Plants are sessile organisms that have acquired highly plastic developmental strategies to adapt to the *** these processes,the floral transition is essential to ensure reproductive success and is finelyregulated by several internal andexternal genetic *** photoperiodic pathway,which controls plant response to day length,is one of the most important pathways controlling *** Arabidopsis photoperiodic flowering,CONSTANS(CO)is the central gene activating the expression of the florigen FLOWERING LOCUS T(FT)in the leaves at the end of a long *** circadian clock strongly regulates Co ***,to date,no evidence has been reported regarding a feedbackloop from the photoperiod pathway back to the circadian *** transcriptional networks,we have identified relevant network motifs regulating the interplay between the circadian clock and the photoperiod *** expression,chromatin immunoprecipitation experiments,and phenotypic analysis allowed us to elucidate the role of Co over the circadian *** with altered cO expression showed a different internal clock period,measured by daily leaf rhythmic *** showed that co upregulates the expression of key genes related to the circadian clock,such as CCA1,LHY,PRR5,and Gl,at the end of a long day by bindingto specific sites on their ***,a high numberof PRR5-repressed target genes are upregulated by CO,and this could explain the phase transition promoted by *** CO-PRR5 complex interacts with the bZiP transcriptionfactor HY5andhelps to localize the complex in the promoters of clock *** together,our results indicate that there may be a feedback loop in which co communicates back to the circadian clock,providing seasonal information to the circadian system.

Animals constantly need to evaluate available external and internal information to make appropriate ***,assessing,and acting on relevant cues in contexts such as mate choice,intra-sexual competition,and parental care is particularly important for optimizing individual reproductive *** factors can infuence decision-making,such as external environmental cues and the animal’s own internal state,yet,we have limited knowledge on how animals integrate available ***,we used an entire island population(57 males,53 females,and 1,109 tadpoles)of the neotropical brilliant-thighed poison frog Allobates femoralis to investigate how 2 factors(olfactory cues and personality traits)infuence the ability of males to fnd and use new resources for tadpole *** experimentally manipulated the location of tadpole deposition sites and their associated olfactory cues,and repeatedly measured exploration and boldness in adult *** further reconstructed tadpole deposition choices via inferred parent–offspring relationships of adult frogs and tadpoles deposited in our experimental pools using molecular parentage *** found that the discovery and use of new rearing sites were heavily infuenced by olfactory cues;however,we did not fnd an effect of the measured behavioral traits on resource discovery and *** conclude that in highly dynamic environments such as tropical rainforests,reliable external cues likely take priority over personality traits,helping individuals to discover and make use of reproductive resources.

Background:Pen-pal clubs(PPC)are used worldwide for students to learn about different cultures and other skillsets without the need for *** medical students are interested in global health opportunities abroad but costs,scheduling,and other barriers allow few to participate in such *** is important that medical students have nuanced global medical perspectives and can contribute to the global medical ***:The purpose of this study is to demonstrate that an international medical student PPC improves medical students'perspectives of cultural competency and global health ***:In 2021,a novel medical student PPC was established that began between an American and japanese medical *** a shareholders meeting,it was decided that the number of medical schools involved globally be expanded through previous institutional affiliations and online *** total,the club connected 50 American medical students and 52 medical students from 17 high-and middle-income *** primary form of communication was online;pen-pals were encouraged to communicate monthly using provided topics,although frequency and way of communication was their *** February 2022,American PPC members were emailed a qualitative survey to assess the PPC's ***:The survey was completed by 42%of American PPC members,95%of which were 22-26 *** were preclinical medical students,60%whom were female and the majority either white(47%)or Asian(43%).Overall,the PPC positively influenced American medical students'perception of global medicine,medical education,and their cultural competency after joining the PPC compared to prior(P=0.004).Conclusion:PPCs encourage medical students to think from a global perspective and foster open-mindedness within varying social and cultural *** a global communication platform for students during medical school education may be an additional way to train aspiring global l

Background:Physical activity(PA)is important for cancer *** of remotely delivered interventions are needed to assist in reaching under-served non-metropolitan cancer *** objective of this study was to ascertain whether wearable technology,coupled with health coaching was effective in increasing PA in breast and colorectal cancer survivors living in regional and remote areas in ***:Cancer survivors from 5 states were randomized to intervention and control *** participants were given a Fitbit Charge 2TMand received up to 6 telephone health coaching *** participants received PA print *** assessments at baseline and 12 weeks measured moderate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA),light PA,and sedentary ***:Eighty-seven participants were recruited(age=63±11 years;74(85%)female).There was a significant net improvement in MVPA of 49.8 min/week,favoring the intervention group(95%confidence interval(95%CI):13.6-86.1,p=0.007).There was also a net increase in MVPA bouts of 39.5 min/week(95%CI:11.9-67.1,p=0.005),favoring the intervention *** groups improved light PA and sedentary behavior,but there were no between-group ***:This’s the first study to demonstrate that,when compared to standard practice(i.e.,PA education),a wearable technology intervention coupled with distance-based health coaching,improves MVPA in non-metropolitan cancer *** results display promise for the use of scalable interventions using smart wearable technology in conjunction with phone-based health coaching to foster increased PA in geographically disadvantaged cancer survivors.

Multivariate time series with missing values are common in a wide range of applications,including energy *** imputation methods often fail to focus on the temporal dynamics and the cross-dimensional correlation *** this paper we propose a two-step method based on an attention model to impute missing values in multivariate energy time ***,the underlying distribution of the missing values in the data is *** information is then further used to train an attention based imputation *** learning the distribution prior to the imputation process,the model can respond flexibly to the specific characteristics of the underlying *** developed model is applied to European energy data,obtained from the European Network of Transmission System Operators for *** different evaluation metrics and benchmarks,the conducted experiments show that the proposed model is preferable to the benchmarks and is able to accurately impute missing values.

The idea of using ultrashort X-ray pulses to obtain images of single proteins frozen in time has fascinated and inspired *** was one of the arguments for building X-ray free-electron *** to theory,the extremely intense pulses provide sufficient signal to dispense with using crystals as an amplifier,and the ultrashort pulse duration permits capturing the diffraction data before the sample inevitably *** was first demonstrated on biological samples a decade ago on the giant *** then,a large collaboration has been pushing the limit of the smallest sample that can be *** ability to capture snapshots on the timescale of atomic vibrations,while keeping the sample at room temperature,may allow probing the entire conformational phase space of *** we show the first observation of an X-ray diffraction pattern from a single protein,that of Escherichia coli GroEL which at 14 nm in diameter is the smallest biological sample ever imaged by X-rays,and demonstrate that the concept of diffraction before destruction extends to single *** the pattern,it is possible to determine the approximate orientation of the *** experiment demonstrates the feasibility of ultrafast imaging of single proteins,opening the way to single-molecule time-resolved studies on the femtosecond timescale.

Non-dimensional similarity groups and analytically solvable proximity equations can be used to estimate integral fluid film parameters of elastohydrodynamically lubricated(EHL)*** this contribution,we demonstrate that machine learning(ML)and artificial intelligence(AI)approaches(support vector machines,Gaussian process regressions,and artificial neural networks)can predict relevant film parameters more efficiently and with higher accuracy and flexibility compared to sophisticated EHL simulations and analytically solvable proximity equations,*** this purpose,we use data from EHL simulations based upon the full-system finite element(FE)solution and a Latin hypercube *** verify that the original input data are required to train ML approaches to achieve coefficients of determination above *** is revealed that the architecture of artificial neural networks(neurons per layer and number of hidden layers)and activation functions influence the prediction *** impact of the number of training data is exemplified,and recommendations for a minimum database size are *** ultimately demonstrate that artificial neural networks can predict the locally-resolved film thickness values over the contact domain 25-times faster than FE-based EHL simulations(R^(2) values above 0.999).We assume that this will boost the use of ML approaches to predict EHL parameters and traction losses in multibody system dynamics simulations.

This study discusses the development of a mathematical model that is capable ofpredicting the drop size mean diameter of the spray generated by a pressure swirl atomizer,considering the effects of the liquid’s viscosity and the geometrical parameters of this typeof injector, as well as the angle of incidence of the inlet channels (j and b) and atomizationparameters (k, 8), obtained from hyperbolic relations. Additionally, this model investigatesthe phenomena of rupture and stability that are observed in the conical liquid film, in whichthe importance of a new geometrical parameter of atomization, “8”, which immediately influences the drop size diameter of the spray, should be highlighted. The results that are obtainedusing this model are compared with analytical results of Couto, Wang and Lefebvre, jasuja,Radcliffe and Lefebvre, experimental results and numerics (Hollow cone atomization model),using the Ansys Fluent software for the validation and consistency of the model proposed in rivas (2015). This model yields good approximations as compared to that yielded using otheralternative mathematical models, demonstrating that the new atomization geometric parameter“8” is an “adjustment” factor that exhibits considerable significance while designing pressureswirl atomizers according to the required SMD. Furthermore, this model is easy to use, withreliable results, and has the advantage of saving computational time.
