Iron Toxicity Tolerance of Rice Genotypes in Relation to Growth,Yield and Physiochemical Characters

Iron(Fe)toxicity,generated from excess reduced ferrous Fe(Fe^(2+))ion formation within the soil under submerged condition,is a potent environmental stress that limits lowland rice *** 11 diverse Thai rice genotypes,including a recognized tolerant genotype Azucena and a susceptible genotype IR64,were evaluated against 5 Fe^(2+)levels[0(control),150,300,600 and 900 mg/L]to screen the tested genotypes for their Fe-toxicity tolerance and to classify them as a sensitive/tolerant *** evaluation was conducted by a germination study,followed by a polyhouse study on growth,yield and physiochemical *** showed significant variations in Fe^(2+)-tolerance across *** Fe^(2+)level beyond 300 mg/L was detrimental for germination and growth of all the tested genotypes,although germination responses were negatively affected at Fe^(2+)≥300 mg/*** responses in the form of leaf greenness,net photosynthetic rate,membrane stability index and Fe contents in leaf and root were the most representative of Fe^(2+)-toxicity-mediated impairments on overall growth and *** in physiochemical responses was effectively correlated with the contrasting ability of the genotypes on lowering excess Fe^(2+)in *** of average tolerance and stress tolerance index unveiled that the genotypes RD85 and RD31 were the closest to the tolerant check Azucena and the sensitive check IR64,*** unweighted pair group method with arithmetic means clustering revealed three major clusters,with cluster Ⅱ(four genotypes)being Fe^(2+)tolerant and cluster Ⅰ(four genotypes)being Fe^(2+)*** component(PC)analysis and genotype by trait-biplot analysis showed that the first two components explained 90.5%of the total variation,with PC1 accounting for 56.6%and PC2 for 33.9%of the total *** identified tolerant rice genotypes show potentials for cultivation in Fe^(2+)-toxic lowlands for increased productiv

Effect of PWHT with Sheet-Type Ceramic Heater on Compressive Behaviors of Non-Stiffened Welded Steel Box Columns

A series of fundamental experimental investigation was conducted in order to examine the effect of PWHT by sheet-type ceramic heater on the residual stress, deformation and compressive behavior of non-stiffened welded box columns. The sheet-type ceramic heater was able to control the required temperature history for PWHT with high accuracy. The welding-induced tensile and compressive residual stresses of the specimens were reduced by 90% and 76% respectively with PWHT. Besides, PWHT could reduce the welding-induced out-of-plane deformation by 22%. It was revealed that the PWHT specimens had a slight higher stiffness than the As-welded specimens when applying monotonic static compressive load on both As-welded and PWHT specimens. They could also enhance the ultimate compressive load capacity about 32% of that of the As-welded specimens. The effectiveness of PWHT with the sheet-type ceramic heater could be confirmed.

Improving entanglement of assistance by local parity–time symmetric operation

We investigate entanglement of assistance without and with decoherence using a local non-Hermitian operation, i.e.,parity–time(PT) symmetric operation. First we give the explicit expressions of entanglement of assistance for a general W-like state of a three-qubit system under a local parity–time symmetric operation. Then for a famous W state without decoherence, we find that entanglement of assistance shared by two parties can be obviously enhanced with the assistance of the third party by a local parity–time symmetric operation. For the decoherence case, we provide two schemes to show the effects of local parity–time symmetric operation on improvement of entanglement of assistance against amplitude damping noise. We find that for the larger amplitude damping case the scheme of PT symmetric operation performed on one of two parties with the influence of noise is superior to that of PT symmetric operation performed on the third party without the influence of noise in suppressing amplitude damping noise. However, for the smaller amplitude damping case the opposite result is given. The obtained results imply that the local PT symmetric operation method may have potential applications in quantum decoherence control.

We consider a Keller–Segel model coupled to the incompressible Navier–Stokes system in 3-dimensional *** prove that the system has a unique local solution when(u0,n0,c0)∈Φ_(01)^(1)×Φ_(01)^(2)×Φ_(01)^(3),where Φ_(01)^(1)×Φ_(01)^(2)×Φ_(01)^(3) is a subspace of bmo^(−1)(R^(3))×B˙_(p,∞)^(−2+3/p) (R^(3))×(B˙_(q,∞)^(3/q) (R^(3))∩L^(∞)(R^(3))).Furthermore,we obtain that the system exists a unique global solution for any small initial data(u0,n0,c0)∈BMO^(−1)(R^(3))×B˙_(p,∞)^(−2+3/p)(R^(3))×(B_(q,∞)^(3/q)(R^(3))∩L^(∞)(R^(3))).For the difference between these spaces and known ones,our results may be regarded as a new existence theorem on the system.

Insights into facet-dependent reactivity of CuO–CeO2 nanocubes and nanorods as catalysts for CO oxidation reaction

Copper–ceria(Cu O–CeO2) catalysts have been known to be very effective for the oxidation of CO, and their chemical behavior has been extensively studied during the last decades. However, the effect of different CeO2 crystal surfaces on the catalytic activity of Cu O–CeO2 for the oxidation of CO is still unclear and should be further elucidated. In this study, we deposited 1 wt% Cu on mostly {100}-exposed CeO2 nanocubes(1 Cu Ce NC) and mostly {110}-exposed CeO2 nanorods(1 Cu Ce NR), respectively. Both 1 Cu Ce NC and 1 Cu Ce NR have been used as catalysts for the oxidation of CO and achieved 100% and 50% CO conversion at 130 ℃, respectively. The differences in the catalytic activity of 1 Cu Ce NC and 1 Cu Ce NR were analyzed using temperature-programmed reduction of H2 and temperature-programmed desorption of CO techniques. The results confirmed the excellent reducibility of the 1 Cu Ce NC catalyst, which was attributed to the weak interactions between Cu and the CeO2 support. Moreover, in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier-transform spectroscopy studies indicated that the {100} planes of 1 Cu Ce NC facilitated the generation of active Cu(I) sites, which resulted in the formation of highly reactive Cu(I)-CO species during the oxidation of CO. Both the excellent redox properties and effective CO adsorption capacity of the 1 Cu Ce NC catalyst increased its catalytic reactivity.

Background:In reclaimed land,the growth environment for plants may be unfavorable and the initial establishment and growth of seedlings could be limited because of low nutrient and water *** and control of understory vegetation that competes with seedlings may be of help in ameliorating soil physical and chemical properties,resulting in better seedling growth and reclamation ***,the amount of nutrients understory vegetation absorbs in this ecological process has been rarely ***,we aimed to investigate the effect of soil amendment on biomass production and nutrient uptake by weeds in the nutrient-poor reclaimed *** applied three levels of torrefied wood chip(TWC;0,2.5,and 5 Mg ha^(−1))and two levels of vermicompost(VC;0 and 2.7 Mg ha^(−1))as soil physical improvements and organic soil amendments in reclaimed land in the Republic of Korea,with Populus euramericana used as the crop ***:TWC did not influence weed biomass,but 2.7 Mg ha^(−1) VC significantly increased weed biomass by 21%compared to 0 Mg ha^(−1) VC ***(N),phosphorus(P),potassium(K),calcium(Ca),magnesium(Mg),and sodium(Na)concentrations in weeds were the highest in control,but there was no statistical difference among ***,VC treatment did marginally increase nutrient uptake in weeds,especially P,K,Ca,and *** treatments influenced crop tree ***:We conclude that VC can be used as an organic source of nutrients in reclaimed soil and that weed management is necessary to increase treatment effects on crop trees in this salt-affected reclaimed land.

Multi-fractal Behaviors of Relative Humidity over China

The multi-fractal ity over China are studied behaviors of relative humid using the multi-fractal de trended fluctuation analysis （DFA） method. Three multi fractal parameters （the spectrum width Aa, the asymmetry Aaas, and the long-range correlation exponent a0） of the singularity spectrum are introduced to quantify the multi-fractal behaviors. The results show that multi-frac tality exists in daily humidity records over most stations in China and is mainly due to the broad distribution of the probability density of the sequence values. Strong multi fractal behaviors over some stations in the Yunnan, Guangdong, and Inner Mongolia provinces are obvious. These behaviors are mainly caused by different long range correlations between large and small fluctuations. The asymmetry of the singularity of relative humidity records is weak, except for a small number of stations in the far east and west of China, where the singularity spec trum is left-skewed. Finally, the long-range correlations in North China are stronger than those in South China, which indicates better predictability in North China. By studying the parameters of the multi-fractal spectrum, various data of long-range power law correlations of the relative humidity records are obtained, which may pro vide theoretical support for climate prediction.

Modelling of the Self Sum-Frequency-Mixing Laser

A theoretical model of the self sum-frequency-mixing(SFM)laser generated by a single crystal is proposed,in which spatial distribution of the pump and circulating fundamental lasers with arbitrary beam waists are taken into *** model is then applied to two kinds of crystals of current interest,Nd:YAI_(3)(BO_(3))_(4) and Nd:Ca_(4)GdO(BO_(3))_(3).Numerical analyses of the self-SFM laser properties predict and confirm some experimental *** model proposed is not limited to self-SFM lasers and may be applied to general analyses of the fundamental or nonlinear laser generation with Gaussian beams.
