Carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (CFRP) have excellent specific strength and rigidity, which has made them a popular material for lightweight construction. The growing demand for fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) leads to the problem of the sustainable handling of FRP at the end of their life cycle. The aim of the research project was to gain knowledge about the shredding of FRP concerning the optimal machine and process design of the shredding process and the possible formation of harmful, inhalable dust fractions and WHO fibers. Toxicity should be investigated at the cellular level. The investigated shredding parameters influence the amount and length of fiber dust produced, both when shredding with a cutting mill and when shredding with a single-shaft shredder. In all investigations, an increasing rotational speed leads to an increase in the fiber dust mass or the fiber concentration. The proportion of short, respirable fibers increases, but raising the speed does not lead to a further, significant shortening of the fibers. A reduction in feedstock size leads to a slightly reduced mass of fiber dust in the ground material. A reduction in the screen size also leads to an increase in fiber dust mass and concentration. There was no recognizable cytotoxicity in the relevant concentration range up to 500 μg/cm2 and no significant induction of cell migration. This indicates minor flammable effects of the dust formed after inhalation. The biological data indicate that the WHO fibers produced by shredding are only a minor health hazard. Formally, the detected carbon fiber (CF) fragments meet the fiber definition of the legislator. However, carbon fibers currently have no specific limit value.

The BL Lac Object PKS 0537-441: A Lens or Being Lensed?

We present and discuss deep high resolution images taken with the ESO NTT as well as spectra taken with the ESO VLT in the field of the BL Lac object PKS 0537 441. We could neither detect the host galaxy nor a galaxy along the line of sight to the BL Lac as claimed from previous observations. We found 4 nearby companion galaxies which could be a splitted and magnified image of a distant background galaxy. Our VLT spectra, however, rule out this possibility. All 4 companions have similar redshifts as the BL Lac and may (at least in part) trigger the enormous activity in this source. PKS 0537 441 might be located in a galaxy cluster as rich as Abell 1. Alternatively, the BL Lac could also be located in the outskirts of a galaxy cluster or even be projected on a large scale structure as indicated by spectra of 30 galaxies in the field. Either lensing hypothesis (lens or being lensed) is considerably weakened by our observations.

Background:Patency of the coronary arteries is an issue after reports of sudden cardiac death in patients with transposition of the great arteries(TGA)operated with arterial switch(ASO).Recent studies give rise to concern regarding the use of ionising radiation in congenital heart disease,and assessment of the coronary arteries with coronary MR angiography(CMRA)might be an attractive non-invasive,non-ionising imaging alternative in these ***,the use of 3.0T CMRA should improve the visualisation of the coronary *** objective of this study was to assess feasibility of 3.0T CMRA at the coronary artery origins by comparing image quality with non-contrast CMRA in ASO TGA patients to healthy age-matched controls,and by comparing image quality with non-contrast CMRA to contrast enhanced CMRA in the patient *** and methods:Twelve patients,9-15 years(mean 11.9 years,standard deviation 1.5 years),and 12 age-matched controls(mean 12.7 years,standard deviation 1.7 years)were examined with 3D balanced steady-state free precession(SSFP).Nine of twelve patients had Gadolinium-enhanced fast low-angle shot(Gd-FLASH)performed after *** quality at the coronary artery origins was evaluated subjectively with a 10 cm figurative visual analogue scale(fVAS)and objectively by signal-to-noise and contrast-to-noise ratio(SNR,CNR).Results:All,but one,coronary artery origins were *** significant difference in image quality scores was found between patients and controls with SSFP(mean values 6.5 cm—9.1 cm in patients and 7.0 cm—8.0 cm in controls,p-values>0.1).With SSFP,intra-observer fVAS mean score was 6.7 cm—8.6 cm and with Gd-FLASH 7.7 cm—8.7 *** was higher with Gd-FLASH(p<0.03).Intra-observer agreement index(AI)with SSFP was moderate-to-good(0.43–0.71)and with Gd-FLASH good(0.64–0.79)in all ***-observer AI was good in the left main stem(LMS)with SSFP(0.65).With Gd-FLASH inter-observer AI was good in LMS(0.78)and moderate(0

Bismuth Toxicity: A Rare Cause of Neurologic Dysfunction

Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol?) and other bismuth-containing compounds have been used for many years to treat gastroenterological complaints. Although safe in the majority of patients, bismuth can cause a well-described toxic state marked by progressive neurological decline. Features of bismuth toxicity include confusion, postural instability, myoclonus, and problems with language. This presentation can masquerade as other causes of progressive neurologic dysfunction including Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease (CJD), Hashimoto’s Encephalopathy, and others. In this case study, we present a patient who was using bismuth salicylate in toxic quantities to help control diarrhea. On initial presentation, several diagnoses were entertained before bismuth levels were obtained. This case study highlights the fact that bismuth toxicity, while rare, should be considered in a patient with progressive neurological decline. Also, we hope this case reminds physicians of a severe consequence of a common, readily available medication.

随着全球化的进程,国际贸易的重要性在持续增长。国际贸易在上世纪中叶开始了迅速的进步,仅仅在2000年至2010年,国际贸易就经历了高达300%的巨大增长率。在2018年,实体贸易价值为19.48万亿美元,服务贸易价值为5.8万亿美元。这些供应链遍布了全球各地,对于世界上各个国家和人民来说都拥有里程碑式的重要性:国际贸易主导了经济的增长,提高了生产力,增加了收入,并且带来了更多的机遇。全球贸易是由众多拥有多样性的参与者而组成的庞统协作体系。制造商采购材料并将它们装配为成品;分销商和批发商为零售商和其他公司提供产品;零售商将产品销售给终端客户;邮政服务在国内运送贸易商品的同时也提供跨境运输服务;货运代理公司整合货运,帮助企业们在复杂的国际物流网络中进行导航;国际承运人经营集装箱船、飞机、火车和卡车以达到进行贸易产品长途运输的目的;海关代理公司帮助企业和个体与境外海关权力机构交流,以及帮助他们在不熟悉的环境下进行有效沟通;进出口商跨越国界销售产品,将各个国家的国内市场联系起来而最终形成一个统一的国际市场;银行和保险公司在企业之间建立信任,为企业提供资本以及放出贷款;政府机构监管货物流动情况,同时执行安全标准。这份非详尽的清单仅仅描绘出国际贸易的复杂性。国际贸易是集企业、国家、政府、语言等等的一个杂乱体系。因此,国际贸易格局是零散、混乱、低效,缺乏标准化的。由一个例子可见,IBM公司和Maersk航运集团已经发现,从蒙巴萨到鹿特丹的鲜花和牛油果的单一装运需要在30个不同组织之间交换大约200条信息。这一条装运线产生了一堆高度大约为25厘米的纸质文件。另一批从中欧运往美国的货物由于协调问题而延迟了四周。除此之外,国际贸易中每天都面临着1400亿美元的支付纠纷,对于一张普通的发票,一家公司平均需要等待42天才能收到款项。流程和操作成本预计已上升至总运输成本的20%。显而易见,国际贸易中的大多数效率低下问题是由于该行业没有充分利用现代信息技术的潜力而造成的。信息技术目前最令人兴奋的发展之一是所谓的区块链技术。这项技术可以追溯到2008年Satoshi Nakamoto的比特币白皮书文件。在此文件中,Nakamoto提出了一个分布式系统的概念,其中分布式服务器保存一个共享的、公共的交易账本。一系列交易被存储到一个区块中,每个区块关联至其前一个区块的哈希值。因此,一系列的区块形成了一个区块链。由于交易块引用哈希值,所以被关联的交易块不能够在没有破坏块之间的连接的情况下被操控。因此,区块链及其分布式账本是不可改变的,它为所有交易生成完全透明和完整审计跟踪。此外,区块链技术还能够实现公司或个体之间的直接通信;该技术具有容错性,因为它是分散的,且没有任何单点故障。最终,因为没有任何公司或个体有权单方面操纵或修改账本,所以区块链技术被认为是安全的。区块链技术有望在解决上述提出的所有问题例如国际贸易效率低下问题的同时,并且节约成本。不可否认的是,国际贸易必须深入了解区块链技术及其对国际贸易的影响。区块链技术是互联网出现后的下一次技术革命?还是我们正在讨论一个即将不存在的流行语技术?不幸的是,关于区块链技术对国际贸易的影响的参考文献较少。为了弥补这一研究空白,本文考察了区块链技术对国际贸易的影响。为了考察研究主题,并回答研究主题所阐述的问题,本文同时回答了一系列次要问题。首先,本文考量了区块链技术对国际贸易及其参与者的影响程度。作者研究了区块链技术是一种游戏规则的改变者,还是一种对国际贸易没有重大影响的边缘技术。为了回答这个问题,本文还评估了区块链技术的整体重要性。区块链技术对国际贸易的不同参与者产生不同程度的影响。为了明确区块链技术对不同参与者例如物流供应商或商户的影响,本文分别分析了所有相关类型的参与者。针对每一类参与者,分析了区块链技术的现状、目前存在的问题以及可能的解决方案。本文旨在回答区块链技术对国际贸易及其个体参与者带来的相关利益和面临的威胁,以及区块链技术将如何重塑国际贸易格局。本文根据分析和讨论实例过程,由此进行了定性的文献研究。本文分别从技术基础、文献综述、现有技术分析、细节回顾来分析了区块链技术对于国际贸易中个体参与者的影响,并且用一个实用案例和结论进行了详细的综述。对于技术基础部分,本文将讨论三个主题。首先,了解区块链技术的先决条件。先决条件包括哈希函数、梅克尔树、非对称密钥加密和博弈论。其次,区块链的总体架构。本节介绍了加密资产、交易、区块、区块链的形成和共识机制。最后,介绍区块链技术和相关分布式账本的重要实现:比特币是历史上第一种区块链,是经典的公共区块链和加密货币的实例;以太坊是第一种引入智能合约、代币和私有性的区块链;超账本结构(Hyperledger Fabric)是一种行业许可的区块链,具有身份管理、身份验证、通信渠道、侧
