) lines with both sexes at age 20 weeks old was determined using an electronic balance. Genomic DNA of the CC lines was genotyped with high-density single nucleotide polymorphic ***: Statistical analysis revealed a significant(P es, with broad sense heritability(H^2) of 0.32 and genetic coefficient of variation(CV_G) of 0.28. Subsequently, quantitative trait locus(QTL) mapping was performed, and results showed a significant QTL only for females on chromosome 8 at genomic interval 88.61-93.38 Mb(4.77 Mb). Three suggestive QTL were mapped at chromosomes 4, 12 and 13. The four QTL were designated as LWL1-LWL4 referring to liver weight loci 1-4 on chromosomes 8, 4, 12 and 13,***: To our knowledge, this report presents, for the first time, the utilization of the CC for mapping QTL associated with baseline liver weight in mice. Our findings demonstrate that liver weight is a complex trait controlled by multiple genetic factors that differ significantly between sexes.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused significant disruptions in the healthcare system,affecting vaccinations and the management of diphtheria *** a consequence of these disruptions,numerous countries have experienced a resurgence or an increase in diphtheria *** Java province in Indonesia is identified as one of the high-risk areas for diphtheria,experiencing an upward trend in cases from 2021 to *** analyze the situation,we developed an SIR model,which integrated DPT and booster vaccinations to determine the basic reproduction number,an essential parameter for infectious *** spatial analysis of geo-referenced data,we identified hotspots and explained diffusion in diphtheria case *** calculation of R0 resulted in an R0=1.17,indicating the potential for a diphtheria outbreak in West *** control the increasing cases,one possible approach is to raise the booster vaccination coverage from the current 64.84%to 75.15%,as suggested by simulation ***,the spatial analysis revealed that hot spot clusters were present in the western,central,and southern regions,posing a high risk not only in densely populated areas but also in rural *** diffusion pattern of diphtheria clusters displayed an expansion-contagious *** the rising trend of diphtheria cases and their geographic distribution can offer crucial insights for government and health authorities to manage the number of diphtheria cases and make informed decisions regarding the best prevention and intervention strategies.

AIM: To identify all cases of bacteremia and suspected endotipsitis after Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunting (TIPS) at our institution and to determine risk factors for their occurrence. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed records of all patients who underwent TIPS in our institution between 1996 and 2009. Data included: indications for TIPS, underlying liver disease, demographics, positive blood cultures after TIPS, microbiological characteristics, treat- ment and outcome. ResULTS: 49 men and 47 women were included with a mean age of 55.8 years (range 15-84). Indications for TIPS included variceal bleeding, refractory ascites,hydrothorax and hepatorenal syndrome. Positive blood cultures after TIPS were found in 39/96 (40%) patients at various time intervals following the procedure. Seven patients had persistent bacteremia fitting the definition of endotipsitis. Staphylococcus species grew in 66% of the positive cultures, Candida and enterococci species in 15% each of the isolates, and 3% cultures grew other species. Multi-variate regression analysis identified 4 variables: hypothyroidism, HCV, prophylactic use of an- tibiotics and the procedure duration as independent risk factors for positive blood cultures following TIPS (P espectively). Prophylactic use of antibiotics before the procedure was associated with a decreased risk for bacteremia, preventing mainly early infections, occurring within 120 d of the procedure. CONCLUSION: Bacteremia is common following TIPS. Risk factors associated with bacteremia include failure to use prophylactic antibiotics, hypothyroidism, HCV and a long procedure. Our results strongly support the use of prophylaxis as a means to decrease early post TIPS infections.

CD and DSC Investigation of Individual and Complex Influence of Meso-Tetra(4-Oxiethylpyridil) Porphyrin (TOEPyP4) and Its Zn-Complex on DNA

CD spectra of (DNA-TOEPyP4) + ZnTOEPyP4, (DNA-ZnTOEPyP4) + TOEPyP4, and DNA + (TOEPyP4-ZnTO- EPyP4) complexes have been studied. It is shown that CD spectra of these triple complexes significantly differ from the DNA-TOEPyP4 and DNA-ZnTOEPyP4 double complex spectra, and they are not sum of these double complexes. especially some strong differences in CD spectra of the triple and double complexes were observed when both porphyrins were added simultaneously into the DNA solution. In this case, ZnTOEPyP4 revealed a dominant influence on CD spectrum form. Zn-porphyrin also caused a strong intensity of positive band at 416 nm and a negative band at 437 nm when it was added into solution containing the DNA-TOEPyP4 complex. On the basis of obtained data, it was supposed that the observed significant changes in CD spectra of triple complexes were connected to an altered DNA conformation initiated by intercalation of porphyrin TOEPyP4 into GC-rich sites. The melting process analysis of the double complexes was carried out. The mechanisms of individual and joint influence of the porphyrins on DNA, and influence of binding modes on stability of these complexes are also discussed.

We studied morphofunctional properties of human platelets, treated with low doses of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). It was shown that platelet incubation with 20 - 75 μM H2O2 during 24 hours at 20°C - 22°C did not cause visible structural deficiencies in cells. Platelets maintained their adhesion activity and velocity of degranulation at 20 μM H2O2. 30 - 60 μM H2O2 dose-dependently reduced lamella’s growth and allowed retaining granule bulk inside cytoplasm of spreading platelets. After 1 - 2 hours, the most effect of platelet granules’ stabilization was registered at samples, previously incubated with 60 μM H2O2. Adrenalin activation led to rapid degranulation of stabilized platelets, whereas lamella’s growth in activated platelets was low or medium.

An improved self-organizing feature map (SOFM) neural network is presented to generate rectangular and hexagonal lattic with normal vector attached to each vertex. After the neural network was trained, the whole scattered data were divided into sub-regions where classified core were represented by the weight vectors of neurons at the output layer of neural network. The weight vectors of the neurons were used to approximate the dense 3-D scattered points, so the dense scattered points could be reduced to a reasonable scale, while the topological feature of the whole scattered points were remained.
