The physiological control of stomatal opening by which plants adjust for water availability has been extensively ***,the impact of water availability on stomatal development has not received as much attention,especially for amphistomatic ***,the acclimation of stomatal development in basil(Ocimum basilicum L.)leaves was *** results show that leaves developed under water-deficit conditions possess higher stomatal densities and decreased stomatal length for both the adaxial and abaxial leaf *** the stomatal developmental reaction to water deficit was similar for the two leaf surfaces,it was proven that adaxial stomata are more sensitive to water stress than abaxial stomata,with more closed adaxial stomata under water-deficit ***,plants with leaves containing smaller stomata at higher densities possessed a higher water use *** findings highlight the importance of stomatal development as a tool for long-term acclimation to limit water loss,with minimal reduction in biomass *** highlights the central role that stomata play in both the short(opening)and long-term(development)reaction of plants to water availability,making them key tools for efficient resource use and anticipation of future environmental changes.

This research explores the opportunities offered for the creation of a green city on the recently secured Bagmati riverbanks in Kathmandu,which is subject to rapid inward migration from landless rural *** research asks what architectural theory and practice can contribute to this setting to support the fit between emergent bottom-up initiatives and topdown city *** this end,it deepens and extends loose fit theory,research methods,and reflective practices to investigate latent possibilities,assemble a narrative of embedded change,and create spatial imaginaries of topographical change on the Bagmati ***,it argues that architectural theory and practice can play a vital role in integrating migrants into civic institutions and helping generate a highly green city by making the relation-ships between setting and occupant explicit,stimulating and representing alternative imaginaries,and framing a civic discourse.

Let a and b be positive integers, with a not perfect square and b > 1. Recently, He, Togband Walsh proved that the Diophantine equation x2-a((bk-1)/(b-1))2=1 has at most three solutions in positive integers. Moreover, they showed that if max{a,b} > 4.76·1051, then there are at most two positive integer solutions (x,k). In this paper, we sharpen their result by proving that this equation always has at most two solutions.

The carcinogenic mechanism proposed considers that stem cells committed to repair tissues and differentiated cells, acquire different metabolic properties, if there is an associated GABA deficiency suppressing a control system of the endocrine pancreas. This control system mediated by GABA, released with insulin, normally turns off glucagon and somatostatin release when insulin is released. A consequence of the GABA deficiency in pancreas and adrenals is a hybrid insulin-glucagon-somatostatin message, received by new mitotic stem cells displaying then a hybrid metabolic rewiring. This gives them a selective metabolic advantage over differentiated cells that become insulin resistant and only receive the glucagon- somatostatin part of the hormonal message. Indeed, their insulin receptors are desensitized by the persistent leakage of insulin resulting from the GABA deficiency that fails to close the insulin release mechanism. Thus differentiated cells are simply rewired to be plundered by stem cells. The metabolic advantage gained by stem cells blocks their own differentiation and maintains their mitotic capacity. Inevitable mutations of mitotic cells follow, the immune system is unable to eliminate a geometrically increasing number of altered stem cells, a selection of the most aggressive but metabolically successful population takes place when cancer is declared.

Various postulations on the relationship between urban morphology and air quality are *** fails to establish the strength of the contributions of each morphological parameter in the spatial distribution of the air *** is this gap in knowledge that this study sought to fill by modelling the correlation existing between the urban morphological variables of development density,land uses,biomass index and air quality values of Nairobi *** 30 development zones of the city constituted the target population,IKONOS satellite imagery of the city for the year 2015 was utilised in establishing the development densities,land uses and biomass *** parameters were transformed into numerical surrogates ranging from 1 to 10 with lower values accorded to zones with low biomass index,the highest development density,noxious land uses,high gaseous concentrations and ***’s correlation coefficients(r),coefficients of determination(R),t-tests and the Analysis of Variance(F-tests)with levels of significance being 95%were used to determine the strengths,significances and consistencies of the established *** study established that development density is the most significant morphological variable influencing the distribution of air *** is followed by biomass index and to a weaker extent,land uses.

Objective: To evidence the ability of ethanol fruit extract from Detarium microcarpum(D. microcarpum) to preserve DNA integrity against oxidative genomic ***: Ethanol extract from D. microcarpum fruit pulp was analyzed for its antioxidant capacity using ferric reducing antioxidant power, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl,2,20-azinobis-3-ethyl-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonate, superoxide anion, deoxyribose degradation and lipid peroxidation models. The genoprotective activity was assessed ex vivo by comet assay, on liver cells of NMRI female mice using cyclophosphamide(CP) as genotoxic ***: Ethanol extract from D. microcarpum fruit pulp exhibited interesting antioxidant activity in 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl, deoxyribose degradation and lipid peroxidation assays. The extract did not present any genotoxic effect but protected DNA against CP-induced damages with a dose-dependent manner. The genoprotective effect observed was related to the antioxidant molecules of the fruit that scavenged the hydroxyl radical(generated by the metabolism of CP) as well as the peroxyl and alkoxyl radicals issued from lipid peroxidation. Other mechanisms such as inactivation of CP metabolism to genotoxic end products, induction of the expression of antioxidant and DNA repair enzymes have been ***: Our results suggest that the wild edible fruit from D. microcarpum could be beneficial on consumer's health by its antioxidant and genoprotective effects, particularly during chemotherapies exhibiting genotoxic effects like CP in cancer treatment.

Vehicle replacement time depends mainly on the rate of *** has been found to be a significant factor of deterioration and cost *** examined the impact of overloading on vehicle deterioration and its total costs and hence the replacement time of vehicle fleets in *** research design was a mixture of field survey and a longitudinal study of vehicle fleets of three transport companies in Benin City,*** population of the study consisted of all interstate transport companies in Benin ***-stage sampling was used to select the three transport companies *** overloading factor was developed and used to estimate the cost of operating overloaded *** data were analysed using discrete dynamic programming,which was implemented using computer software developed through Pascal *** indicate that overloading significantly precipitates vehicle deterioration,increases operating and total cost and thus affects replacement time of vehicles.
