A machine learning approach to tracking crustal thickness variations in the eastern North China Craton

The variation of crustal thickness is a critical index to reveal how the continental crust evolved over its four billion ***,ratios of whole-rock trace elements,such as Sr/Y,(La/Yb)n and Ce/Y,are used to characterize crustal ***,sometimes confusing results are obtained since there is no enough filtered ***,a state-of-the-art approach,based on a machine-learning algorithm,is proposed to predict crustal thickness using global major-and trace-element geochemical data of intermediate arc rocks and intraplate basalts,and their corresponding crustal *** the validation processes,the root-mean-square error(RMSE)and the coefficient of determination(R2)score were used to evaluate the performance of the machine learning algorithm based on the learning dataset which has never been used during the training *** results demonstrate that the machine learning algorithm is more reliable in predicting crustal thickness than the conventional *** trained model predicts that the crustal thickness of the eastern North China Craton(ENCC)was-45 km from the Late Triassic to the Early Cretaceous,but-35 km from the Early Cretaceous,which corresponds to the paleo-elevation of 3.0±1.5 km at Early Mesozoic,and decease to the present-day elevation in the *** estimates are generally consistent with the previous studies on xenoliths from the lower crust and on the paleoenvironment of the coastal mountain of the ENCC,which indicates that the lower crust of the ENCC was delaminated abruptly at the Early Cretaceous.

Factors Influencing Local Visitors’Willingness to Pay an Entrance Fee of the East Lake,Wuhan,China

The infrastructure of East Lake has undergone a gradual process of degeneration,necessitating the allocation of adequate financial resources to ensure the preservation and sustenance of its ecological ***,insufficient funds for conservation and management pose a problem for the management of Urban East ***,the research aimed to(1)identify the local visitor’s satisfaction level with East Lake’s facilities and environmental quality;(2)determine the visitors’perception of the conservation and management aspect of East Lake;(3)identify factors influencing local visitors’willingness to pay an entrance fee to East Lake,and(4)estimate an appropriate entrance fee for East *** the Contingent Valuation Method,visitors'willingness to pay was *** accumulation of 449 samples was based on convenience *** results indicated that visitor satisfaction and attitude were both *** addition,respondents had a good perception on East ***,income,and education level were factors that substantially affected visitors’willingness to pay;however,only the visitor variable had a positive *** estimated entrance fee was 2 USD per individual per *** research’s findings provided significant policy and recommendations;they would serve as a baseline for the management to impose an entrance fee in East Lake.

Hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence after liver transplant:An Australian single-centre study

Classifying Cognitive Decline in Older Drivers from Behavior on Adverse Roads Detected Using Computer Vision

As drivers age, roadway conditions may become more challenging, particularly when normal aging is coupled with cognitive decline. Driving during lower visibility conditions, such as inclement weather, is especially challenging for older drivers due to their sensitivity to glare and reduced visibility. As a result, older drivers may adjust their behavior during adverse weather. This paper explores the differential impacts of weather on older drivers with cognitive decline compared to older drivers with normal cognitive function. Data were from a naturalistic driving study of older drivers in Omaha, Nebraska. Driver speed and weather data were extracted and the correlation between speed compliance, road weather conditions, and the cognitive/neurological status of the drivers was examined. Speed compliance was used as the surrogate safety measure since driving at lower speeds can indicate that the driver is challenged by roadway or environmental conditions and can therefore indicate a risk. The percentage of time during a trip when drivers were 16.1 kph under the speed limit was modeled as the dependent variable using beta regression. The variables that resulted in the best fit model were mild cognitive impairment (MCI), age group, traffic density, and weather. Results indicated that the youngest group of older drivers (young-old) spent less time driving at impeding speeds and had the least variability compared to the other two age groups. The middle group of older drivers (middle-old) had the highest amount of time driving at impeding speeds and had more variability than young-old drivers. The oldest group of older drivers (old-old) were the most likely to drive at impeding speeds and had the most variability. In general, older drivers were more likely to drive at impeding speeds during peak hours than during non-peak hours.
