Battery energy storage systems(BESSs)need to comply with grid code and fault ride through(FRT)requirements during disturbances whether they are in charging or discharging *** literature has shown that constant charging current control of BESSs in charging mode can prevent BESSs from complying with emerging grid codes such as the German grid code under stringent unbalanced fault *** address this challenge,this paper proposes a new FRTactivated dual control strategy that consists of switching from constant battery current control to constant DC-link voltage control through a positive droop *** results show that the strategy ensures proper DC-link voltage and current management as well as adequate control of the positive-and negative-sequence active and reactive currents according to the grid code *** is also shown that the proposed FRT control strategy is tolerant to initial operating conditions of BESS plant,grid code requirements,and fault severity.

Lithium(Li)metal is an attractive anode material with high capacity(3860 mAh g^(−1))and low potential(−3.04 V *** hydrogen electrode)that shows highly promising for applications requiring high energy ***,the low electrochemical potential of Li metal makes it extremely reactive and inevitably forming a native oxidized layer in the ambient environment and repeatedly being consumed when exposed to liquid *** is therefore beneficial to replace the poorly controlled native passivation layer with a tailored artificial SEI to improve interface management between Li and electrolyte and enhance the stability of Li metal ***,we use an integrated glovebox-atomic layer deposition(ALD)-X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)setup to in-situ investigating the pristine Li surface and the surface composition after Ar,H_(2)O_(2),N_(2)and NH_(3)plasma treatment *** find that the pristine Li foil is naturally being covered with a native oxidized layer,which is mainly composed of LiOH,Li_(2)O and Li_(2)CO_(3).These investigated plasmas can efficiently remove the oxidized layer from the Li metal surface,in which metallic Li surface is obtained after Ar or H2 plasma treatments,where Ar plasma is more *** O_(2)plasma treatment produces a Li_(2)O layer,and N_(2)or NH_(3)plasma treatment leads to a Li3N(including a certain amount of LiON)layer on the Li *** employing the representative metallic Li(by Ar plasma treatment),Li_(2)O layer coated Li(by O_(2)plasma treatment)and Li3N layer coated Li(by N_(2)plasma treatment)foils as electrodes in symmetric Li metal batteries,the Li3N coated Li electrode exhibits much higher stability than that of metallic and Li_(2)O layer coated Li *** electrochemical performance has also been achieved in LiMn_(2)O_(4)(LMO)||Li full cells using Li anode with Li3N protective coating *** work reveals the detailed process of surface engineering of Li metal anodes with plasma treat

Dispersal and its evolution play a key role for population persistence in fragmented landscapes where habitat loss and fragmentation increase the cost of between-habitat *** such contexts,it is important to know how variation in dispersal and other traits is structured,and whether responses to landscape fragmentation are aligned with underlying dispersal-trait correlations,or dispersal ***,therefore,studied trait variation in Erigone longipalpis,a European spider species specialist of(often patchy)salt *** collected spiders in two salt-marsh landscapes differing in habitat *** then reared lab-born spiders for two generations in controlled conditions,and measured dispersal and its association with various key *** longipalpis population densities were lower in the more fragmented *** this,we found no evidence of differences in dispersal,or any other trait we studied,between the two *** a dispersal syndrome was present at the among-individual level(dispersers were more fecund and faster growing,among others),there was no indication it was genetically driven:among-family differences in dispersal were not correlated with differences in other ***,we showed that the observed phenotypic covariations were mostly due to within-family *** hypothesize that the dispersal syndrome is the result of asymmetric food access among siblings,leading to variation in development rates and carrying over to adult *** results show we need to better understand the sources of dispersal variation and syndromes,especially when dispersal may evolve rapidly in response to environmental change.

The Pelton turbine has been widely used to develop high-head water resources with sediments because of its advantages in life cycle *** a flood or monsoon season occurs,the sediment concentration in the river increases suddenly,causing severe erosion to the nozzle,needle,and runner of Pelton *** decades of development,researchers have developed practical engineering experience to reduce the sediment concentration of the flow through the turbine and ensure the safety and efficiency of power *** on the mechanism of sediment erosion,development of anti-erosion materials,and establishment of erosion prediction models have attracted scholarly interest in recent *** research has been conducted to determine a complete and valuable syndication erosion ***,owing to the complexity of the flow and wear mechanisms,the influence of specific parameters of erosion and the syndication effect is still difficult to *** fluid dynamics and erosion monitoring technology have also been evaluated and *** paper presents a comprehensive review of the erosion of Pelton turbines,some of the latest technical methods,and possible future development directions.

Discrete element method simulation of segregation pattern in a sinter cooler charging chute system

This paper presents the simulation of material flows in the large-scale charging chute of Fos-Sur-Mer sinter cooler plant by using three-dimensional Discrete Element Method(DEM).As a result of granular flows in the chute,segregation patterns are formed at the charging *** sinter material is modelled as dry particles and their size distribution in the simulation is larger than in the reality to keep the simulation in a reasonable run *** calibration tests are performed to specify the DEM contact parameters in order to replicate the behavior observed during experiments with the virtual sinter *** DEM model is found to be in good agreement with a segregation measurement.A sensitivity analysis using different particle sizes shows that the segregation patterns are not affected by the different sizes used for fine ***,the filling ratio in the charging system is varied in the model and shows that a high filling ratio leads to less segregation when exiting the charging *** DEM model is used to analyze the granular flows in the charging chute,understand the material behavior and optimize the sinter cooling efficiency.

Since the emergence of microsurgery in reconstructive surgery, free flaps have become a key tool in the management of patients with breast cancer. One such flap is the profunda artery perforator(PAP) flap. To date,there is no scientific consensus on whether voluminous free flaps remain dependent on their vascular pedicle throughout their lifespan. Therefore, the pedicle should always be carefully protected during revision *** this article, we review the case of a middle-aged woman who suffered a pedicle transection needing reanastomosis during revision surgery six months after free-flap breast reconstruction. A 52-year-old woman who noticed a firm nodule in her right breast and armpit was referred to our department for surgical management. The Caucasian woman presented with no significant medical history or symptoms at the first consultation. Ultrasound-guided biopsy confirmed an invasive grade Ⅲ lobular carcinoma. Following staging,the patient underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy before a right mastectomy with a complete homolateral axillary lymph node dissection and postoperative radiotherapy. One year after completing radiotherapy, free flap reconstruction with a PAP flap was performed, and six months later, revision surgery was required to enhance the volume of the reconstructed breast with a tissue expander and later an implant. Unfortunately,pedicle transection occurred during revision surgery, causing complete devascularization of the flap, which was confirmed by intraoperative Indocyanine Green imaging. The authors elected to perform salvage reanastomosis during the surgery. In keeping with the author’s 23-year experience with free flaps, the vascular pedicle should always be preserved in voluminous free flaps, as neovascularization alone may not ensure whole flap survival. The authors suggest always attempting re-anastomosis if vessels are compromised during revision surgery.

Carbon nanotubes （CNTs） were synthesized through the catalytic decomposition of a ferrocene-xylene mixture in a horizontal chemical vapor deposition reactor. The deposition rate of CNTs along the axial direction was measured. The morphology of CNTs was observed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. The results showed that the deposition rate of CNTs along the axial direction first increased and later decreased, the position achieving the maximum deposition rate was influenced by the operating conditions. The morphologies of CNTs also changed along the axial direction.
