Consumer attitudes towards the mountain product label: Implications for mountain development

To protect and promote the originality and authenticity of mountain foodstuffs, the European Union set Regulation No 1151/2012 to create the optional quality term "mountain product". Our research aimed at exploring the attractiveness of the mountain product label for consumers, considering both attitude towards the label itself and purchase intentions. We propose a model to investigate relationships between four latent constructs-mountain attractiveness, mountain food attractiveness, attitude towards the mountain product label, and purchase intention-which have been tested, thus confirming the statistical relevance of the relationships. All 47 items selected for describing the latent constructs are suitable for this purpose. Ridge and LASSO results also show that 17 items of the first three constructs are relevant in explaining purchase intentions. Some contextual variables, such as age, income, geographical origin of consumers, and knowledge of mountain products and mountains for tourism purposes, can positively influence consumers’ behavior. These findings could support the design of mountain development strategies, in particular marketing actions for both the product and the territory.

The present paper shows the development of a strategy for the calculation of the air brake forces of European freight trains. The model is built to upgrade the existing Politecnico di Torino longitudinal train dynamics(LTD) code LTDPoliTo, which was originally unable to account for air brake forces. The proposed model uses an empirical exponential function to calculate the air brake forces during the simulation, while the maximum normal force on the brake friction elements is calculated according to the indication of the vehicle braked weight ***, the model does not require to simulate in detail the fluid dynamics in the brake pipe nor to precisely know the main parameters of the braking system mounted on each vehicle. The model parameters are tuned to minimize the difference between the braking distance computed by the LTDPoliTo code and the value prescribed by the UIC544-1 leaflet in emergency braking operations. Simulations are run for different configurations of freight train compositions including a variable number of Shimmns wagons trailed by an E402B locomotive at the head of the train, as suggested in a reference literature paper. The results of the proposed method are in good agreement with the target braking distances calculated according to the international rules.

Saltwater intrusion along rivers is a complex process controlled by multiple factors and thus fluctuates with a highly nonlinear nature and time-varying *** is challenging to monitor saltwater *** objective of this study was to clarify the spatial-temporal variation of saltwater intrusion and its potential impact on agriculture in the Po River Delta(Italy).2006 was the most severe year of saltwater intrusion in the period we considered.2022 was even worse,but the data are still under *** this study,the Hilbert-Huang transform(HHT)and rescaled range(R/S)were used to identify the multi-time scales and change trends of the salinity and discharge in *** that,the time-dependent intrinsic correlation(TDIC)was used to depict intrinsic relationships between salinity and discharge at different time *** results showed that discharge and salinity exhibited behav-iours of positive long-range correlation during different *** temporal series of salinity and discharge was decomposed into six intrinsic mode functions(IMF)and residuals based on the ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD).The sum of variance contribution rates of IMF1(4 days),IMF2(10 days),and IMF3(12.1 days)of salinity was more than 75%.All measured TDICs have highlighted strong correlations between salinity and ***,we used spatial interpolation tech-niques to map salinity data along *** allowed the investigation of dynamic changes in saltwater intrusion patterns during periods of severe *** show a significant negative correlation between salinity and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI),indicating that the study area's agricultural greening was affected by saltwater intrusion.

Tube hydroforming process is a relative new process f or production of structural parts of low weight and high rigidity. The successfu lness of the process depends largely on the a proper selection of loading path w hich is axial feeding distance as related to the applied internal pressure. Due to the complicated nature of plastic deformation, a optimum loading path which w ill guarantee good hydroformed parts free of winkle and fracture has often to be determined by finite element analysis. In order to save trials and errors, adap tive FEM simulation method has been developed. To effectively apply the adaptive simulation method, we have to know the applicability of the method. In this pap er, a classification of tube hydroforming (THF) processes based on sensitivity to loading parameters has been suggested. Characteristics of the classification have been analyzed in terms of failure mode, dominant loading parameters and th eir working windows. It was discussed that the so called pressure dominant THF p rocess is the most difficult process for both simulation in FEM analysis and pra ctical operation in real manufacturing situation. To effectively find out the op timum loading path for pressure dominant THF process, adaptive FEM simulation st rategies are mostly needed.

In recent times,transformer networks have achieved state-of-the-art performance in a wide range of natural language processing *** we present a workflow based on the fine-tuning of BERT models for different downstream tasks,which results in the automated extraction of structured information from unstructured natural language in scientific *** to existing methods for the automated extraction of structured compound-property relations from similar sources,our workflow does not rely on the definition of intricate grammar ***,it can be adapted to a new task without requiring extensive implementation efforts and *** test our data-extraction workflow by automatically generating a database for Curie temperatures and one for band *** are then compared with manually curated datasets and with those obtained with a state-of-the-art rule-based ***,in order to showcase the practical utility of the automatically extracted data in a material-design workflow,we employ them to construct machine-learning models to predict Curie temperatures and band *** general,we find that,although more noisy,automatically extracted datasets can grow fast in volume and that such volume partially compensates for the inaccuracy in downstream tasks.

A one-dimensional non-intrusive Polynomial Chaos （PC） method is applied in Uncertainty Quantification （UQ） studies for CFD-based ship performances simulations. The uncertainty properties of Expected Value （EV） and Standard Deviation （SD） are evaluated by solving the PC coefficients from a linear system of algebraic equations. The one-dimensional PC with the Legendre polynomials is applied to：（1） stochastic input domain and （2） Cumulative Distribution Function （CDF） image domain, allowing for more flexibility. The PC method is validated with the Monte-Carlo benchmark results in several high-fidelity, CFD-based, ship UQ problems, evaluating the geometrical, operational and environmental uncertainties for the Delft Catamaran 372. Convergence is studied versus PC order P for both EV and SD, showing that high order PC is not necessary for present applications. Comparison is carried out for PC with/without the least square minimization when solving the PC coefficients. The least square minimization, using larger number of CFD samples, is recommended for current test cases. The study shows the potentials of PC method in Robust Design Optimization （RDO） and Reliability-Based Design Optimization （RBDO） of ship hydrodynamic performances.

Liver transplantation for hepatic tumors:a systematic review

Improvements in the medical and pharmacological management of liver transplantation (LT) recipients have led to a better long-term outcome and extension of the indications for this procedure. Liver tumors are relevant to LT; however, the use of LT to treat malignancies remains a debated issue because the high risk of recurrence. In this review we considered LT for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), liver metastases (LM) and other rare tumors. We reviewed the literature, focusing on the past 10 years. The highly selected Milan criteria of LT for HCC (single nodule < 5 cm or up to 3 nodules < 3 cm) have been recently extended by a group from the University of S. Francisco (1 lesion < 6.5 cm or up to 3 lesions < 4.5 cm) with satisfying results in terms of recurrence-free survival and the “up-to-seven criteria”. Moreover, using these criteria, other transplant groups have recently developed downstaging protocols, including surgical or loco-regional treatments of HCC, which have increased the post-operative survival of recipients. CCA may be treated by LT in patients who cannot undergo liver resection because of underlying liver disease or for anatomical technical challenges. A well-defined protocol of chemoirradiation and staging laparotomy before LT has been developed by the Mayo Clinic, which has resulted in long term disease-free survival comparable to other indications. LT for LM has also been investigated by multicenter studies. It offers a real benefit for metastases from neuroendocrine tumors that are well differentiated and when a major extrahepatic resection is not required. If LT is an option in these selected cases, liver metastases from colorectal cancer is still a borderline indication because data concerning the disease-free survival are still lacking.
