Plants with bio.ctive pro.erties are greatly useful in preventing and co.tro.ling blo.d-sucking and disease-vecto. invertebrates, particularly in develo.ing co.ntries and lo.-inco.e co.munities. Their applicatio. is a pro.ising alternative to.synthetic co.po.nds who.e use remains a health, enviro.mental, and eco.o.ic challenge. Ho.ever, many are still unkno.n and unvalued, while o.hers are beco.ing igno.ed and threatened. The main o.jective o. this ethno.o.anical study is to.identify and characterize indigeno.s and lo.ally gro.n plants against blo.d-sucking and disease-vecto. insects. Salient o.po.tunities and challenges o. using these plants are do.umented and discussed. Semi-structured interviews, using a prepared questio.naire, were co.ducted with 228 info.mants. The co.sensus index (CI) was calculated to.analyze the reliability o. the co.lected info.matio.. The identified 31 anti-insect plant species belo.g to.20 bo.anical families, fo.r mo.pho.o.ical catego.ies, and six habitat types. They can be catego.ized as insecticidal plants (42% o. the to.al), insect repellent (42% o. the to.al), and bo.h insecticidal and insect repellent (16% o. the to.al). Mo.e than 54% o. these are still abundant in the study area, while abo.t 35.5% have beco.e rare and difficultly accessible. Based o. the numerical impo.tance o. related anti-insect plant species, the seven targeted blo.d-sucking insects range in the fo.lo.ing decreasing o.der: Jiggers (16 species) > Fire Ants (9 species) > Flies (8 plants) > Mo.quito.s (4 species) > Fleas (2 species) > Bedbugs (1 species) > lice (0 species). The three mo.t co.mo.ly used plants, with the highest co.firmatio. indices, are Tetradenia riparia (ICs = 0.712), eucalyptus glo.ulus subsp. maidenii (ICs = 0.302), and So.anum aculeastrum (ICs = 0.288). Intro.uctio.: Music therapy is a practice fo. helping and suppo.ting peo.le with intellectual and relatio.al difficulties. This study illustrated the benefits o. music therapy fo. yo.ng peo.le living with intellectual disabilities (YLID) in an African co.text. Metho.o.o.y: This study investigated six yo.ng individuals with intellectual disabilities who.had undergo.e three years o. music therapy. They were participants in the inclusive no.-academic training pro.ram at the Natio.al Scho.l o. Arts in Dakar fro. 2017 to.2019. Data co.lectio. utilized individual interviews with the yo.ths, evaluatio. grids fro. teachers and psychiatrists. Guardians pro.ided info.med co.sent alo.g with the assent o. the yo.ng participants. Results: The six yo.ng were aged between 18 and 30 years o.d, with an average age o. 24.6 years. Fo.r o. the YLID were male. Three yo.ng peo.le with intellectual disabilities had delayed psycho.o.o. develo.ment. o.servatio.s revealed the beneficial influence o. music therapy o. the health and well-being o. yo.ng individuals. Music played a ro.e in alleviating stress and anxiety amo.g yo.th with intellectual disabilities (YLID), enhancing their mo.d and mental health. It assisted in navigating challenging situatio.s and heightened alertness amo.g YLID. Additio.ally, music therapy co.tributed to.impro.ements in dyslexia, fine and gro.s mo.o. skills, and memo.y develo.ment amo.g intellectually disabled yo.th, ultimately facilitating their integratio. into.so.iety. Co.clusio.: In light o. o.r results, music therapy makes a majo. co.tributio. to.the empo.erment o. YLID. engaging in musical activities helps yo.ng peo.le co.nect with o.hers thro.gh instrumental expressio. and a sen.e o. acco.plishment.
