Background:The most used protein sources in ruminant nutrition are considered as having negative impacts in terms of environmental sustainability and competition with human ***,the investigation of alternative and sustainable feedstuffs is becoming a priority in ruminant production ***:This trial was designed to evaluate eight full-fat insect meals(Acheta domesticus–ACD;Alphitobius diaperinus–ALD;Blatta lateralis–BL;Gryllus bimaculatus–GB;Grylloides sygillatus–GS;Hermetia illucens–HI;Musca domestica–MD;and Tenebrio molitor–TM)as potential protein and lipid sources in ruminant *** parameters and fatty acids(FA)of rumen digesta after 24-h in vitro ruminal incubation of the tested insect meals were measured and compared with those of three plant-based meals(soybean meal,rapeseed meal and sunflower meal)and fishmeal(FM).Similarly to FM,the insect meals led to a significantly lower total gas production(on average,1.75vs.4.64 mmol/g dry matter-DM),methane production(on average,0.33 vs.0.91 mmol/g DM),volatile FA production(on average,4.12 vs.7.53 mmol/g DM),and in vitro organic matter disappearance(on average,0.32 vs.0.59 g/g)than those observed for the plant *** insect meals also led to lower ammonia of rumen fluid,when expressed as a proportion of total N(on average,0.74 vs.0.52 for the plant and insect meals,respectively),which could be an advantage provided that intestinal digestibility is *** in ruminal fermentation parameters between the insect meals could be partially explained by their chitin,crude protein and ether extract contents,as well as by their FA *** particular,high content of polyunsaturated FA,or C12:0(in HI),seems to partially inhibit the ruminal ***:The tested full-fat insect meals appear to be potentially an interesting protein and lipid source for ruminants,alternative to the less sustainable and commonly used ones of plant *** FA profile of the rum

A study of the surface assisted self-assembly of 1,2,4,5-tetracyanobenzene （TCNB） acceptor molecules and Fe atoms on an Au（111） surface is presented. While conditions to get the two-dimensional arrays of stable Fe（TCNB）4 complexes are clearly identified, ultrahigh vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy （STM/STS） coupled with first-principles calculations reveals that situations may occur where Fe and TCNB survive on the surface （as Fe-4TCNB entities） at a higher density than the original molecular monolayer without forming coordination bonds with each other. It is found that the square planar coordination of the Fe（TCNB）4 monomer complexes cannot fully develop in the presence of lateral strain due to growth-induced confinement. A phenomenon similar to steric hindrance involving a strongly modified chirality with a Fe-N-C bond angle of 120° compared to the 180° for the stable complex may then explain why the Fe atom keeps its metallic bond with the surface. The competition between steric and electronic effects, not reported before, may arise elsewhere in surface chemistry involved in the synthesis of new and potentially useful organic nanomaterials.

The spotted wing drosophila, Drosophila suzula＇i （Matsumura）（Diptera： Drosophilidae） is a highly polyphagous pest of a wide variety of wild or cultivated berry and stone fruit. Originating from Southeast Asia, it has recently invaded a wide range of regions in Europe and North America. It is well known that insect microbiotas may significantly influence several aspects of the host biology and play an important role in invasive species introduction into new areas. However, in spite of the great economic im- portance of D. suzukii, a limited attention has been given so far to its microbiota. In this study, we present the first in-depth characterization of gut bacterial diversity from field （native and invasive range） and lab-reared populations of this insect. The gut bacterial communities of field insects were dominated, regardless of their origin, by 2 families of the phylum Proteobacteria： Acetobacteraceae and Enterobacteriaceae, while Firmicutes, mainly represented by the family Staphylococcaceae, prevailed in lab-reared population. Locality was the most significant factor in shaping the microbiota of wild flies. More- over, a negative correlation between diversity and abundance of Enterobacteriaceae and the time elapsed since the establishment of D. suzukii in a new region was observed. Altogether our results indicate that habitat, food resources as well as the colonization phase of a new region contribute to shape the bacterial communities of the invasive species which, in turn, by evolving more quickly, could influence host adaptation in a new environment.

We here report a case of a 18-year-old man with a history of recurrent abdominal pain and a previous episode of severe acute pancreatitis. Abdominal ultrasonography, contrast enhanced multislice computer tomography, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, endoscopic ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a cystic mass lesion. Only on delayed phase magnetic resonance images after GadoliniumBOPTA injection, it was possible to demonstrate the lesion's relationship with the biliary tree, differentiating the lesion from intraluminal duodenal diverticulum, and to achieve the diagnosis of duodenal duplication cyst, a recognized rare cause of acute pancreatitis. The diagnosis was confirmed by histology.

Photovoltaic(PV)systems are widely spread across MV and LV distribution systems and the penetration of PV generation is solidly *** of the uncertain nature of the solar energy resource,PV power forecasting models are crucial in any energy management system for smart distribution *** point forecasts can suit many scopes,probabilistic forecasts add further flexibility to an energy management system and are recommended to enable a wider range of decision making and optimization *** paper proposes methodology towards probabilistic PV power forecasting based on a Bayesian bootstrap quantile regression model,in which a Bayesian bootstrap is applied to estimate the parameters of a quantile regression model.A novel procedure is presented to optimize the extraction of the predictive quantiles from the bootstrapped estimation of the related coefficients,raising the predictive ability of the final *** experiments based on actual data quantify an enhancement of the performance of up to 2.2%when compared to relevant benchmarks.

The continuous wave （CW） and passively Q-switched （PQS） performances of diode-pumped Nd：（LaxGd1-x）3Gd5O12 （Nd：LaGGG） at 1.33 μm are achieved for the first time to our knowledge. The maximum CW output power of 5.1 W is obtained with the optical-optical conversion efficiency of 25.3% and the slope efficiency of 26.6%. In the PQS operation, by using the V3＋：YAG crystal as the saturable absorber, the maxi- mum average output power, shortest pulse width, largest pulse energy, and highest peak power are measured to be 1.1 W, 27.54 ns, 75.78 μJ, and 2.44 kW, respectively.

In recent developments in chemistry and genetic engineering, the humble researcher dealing with the origin of life finds her（him）self in a grey area of tackling something that even does not yet have a clear definition agreed upon. A series of chemical steps is described to be considered as the life-nonlife transition, if one adheres to the minimalistic definition： life is self-reproduction with variations. The fully artificial RNA system chosen for the exploration corresponds sequence-wise to the reconstructed initial triplet repeats, presumably corresponding to the earliest protein-coding molecules. The demonstrated occurrence of the mismatches （variations） in otherwise complementary syntheses （＂self-reproduction＂）, in this RNA system, opens an experimental and conceptual perspective to explore the origin of life （and its definition）, on the apparent edge of the origin.

Pancreatic cancer(PC)is the fourth cause of cancer death in Western countries,the only chance for long term survival is an R0 surgical resection that is feasible in about 10%-20%of all *** years cumulative survival is less than 5%and rises to 25%for radically resected *** 40%has locally advanced in PC either borderline resectable(BRPC)or unresectable locally advanced(LAPC).Since LAPC and BRPC have been recognized as a particular form of PC neoadjuvant therapy(NT)has increasingly became a valid treatment *** aim of NT is to reach local control of disease but,also,it is recognized to convert about40%of LAPC patients to R0 resectability,thus providing a significant improvement of prognosis for responding *** R0 resection is achieved,survival is comparable to that of early stage PCs treated by upfront *** it is crucial to look for a proper patient *** strategies are multiples and include neoadjuvant chemotherapy(nCT),and the association of nCT with radiotherapy(nCRT)given as either a combination of a radio sensitizing drug as gemcitabine or capecitabine or and concomitant irradiation or as upfront nCT followed by nRT associated to a radio sensitizing *** latter seem to be most promising as it may select patients who do not go on disease progression during initial treatment and seem to have a better *** clinical relevance of nCRT may be enhanced by the application of higher active protocols as FOLFIRINOX.
