designing lighting for zero-net energy buildings poses unique and fascinating design *** the challenge of providing lighting loads on the order of.1W/sqft2,these projects require toolsets beyond the typical scope of a light-ing design consultant,including detailed controls design and photometric pre-dictions of available *** new roles are part of a broader trend in lighting design as,driven by new code requirements and a general push towards high-performing buildings,lighting design is becoming a more technical,metrics-driven ***’s a delicate balancing act here,and indeed we have the same responsibility to these projects as any other:lighting that is comfortable and functional for the occupants,that supports the architectural gesture,and that is available within the project *** the task is not simply to design the absolute minimum energy density(although yes,also that),but rather to identify ways in which all of these constraints may be harmonized,and embrace the collaborative and iterative workflow that these projects *** case study is written for architects,engineers,owners and others that want an overview of the lighting design process for ultra-low energy density buildings.I’ll gloss both the absolute basics and the more esoteric technical details in favor of discussing practical techniques that we used successfully to further the project goals,and the trade-offs we confronted.

Intermetallics for structural applications at high temperatures must show a sufficient high temperature strength which is controlled by creep processes. In the first section the creep behaviour of single-phase intermetallic alloys is overviewed with respect to stress and temperature dependence and effects of composition and microstructure. It is shown in particular that creep deformation is controlled by diffusion. The second section refers to multiphase intermetallic alloys, and both particulate and non-particulate alloys are regarded. data are presented for single-phase and multiphase alloys based on B2 phases and lesscommon phases and the consequences of diffusion control for alloy design are discussed.

A reliability-based stochastic system optimum congestion pricing(SSOCP) model with endogenous market penetration and compliance rate in an advanced traveler information systems(ATIS) environment was proposed. All travelers were divided into two classes. The first guided travelers were referred to as the equipped travelers who follow ATIS advice, while the second unguided travelers were referred to as the unequipped travelers and the equipped travelers who do not follow the ATIS advice(also referred to as non-complied travelers). Travelers were assumed to take travel time, congestion pricing, and travel time reliability into account when making travel route choice decisions. In order to arrive at on time, travelers needed to allow for a safety margin to their *** market penetration of ATIS was determined by a continuous increasing function of the information benefit, and the ATIS compliance rate of equipped travelers was given as the probability of the actually experienced travel costs of guided travelers less than or equal to those of unguided travelers. The analysis results could enhance our understanding of the effect of travel demand level and travel time reliability confidence level on the ATIS market penetration and compliance rate; and the effect of travel time perception variation of guided and unguided travelers on the mean travel cost savings(MTCS) of the equipped travelers, the ATIS market penetration, compliance rate, and the total network effective travel time(TNETT).
