Introduction: To investigate the inter-observer and inter-modality.variabilities of two imaging guided equip.ents—cone-beam comp.ted tomograp.y.(CBCT) and ultrasound (US) in kidney.stereotactic body.radiotherap.0} Methods: A renal metastasis case imp.anted with three gold anchor fiducial markers was firstly.scanned by.US to acquire a 3-dimension US image and followed by.4-dimension CBCT in every.fraction. Seven observers retrosp.ctively.registered the p.e-treatment images with the corresp.nding reference images based on the gold markers. Registration uncertainty.of the observers between two imaging modalities was evaluated. Results: The uncertainties over whole treatment course in CBCT were 0.88 mm, 1.94 mm and 0.86 mm in lateral, longitudinal and vertical directions resp.ctively.while 0.8 mm, 0.97 mm and 1.36 mm were found in US. Conclusion: The greatest uncertainty.was found in longitudinal direction in CBCT due to the fact that the resp.ration motion is the most rigorous in cranial-caudal direction. In US, since the p.obe was hold almost in up.ight p.sition, the strong echo in vertical direction was attributed to the greatest uncertainty.for such direction.

This is the first detailed characterization of the airborne bacterial p.ofiles in indoor environments. Two restaurants were selected for this study. Fifteen genera of bacteria were isolated from each restaurant and identified by.three different bacterial identification sy.tems including MIDI, Biolog and Ribop.inter. The dominant bacteria of both restaurants were Gram-p.sitive bacteria in which Micrococcus and Bacillus sp.cies were the most abundant. Most bacteria identified were rep.esentative sp.cies of skin and resp.ratory.tract of human, and soil. Although the bacterial levels in these two restaurants were below the limit of the Hong Kong Indoor Air Quality.Objective （HKIAQO） Level 1 standard （i.e., 〈 500 cfu/m^3）, the majority.of these bacteria were op.ortunistic p.thogens. These results suggested that the identity.of airborne bacteria should also be included in the IAQ to ensure there is a safety.guideline for the p.blic.

The aim of this study.was to p.rform comp.tational fluid dy.amics (CFD) simulations on the airflows at the Hong Kong International Airp.rt (HKIA). In p.rticular, the effects of hangar buildings and terrain were studied to exp.ore the effects of turbulence on fly.ng aircraft, esp.cially.during landing. The CFD simulation showed that significant differences in wind sp.eds may.occur between the north and the south runway. on the western p.rt of the HKIA under ty.hoon conditions with a strong north to northwesterly.wind. Simulation also showed that the hanger buildings between the two runway. on the western side and the nearby.terrain could be causing the observed difference in the wind sp.eds. The results also indicated that these obstacles could cause significant wind sp.ed variations at the western end of the south runway. This may.affect the op.ration of landing aircraft. The CFD results for a ty.ical ty.hoon case were analy.ed and found to match the wind data recorded by.an aircraft landing that day.

Three Bi-dop.d vanady. p.0}op.osp.ate cataly.ts were p.ep.red via dihy.rate route （Vp. method）, which consisted of different p.ep.ration methods including mechanosy.thesis, mechanochemical treatment, and the conventional reflux method. The cataly.ts p.oduced by.the above three methods were characterized by.x-ray.diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscop.0}（SEM）, and temp.rature p.ogrammed reduction （Tp.）. Cataly.ic evaluation for the p.rtial oxidation of n-butane to maleic anhy.ride （MA） was also carried out. The XRD p.tterns of all the Bi-dop.d cataly.ts showed the main p.aks of p.0}op.osp.ate p.ase. Lower intensity.p.aks were observed for the mechanochemically.treated Bi-dop.d cataly.t （Vp.BiMill） with two additional small p.aks corresp.nding to the p.esence of a small amount of V5＋ p.ase. The Tp. p.ofiles showed that the highest amount of active oxy.en sp.cies, i.e, V4＋–O- p.ir, resp.nsible for n-butane activation, was removed from Vp.BiMill. Furthermore, from the cataly.ic test results, the grap. of selectivity.to MA as a function of the conversion of n-butane demonstrated that Vp.BiMill was the most selective cataly.t. This suggests that the mechanochemical treatment of vanadium p.osp.ate cataly.t （Vp.BiMill） is a p.tential method to imp.ove the cataly.ic p.op.rties for the p.rtial oxidation of n-butane to maleic anhy.ride.

Of the three mutually.coup.ed fundamental p.ocesses （shearing, comp.essing, and thermal） in a general fluid motion, only.the general formulation for the comp.ess- ing p.ocess and a subp.ocess of it, the subject of aeroacous- tics, as well as their p.y.ical coup.ing with shearing and thermal p.ocesses, have so far not reached a consensus. This situation has caused difficulties for various in-dep.h comp.ex multip.ocess flow diagnosis, op.imal configuration design, and flow/noise control. As the first step.toward the desired formulation in fully.nonlinear regime, this p.p.r emp.oy. the op.rator factorization method to revisit the analy.ic linear theories of the fundamental p.ocesses and their decomp.si- tion, esp.cially.the further sp.itting of comp.essing p.ocess into acoustic and entrop.0}modes, develop.d in 1940s-1980s. The flow treated here is small disturbances of a comp.essible, viscous, and heat-conducting p.ly.rop.c gas in an unbounded domain with arbitrary.source of mass, external body.force, and heat addition. p.evious results are thereby.revised and extended to a comp.ete and unified theory. The theory.p.o- vides a necessary.basis and valuable guidance for develop.ng corresp.nding nonlinear theory.by.clarify.ng certain basic issues, such as the p.op.r choice of characteristic variables of comp.essing p.ocess and the feature of their governing equations.

We rep.rt the design and fabrication of a novel and fully.integrated p.ly.er-based centrifugal microfluidic disc for rap.d automatic allergens detection. All essential step. for a single test including flow valving, sequencing, mixing, sep.ration, extraction, and sedimentation for final detection are automatically.conducted within 30 min on a centrifugal microfluidic disc. Our design features a sip.on-based valving and analy.e extraction structure where the released analy.e is sep.rated and subsequently.extracted by.a sip.on valve into the detection chamber. Incorp.rating the sip.on valve and a series of cap.llary.valves, we realize automated detection of allergic reaction on a centrifugal microfluidic disc.

A straight, non-sp.rulating, Gram-variable bacillus (HKU24T) was recovered from the blood culture of a p.tient with metastatic breast carcinoma. After rep.ated subculturing in BACTEC p.us Anaerobic/F blood culture broth, HKU24T grew on brucella agar as non-hemoly.ic, p.np.int colonies after 96 h of incubation at 37 °C in an anaerobic environment and aerobic environment with 5% CO2. Growth was enhanced with a streak of Stap.y.ococcus aureus. HKU24T was non-motile and catalase-negative, but p.sitive for alkaline p.osp.atase, β-glucosidase, and α-glucosidase. It hy.roly.ed p.eny.p.osp.onate and reduced resazurin. 16S rRNA, groEL, gy.B, recA, and rp.B sequencing showed that HKU24T occup.es a distinct p.y.ogenetic p.sition among the Lep.otrichia sp.cies, being most closely.related to Lep.otrichia trevisanii. Using HKU24T groEL, gy.B, recA, and rp.B gene-sp.cific p.imers, fragments of these genes were amp.ified from one of 20 oral sp.cimens. Based on p.enoty.ic and genoty.ic characteristics, we p.op.se a new sp.cies, Lep.otrichia hongkongensis sp. nov., to describe this bacterium.

Effects of binder strength and aggregate size on the comp.essive strength and void ratio of p.rous concrete

To test the influence of binder strength, p.rous concretes with 4 binder strengths between 30.0-135.0 Mp. and 5 void ratios between 15%-35% were tested. The results indicated that for the same aggregate, the rates of strength reduction due to the increases in void ratio were the same for binders with different strengths. To study.the influence of aggregate size, 3 single size aggregates with nominal sizes of 5.0, 13.0 and 20.0 mm （Nos. 7, 6 and 5 according to JIS A 5001） were used to make p.rous concrete. The strengths of p.rous concrete are found to be dep.ndent on aggregate size. The rate of strength reduction of p.rous concrete with small aggregate size is found to be higher than that with larger aggregate size. At the same void ratio, the strength of p.rous concrete with large aggregate is larger than that with small aggregate. The general equations for p.rous concrete are related to comp.essive strength and void ratio for different binder strengths and aggregate sizes.
