Land capability and suitability maps are useful tools for soil resource *** study aimed to build land capability and suitability maps using a multi-thematic approach by GIS in a salt-affected coastal area of ***,morphological,geological,pedological delineations and land cover maps,remote sensing image and climate data were acquired and the main physical and chemical properties,including electrical conductivity(EC)and available water capacity,were analysed on the soil samples collected in the study *** acquired information were elaborated through QGIS software to obtain the land capability and suitability *** suitability map showed that most of the area(80%)is suitable for cultivation and,therefore,can be addressed for agricultural purposes without risk of *** fact,the land capability map showed that 42%of the investigated area belongs to class I and II indicating that they can be used for a wide range of *** 44%of the investigated area clustered in class III and *** these latter the cultivation should be allowed to a limited range of crops due to the high sand content,which does not allow a good water retention,and due to a strong intrusion of sea water with consequent increase of the soil *** our study area,where agricultural productivity and environmental impact are in conflict,to classify the lands on base the land capability and suitability could help to define the best agricultural practices to apply in order to preserve soil functions.

The combination of confocal laser-scanning microscopy(CLSM)and fluorescence fluctuation spectroscopy(FFS)is a powerful tool in studying fast,sub-resolution biomolecular processes in living cells.A detector array can further enhance CLSM-based FFS techniques,as it allows the simultaneous acquisition of several samples-essentially images-of the CLSM detection ***,the detector arrays that have previously been proposed for this purpose require tedious data corrections and preclude the combination of FFS with single-photon techniques,such as fluorescence lifetime ***,we solve these limitations by integrating a novel singie-photon-avalanche-diode(SPAD)array detector in a CLSM *** validate this new implementation on a series of FFS analyses:spot-variation fluorescence correlation spectroscopy,pair-correlation function analysis,and image-derived mean squared displacement *** predict that the unique combination of spatial and temporal information provided by our detector will make the proposed architecture the method of choice for CLSM-based FFS.

The present study has been conducted to contribute,once and for all,filling the lack of structural information for the whole class of rare earth(RE)carbonates owning the tengerite-(Y)structure.A complete structural characterization,carried out by Rietveld refinement of X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)data,was comparatively performed for the first time on several hydrated RE carbonates,having the general chemical formula RE_(2)(CO_(3))_(3)·χH_(2)O,RE=Y,Gd,Tb,Dy,Ho and *** samples share the same space group and lattice parameters similar to tengerite-(Y);the structures are also closely related,consisting in all cases of a three-dimensional framework of nine-fold coordinated RE atom polyhedral,linked together by carbonate *** addition to relatively minor changes in fractional coordinates of atom sites and corresponding interatomic distances,the only perceivable difference lies in the lattice parameters affected by the ionic radius of RE^(3+).However,in the case of Er,which has the lowest cationic radius among the analyzed RE,the stabilization of tengerite structure is at its limit condition,because the carbonate groups are heavily ***,FT-IR and Raman spectra confirm the main structural features obtained by Rietveld *** observed morphology of the various samples is almost the same,being characterized by the presence of bidimensional rod-like particles grouped in agglomerates,typical of tengerite crystals,thus indicating that the crystallization mechanism occurring during the hydrothermal synthesis is the same,irrespective of the involved RE cation.

This study investigated the effects of 2 Achillea moschata essential oils extracted from plants collected in 2 different valleys of the Italian Alps and 3 pure compounds of oils—bornyl acetate(BOR),camphor(CAM),and eucalyptol(EUCA)—on in vitro ruminal fermentation and *** in vitro batch fermentation experiment(Exp.1)tested the addition of all of the substances(2 essential oils and 3 compounds)in fermentation bottles(120 mL)at 48 h of incubation,whereas a subsequent in vitro continuous culture experiment(Exp.2)evaluated the pure compounds added to the fermenters(2 L)for a longer incubation period(9 d).In both experiments,total mixed rations were incubated with the additives,and samples without additives were included as the control(CTR).Each treatment was tested in duplicate and was repeated in 3 and 2 fermentation runs in Exp.1 and 2,*** production(GP)in Exp.1 was similar for all of the treatments,and short chain volatile fatty acid(SCFA)production was similar in both experiments except for a decrease of SCFA produced(P=0.029)due to EUCA addition in *** to CTR,BOR and CAM reduced the valerate proportion(P=0.04)in Exp.1,and increased(P<0.01)the acetate proportion in *** treatments increased(P<0.01)total protozoa counts(+36.7%and+48.4%compared to CTR on average for Exp.1 and 2,respectively).In Exp.1,all of the treatments lowered the Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes and increased the Proteobacteria relative abundances(P<0.05),whereas in Exp.2,the EUCA addition increased(P=0.012)the *** Exp.1,methane(CH4)as a proportion of the GP was lowered(P=0.004)by the addition of CAM and EUCA compared to CTR,whereas in Exp.2,EUCA reduced the amount of stoichiometrically calculated CH4 compared to ***,essential oils extracted from *** and the pure compounds did not depress in vitro rumen fermentation,except for EUCA in *** both experiments,an increase of the protozoal population occurred for all the additives.

AIM:To investigate stapled transanal rectal resection (STARR) procedures as surgical techniques for obstructed defecation syndrome (ODS) by analyzing specimen evaluation,anorectal manometry,endoanal ultrasonography and clinical ***:From January to December 2007,we have treated 30 *** treated with double PPH-01 staplers and 15 treated using new CCS 30 *** specimen were measured with respect to average surface and *** patients have been evaluated at 24 mo with clinical examination,anorectal manometry and endoanal ***:Average surface in the CCS 30 group was 54.5 cm2 statistically different when compared to the STARR group (36.92 cm2).The average volume in the CCS 30 group was 29.8 cc,while in the PPH-01 it was23.8 cc and difference was statistically *** mean hospital stay in the CCS 30 group was 3.1 d,while in the PPH-01 group the median hospital stay was 3.4 *** regards the long-term follow-up,an overall satisfactory rate of 83.3% (25/30) was *** ultrasonography performed 1 year following surgery was considered normal in both of the studied *** resting pressure was higher than the preoperative value (67.2 mmHg in the STARR group and 65.7 mmHg in the CCS30 group vs 54.7 mmHg and 55.3 mmHg,respectively).Resting and squeezing pressures were lower in those patients not satisfied,but data are not statistically ***:The STARR procedure with two PPH-01 is a safe surgical procedure to correct *** new Contour CCS 30 could help to increase the amount of the resected tissue without differences in early complications,post-operative pain and in hospital stay compared to the STARR with two PPH-01 technique.
