We performed the optical spectroscopy of 16 classical be stars in 11 open clusters older than 100 *** is the first spectroscopic study of classical be stars in open clusters older than 100 *** found that the Hαemission strength of most of the stars is less than 40?,in agreement with previous *** analysis further suggests that one of the stars,[KW97]35–12,might be a weak Hαemitter in nature,showing Hαequivalent width of-0.5?.Interestingly,we also found that the newly detected classical be star LSⅢ+4737b might be a component of the possible visual binary system LSⅢ+4737,where the other companion is also a classical be ***,the present study indicates the possible detection of a binary be ***,it is observed that all 16 stars exhibit a lesser number of emission lines compared to classical be stars younger than 100 ***,the spectral type distribution analysis of b-type and classical be stars for the selected clusters points out that the existence of Cbe stars can depend on the spectral type distribution of b-type stars present in these clusters.

Aqueous rechargeable batteries are cost-effective,easy to fabricate,and safe,deliver high energy output,and employ stable water-based electrolytes compared to organicbased lithium-ion batteries(LIbs).Aqueous Zn electrochemistry,specifically,has attracted researchers since the *** Zn is a nearly ideal anode owing to its low cost(ca.2 USD kg^(−1)),existing supply chain,environmental benignity,relative safety,and high stability in water[−0.76 V vs standard hydrogen electrode(SHE)],as compared to Li.^(1−3) The high theoretical capacity(2e−@820 mAh g^(−1))and low polarizability(6×10^(−8)Ωm)further motivate Zn-based battery development,especially for stationary storage.2,4 Alkaline Zn batteries(AZbs)and neutral/mildly acidic Znion batteries(MZIbs)are proposed as rivals to the established Pb-acid and LIbs owing to their competitive theoretical energy densities(∼200−400 Wh L^(−1)).The efficiency of these inexpensive and safe battery technologies is dependent on the cathode type,Zn anode formulation,separator materials,and the electrolyte type(liquid,gel,solid state)and *** AZbs and MZIbs have commonalities,including Zn dendrite formation at high capacity utilization and inherent low voltage(Zn batteryb),unique materials chemistry challenges and operating principles distinguish *** example,in AZbs,the preference is to prevent the crossover of the soluble anode oxidation product[zincate,Zn(OH)_(4)^(2−) anion]through the separator to the cathode,while MZIbs necessitate aversion to intermediate multiphase formation with active cathode material and removal of ambiguity in the reaction route of water-solvated Zn^(2+) cation with the cathode.

Antiplatelet therapy, which reduces platelet activation and aggregation, is the corner stone of treatment for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Clopidogrel is an established oral antiplatelet medication of thienopyridine class, which inhibits blood clots in coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease. Many studies have revealed that high loading dose clopidogrel in patients undergoing PCI. This review article investigates the rationale and role of high loading dose clopidogrel in patients undergoing PCI.

bACKGROUND Neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes mellitus resulting from direct damage by hyperglycemia to the nerves and/or ischemia by microvascular injury to the endoneurial vessels which supply the nerves. Median nerve is one of the peripheral nerves commonly affected in diabetic neuropathy. The median nerve size has been studied in non-Nigerian diabetic populations. In attempt to contribute to existing literature, a study in a Nigerian population is *** To evaluate the cross-sectional area(CSA) of the median nerve using b-mode ultrasonography(USS) and the presence of peripheral neuropathy(PN) in a cohort of adult diabetic *** Demographic and anthropometric data of 85 adult diabetes mellitus(DM) and 85 age-and sex-matched apparently healthy control(HC) subjects were taken. A complete physical examination was performed on all study subjects to determine the presence of PN and modified Michigan Neuropathy Screening Instrument(MNSI) was used to grade its severity. Venous blood was taken from the study subjects for fasting lipid profile(FLP), fasting blood glucose(FbG) and glycated haemoglobin(HbA1 c) while their MN CSA was evaluated at a point 5 cm proximal to(5 cmCATL) and at the carpal tunnel(CATL) by high-resolution bmode USS. Data was analysed using SPSS version *** The mean MN CSA was significantly thicker in DM subjects compared to the HC at 5 cmCATL(P both sides. The presence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN) further increased the MN CSA at the CATL(P but not at 5 cmCATL(P > 0.05). However, the severity of DPN had no additional effect on MN CSA 5 cm proximal to and at the CATL. In this paper, we propose a restricted, adaptive threshold approach for the segmentation of images of the glottis acquired from high speed video-endoscopy (HSV). The approach involves first, identifying a region of interest (ROI) that encloses the vocal-fold motion extent for each image frame as estimated by the different image sequences. This procedure is then followed by threshold segmentation restricted within the identified ROI for each image frame of the original image sequences, or referred to as sub-image sequences. The threshold value is adapted for each sub-image frame and determined by respective minimum gray-scale value that typically corresponds to a spatial location within the glottis. The proposed approach is practical and highly efficient for segmenting a vast amount of image frames since simple threshold method is adapted. Results obtained from the segmentation of representative clinical image sequences are presented to verify the proposed method.

Objective: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) p24 antigen and antibody and herpes simplex virus 2 IgM are seromarkers indicating infection with HIV and herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2), respectively, whereas tumor necrosis factor α is an inflammatory biomarker that can be triggered by infections. Female children of single parents are faced with many socio-economic challenges that make them vulnerable to sexual influences and prone to sexually transmitted infections. The goal of this work was to determine HIV p24 antigen/antibody, HSV-2 IgM and tumor necrosis factor-α plasma levels in adult female children living in single-parent ***: In this case-control observational study, 100 adult female children living with a single parent (50 living with a single mother and 50 living with a single father;age: 18-22 years) and 100 age-matched women living with both parents were recruited to serve as the test and control groups, respectively. All subjects were negative for acid-fast bacilli, plasmodium, hepatitis C virus, and hepatitis b virus. Human tumor necrosis factor α, HSV-2 IgM, antibody to hepatitis C virus, hepatitis b surface antigen and human immunodeficiency virus p24 antigen and antibody (HIV p24 Ag/Ab) levels were determined by ELISA, while the detection of acid-fast bacilli in sputum andPlasmodium in blood was carried out by optical microscopy. This work was carried out in the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in Ondo State that shares boundaries with Edo State.
