In scenarios of climatic change when increased global temperatures can be expected,it is essential to search for technologies that favor sapling survival and growth after planting and increase yield in the ***-based particle films(KBPF)have been applied as barriers against the deleterious effects of high levels of solar *** objective of the present study was to assess the effects of applying purified calcined kaolin-based particle film to young eucalyptus *** treatments were carried out:0%(just water),3%,5%,7%,and 10%calcined kaolin applied to the adaxial part of the leaves.A complete randomized block design was used with five treatments and ten *** plants were assessed for height,diameter at ground level,gas exchanges(net photosynthetic CO_(2) assimilation,stomatal conductance and transpiration),instantaneous(WUE)and intrinsic water use efficiency(IWUE),chlorophyll a fluorescence(maximum quantum yield of photosystem II(PSII)(Fv/Fm),concentration of active reaction centers in relation to the quantity of photons absorbed(RC/ABS)and the maximum ratio of quantum yields of photochemical and concurrent non-photochemical processes in PSII(Fv/F0),SPAD reading and leaf *** 3%KBPF concentration showed the best responses in biometric assessments 80 days after planting(daP)and were corroborated by the responses of the leaf,stem and shoot dry matter production as a *** leaf ontogeny assessments showed positive responses following KBPF application when considering leaf development,with 7%KBPF concentration resulting in the highest mean *** mean specific leaf mass had negative response to high KBPF *** 60 daP,the gas exchange variables during both assessment periods declined with an increase in KBPF *** differences as a result of KBPF applications were found only at the start of the assessments(34 daP)for both WUE and for ***‘greenness’(SPAD reading)at 47 days showed a quadratic

This study investigates the influence of waste characteristics,especially zeta potential,on the properties of cement pastes and *** focus is to evaluate the impact of the zeta potential of cement particles and waste materials on the sedimentation speed,rheology,and hardening time of stabilized cement *** Cement II F 40,retarder additive,silica,and fly ash were used in the *** pastes were prepared,and during the stabilization period,their rheological properties and pH were *** zeta potential and sedimentation speed of the cement and waste particles were measured at the pH that the pastes presented during the entire stabilization *** the stabilization period,the pastes were subjected to the hardening time *** zeta potential analyses revealed diverse values for the different powder types,with the cement particles exhibiting a zeta potential of−3.0 mV,the silica particles exhibiting−10.5 mV,and the fly ash particles exhibiting−20.3 *** influence of the high zeta potential modulus was observed on the sedimentation speed,with the solution containing fly ash exhibiting a speed of 40.01μm/s,whereas the solution containing only cement exhibited a speed of 99.38μm/*** the pastes,the results indicate that the presence of fly ash particles with a significantly negative zeta potential led to a 16%reduction in hardening time compared to particles with a lower modulus of zeta *** tests showed that the inclusion of fly ash particles prevented the formation of *** the zeta potential influenced agglomerate formation and hardening time,it was found to have no effect on yield stress or viscosity.

Automatic detection and evaluation of sugarcane planting rows in aerial images

Sugarcane planting is an important and growing activity in ***,several techniques have been developed over the years to maximize crop productivity and profit,amongst them,processing of sugarcane field *** this sense,this research aims to identify and analyze crop rows and measure their gaps from aerial images of sugarcane *** this,a small Remotely Piloted Aircraft captured the images,generating orthomosaics of the areas for ***,each orthomosaic is classified with the K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm to segment regions of *** row orientation is estimated using the RGB gradient *** operations and computational geometry models are then used to detect and map rows and gaps along the planting row *** evaluate the results,crop rows are mapped and compared to manually taken *** technique obtained an error smaller than 2%when compared to gap length in crop rows from an orthomosaic with the area of 8.05 ha(ha).The proposed approach can map the positioning of the automatically generated row segments appropriately onto manually created ***,our method also achieved similar results when confronted with a manual technique for differing growth stages(40 and 80 days after harvest)of the sugarcane *** proposed method presents a great potential to be adopted in sugarcane planting monitoring。

Historical relationships of areas of endemism of the Brazilian Atlantic rain forest： a cladistic biogeographic analysis of harvestman taxa （Arachnida： Opiliones）

Based on a cladistic biogeographic analysis of 6 species-level phylogenies of harvestman taxa, wesearched for congruence in the historical relationships of 12 areas of endemism of the BrazilianAtlantic Rain Forest. We constructed general area cladograms using Primary Brooks ParsimonyAnaJysis （BPA）, BPA of nodes, and paralogy-free subtree analysis. These analyses resulted in 6general area cladograms, that allow to infer a general pattern of the relationships among areas ofendemism from the Brazilian Atlantic Rain Forest. Northern areas resulted related basally showingmain disjunctions at the Doce River Valley and Todos os Santos Bay/S^o Francisco River *** remaining areas of endemism were included in a southern and a southeastern block, sepa-rated by the Ribeira do Iguape Valley. Incongruence Length Differences tests showed no significantincongruence among the resulting cladograms and other matrix partitions. We concluded that tec-tonism and ancient marine transgressions were the probable processes responsible for the maindisjunctions, whereas Neogene refugia seem to have caused the more recent disjunctions. Thegeneral pattern and redundancy in area relationships suggest a model of main reiterative barriersin diversification at multiple times for the evolution of the Atlantic Rain Forest. The renewal of cla-distic biogeography and the search for common biogeographic patterns are discussed.

Diabetes is a lifelong disease characterized by glucose metabolic imbalance,in which low insulin levels or impaired insulin signaling lead to hyperglycemic *** 20 years of diabetes progression,95%of patients will have diabetic retinopathy,the leading cause of visual defects in working-age people *** diabetes is considered a microvascular disease,recent studies have shown that neurodegeneration precedes vascular changes within the diabetic visual system,albeit its mechanisms are still under *** and oxidative stress are intrinsically related phenomena,since macrophage/microglia and astrocytes are the main sources of reactive oxygen species during central nervous system chronic degenerative diseases,and both pathological processes are increased in the visual system during *** present review will focus on recent findings of the contribution of oxidative stress derived from neuroinflammation in the early neurodegenerative aspects of the diabetic visual system and their relationship with galectin-3.

In this editorial,we comment on an article by Tang et al published in the World Journal of *** and diabetes are two pathological situations that are intrinsically *** lifestyle changes nor pharmacological treatments have achieved diabetes *** this perspective,bariatric surgery has been widely used as an approach for weight loss in obese patients and as a strategy to promote metabolic *** main effects of bariatric surgery involve direct action in improving cardiovascular function and endothelial function and reducing insulin resistance,leading to diabetes remission in the short term following *** this context,it has been observed that hormones from the gastrointestinal tract and endothelium play a prominent role in this *** reversing endothelial dysfunction,it is possible to balance pro-inflammatory cytokine production,improving the availability of nitric oxide and inhibiting vascular oxidative ***,it can be considered an efficient anti-inflammatory strategy,alleviating interferon-gamma-mediated adipose tissue *** current challenge must be to unravel the pathophysiological mechanisms and potential targets for treating metabolic diseases.

The three main components of the media layer of the aorta are elastic fibers,collagen fibers and smooth muscle cells(SMC).[1]This layer’s elastic properties are major determinants of its biomechanics in health and disease states.[2,3]Age-related changes in such elastic properties are associated with altered hemodynamic parameters,such as systolic hypertension,[4,5]and end-organ damage,[6,7]and are thought to result from changes of its main components.

Effectiveness and safety of opicapone in Parkinson’s disease patients with motor fluctuations: the OPTIPARK open-label study

Background:The efficacy and safety of opicapone,a once-daily catechol-O-methyltransferase inhibitor,have been established in two large randomized,placebo-controlled,multinational pivotal ***,clinical evidence from routine practice is needed to complement the data from the pivotal ***:OPTIPARK(NCT02847442)was a prospective,open-label,single-arm trial conducted in Germany and the UK under clinical practice *** with Parkinson’s disease and motor fluctuations were treated with opicapone 50 mg for 3(Germany)or 6(UK)months in addition to their current levodopa and other antiparkinsonian *** primary endpoint was the Clinician’s Global Impression of Change(CGI-C)after 3 *** assessments included Patient Global Impressions of Change(PGI-C),the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS),Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire(PDQ-8),and the Non-Motor Symptoms Scale(NMSS).Safety assessments included evaluation of treatment-emergent adverse events(TEAEs)and serious adverse events(SAEs).Results:Of the 506 patients enrolled,495(97.8%)took at least one dose of *** these,393(79.4%)patients completed 3 months of ***,71.3 and 76.9%of patients experienced any improvement on CGI-C and PGI-C after 3 months,respectively(full analysis set).At 6 months,for UK subgroup only(n=95),85.3%of patients were judged by investigators as improved since commencing *** scores at 3 months showed statistically significant improvements in activities of daily living during OFF(mean±SD change from baseline:?3.0±4.6,p<0.0001)and motor scores during ON(?4.6±8.1,p<0.0001).The mean±SD improvements of?3.4±12.8 points for PDQ-8 and-6.8±19.7 points for NMSS were statistically significant versus baseline(both p<0.0001).Most of TEAEs(94.8%of events)were of mild or moderate *** considered to be at least possibly related to opicapone were reported for 45.1%of patients,with dyskinesia(11.5%)and dry mouth(6.5%)being
