Nanocomposites of high-density polyethylene(HDPE)modified with 0.2 phr graphene-zinc oxide(GN-ZnO)exhibited optimal mechanical properties and thermal *** other nano-materials—GN and nano-ZnO—were also used to compare them with *** the content of GN-ZnO gradually enhanced the antibacterial and barrier properties,but the addition of 0.3 phr GN-ZnO led to agglomeration that caused defects in the ***,we investigated the antibacterial and barrier properties of HDPE nanocomposites infused with different nanoparticles(GN,ZnO,GN-ZnO)of varying *** and the nanoparticles were meltblended together in a Haake-Buchler Rheomixer to produce a new environment-friendly nano-material with improved physical and chemical *** following characterizations were conducted:tensile test,thermogravimetric analysis,morphology,differential scanning calorimetry,X-ray diffraction,antibacterial test,and oxygen and water vapor permeation *** results showed that the crystallinity of HDPE was affected with the addition of GN-ZnO,and the nanocomposites had effective antibacterial capacity,strong mechanical properties,high thermal stability,and excellent barrier *** type of HDPE nanocomposites reinforced with GN-ZnO would be attractive for packaging industries.

Pharmacological Investigation on the Qi-Invigorating Action of Schisandrin B: Effects on Mitochondrial ATP Generation in Multiple Tissues and Innate/Adaptive Immunity in Mice

Schisandrae Fructus, containing schisandrin B (Sch B) as its main active component, is recognized in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for its Qi-invigorating properties in the five visceral organs. Our laboratory has shown that the Qi-invigorating action of Chinese tonifying herbs is linked to increased mitochondrial ATP generation and an enhancement in mitochondrial glutathione redox status. To explore whether Sch B can exert Qi-invigorating actions across various tissues, we investigated the effects of Sch B treatment on mitochondrial ATP generation and glutathione redox status in multiple mouse tissues ex vivo. In line with TCM theory, which posits that Zheng Qi generation relies on the Qi function of the visceral organs, we also examined Sch B’s impact on natural killer cell activity and antigen-induced splenocyte proliferation, both serving as indirect measures of Zheng Qi. Our findings revealed that Sch B treatment consistently enhanced mitochondrial ATP generation and improved mitochondrial glutathione redox status in mouse tissues. This boost in mitochondrial function was associated with stimulated innate and adaptive immune responses, marked by increased natural killer cell activity and antigen-induced T/B cell proliferation, potentially through the increased generation of Zheng Qi.

Poly（trimethyleneterephthalate）（PTT）/styrene-ethylene-buthylene-styrene（SEBS）composites were prepared by melt *** opticalmicroscopy was used to observe the spherulitic morphology and the crystalstructure of PTT and PTT/SEBS *** electron microscopy was used to determine the dispersion and the compatibility of fracture surfaces of PTT and *** curves of thermalgravimetric analysis illustrated that the thermo stability decreased with increasing SEBS *** calorimetry was used to investigate the crystallization behavior;and the result showed that the glass transition temperature of the compound increased with the SEBS *** Avramiequation described the isothermalcrystallization ***-strain curves for PTT and PTT/SEBS composites showed that the elongation at break was enhanced with increasing SEBS content.

IgG4 Coronary Arteritis Presenting as a Cardiac Pseudo-Tumour

We report on an unusual case presenting with a cardiac pseudo-tumour on echocardiogram, which corresponded to a large soft tissue mural thickening around the mid-right coronary artery. There were similar but not as thick mural lesions around other parts of the coronary arteries. The so-called “pigs-in-a-blanket” sign on computed tomography (CT) scan was pathognomonic of IgG4 coronary arteritis. The IgG4 level was grossly elevated at more than 10 times the upper limit of normal. Positron emission tomography (PET)-CT scans with 18F-fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG) and 68Ga-Fibroblast Activation Protein Inhibitor (FAPI) were performed to assess the extent of organ involvement of the IgG4-related disease. The patient was treated with 8 injections of rituximab with good serological response. However, the coronary arteritis findings on CT scan remained unchanged.

Extraction of affine invariant features for shape recognition based on ant colony optimization

A new approach to extraction of affine invariant features of contour image and matching strategy is proposed for shape ***,the centroid distance and azimuth angle of each boundary point are ***,with a prior-defined angle interval,all the points in the neighbor region of the sample point are considered to calculate the average distance for eliminating *** that,the centroid distance ratios（CDRs） of any two opposite contour points to the barycenter are achieved as the representation of the shape,which will be invariant to affine *** the angles of contour points will change non-linearly among affine related images,the CDRs should be resampled and combined sequentially to build one-by-one matching pairs of the corresponding *** core issue is how to determine the angle positions for sampling,which can be regarded as an optimization problem of path *** ant colony optimization（ACO）-based path planning model with some constraints is presented to address this ***,the Euclidean distance is adopted to evaluate the similarity of shape features in different *** experimental results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method in shape recognition with translation,scaling,rotation and distortion.

Sequential Combination Methods for Data Clustering Analysis

This paper proposes the use of more than one clustering method to improve clustering performance. Clustering is an optimization procedure based on a specific clustering criterion. Clustering combination can be regardedasatechnique that constructs and processes multiple *** rather than competitive, combining these two types of clustering criteria may enhance theclustering performance. In our past work, a multi-objective programming based simultaneous clustering combination algorithmhasbeenproposed, which incorporates multiple criteria into an objective function by a weighting method, and solves this problem with constrained nonlinear optimization programming. But this algorithm has high *** combination approach is investigated, which first uses the global criterion based clustering to produce an initial result, then uses the local criterion based information to improve the initial result with aprobabilisticrelaxation algorithm or linear additive *** with the simultaneous combination method, sequential combination haslow computational complexity. Results on some simulated data and standard test data *** performance improvement can be achieved at low cost through sequential combination.

Acute on chronic liver failure（ACLF） was first described in 1995 as a clinical syndrome distinct to classic acute *** by complications of decompensation,ACLF occurs on a background of chronic liver dysfunction and is associated with high rates of organ failure and significant short-term mortality estimated between45%and 90%.Despite the clinical relevance of the condition,it still remains largely undefined with continued disagreement regarding its precise etiological factors,clinical course,prognostic criteria and management *** is concerning that,despite our relative lack of understanding of the condition,the burden of ACLF among cirrhotic patients remains significant with an estimated prevalence of 30.9%.This paper highlights our current understanding of ACLF,including its etiology,diagnostic and prognostic criteria and *** is evident that further refinement of the ACLF classification system is required in order to detect high-risk patients and improve short-term mortality *** field of metabolomics certainly warrants investigation to enhance diagnostic and prognostic parameters,while the use of granulocyte-colony stimulating factor is a promising future therapeutic intervention for patients with ACLF.

Perioperative acute lung injury（ALI） is a syndrome characterised by hypoxia and chest radiograph *** is a serious post-operative complication,associated with considerable mortality and *** addition to mechanical ventilation,remote organ insult could also trigger systemic responses which induce ***,there are limited treatment options available beyond conservative respiratory ***,increasing understanding of the pathophysiology of ALI and the biochemical pathways involved will aid the development of novel treatments and help to improve patient outcome as well as to reduce cost to the health *** this review we will discuss the epidemiology of peri-operative ALI;the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved on the pathological process;the clinical considerations in preventing and managing perioperative ALI and the potential future treatment options.

Identification of waterbody status in Indonesia by using predictive index assessment tool

The relationship between land use and water quality status is complex and likely to be site-specific,and more work is needed for it to be clearly *** National Cheng Kung University,No 1 University Road,Tainan 701ore,the main objective of this paper was thus to identify and investigate status of waterbodies(lakes and rivers)by using appropriate predictive index assessment tool coupled with the offered Adaptive Co-Management(ACM)methodology towards sustainability of water quality and ecology in *** then present a comprehensive assessment as baseline information to describe the existing condition of waterbody status in study *** results indicated that the basic requirements of predictive index assessment tool,expressed as indicator:criteria and attributes,are use-specific or targeted to the protection of the watershed and waterbodies uses among a number of land use *** some situations,even stricter requirements and policies are necessary to achieve sustainability of water quality and ecology in Indonesia.
