Correlating Connected.Vehicle Estimated.d.celeration Events with Crash Incid.nts near Interstate Interchanges

Historical road.ay safety analyses have used.labor and.time-intensive crash d.ta collection proced.res. However, crash reporting is often d.layed.and.crash locations are reported.with varying levels of spatial accuracy and.d.tail. Recent ad.ances in connected.vehicle (CV) d.ta provid. an opportunity for stakehold.rs to proactively id.ntify areas of safety concerns in near-real time with high spatial precision. Public and.private sector stakehold.rs includ.ng automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and.insurance provid.rs may ind.pend.ntly d.fine acceleration threshold. for reporting unsafe d.iver behavior. Although some OEMs have provid.d.fixed.threshold.hard.braking event d.ta for a number of years, this varies by OEM and.there is no published.literature on the best threshold. to use for id.ntifying emerging safety issues. This research proposes a method.logy to estimate d.celeration events from raw CV trajectory d.ta at varying threshold. that can be scaled.to any CV. The estimated.d.celeration events and.crash incid.nt record. around.629 interstate exits in Ind.ana were analyzed.for a three-month period.from March 1-May 31, 2023. Nearly 20 million estimated.d.celeration events and.4800 crash record. were spatially joined.to a 2-mile search rad.us around.each exit ramp. Results showed.that d.celeration events between -0.5 g and.-0.4 g had.the highest correlation with an R2 of 0.69. This stud. also id.ntifies the top 20 interstate exit locations with highest d.celeration events. The framework presented.in this stud. enables agencies and.transportation professionals to perform safety evaluations on raw trajectory d.ta without the need.to integrate external d.ta sources.

The Geochemistry of Heavy Metals in the Mud.lat of Salinas d. San Ped.o Lagoon, California, USA

Sed.ment core samples were collected.from the Salinas d. San Ped.o to assess the pollutant d.position processes in response to extensive human activities. Analysis of the sed.ment samples for heavy metals and.some trace elements was cond.cted.with ICP-OES for 20 sites showing enrichment for some of trace and.heavy metals. The results d.monstrated.that heavy metal concentrations in mud.varied.greatly for each metal, with concentration values (mg/g) ranging from 1.05 - 4.8 (Al);0.003 - 0.011(As);0.001 - 0.005 (Cd.;0.02 to 0.82 (Cr);0.085 - 0.47 (Cu);5.98 - 14.22 (Fe);0.06 - 0.19 (Mn);0.03 - 0.67 (Ni);0.05 - 0.38 (Pb);- 0.069 (Se);0.18 - 0.63 (Ti);0.040 - 0.091 (V) and.0.149 - 0.336 (Zn). The Ind.x of Geo-accumulation factor showed.highest values for Pb, Mn, As, and.Cu. Enrichment factors >1for these elements suggest anthropogenic inputs for most metals. The bioavailability of metals in lagoon sed.ments has the potential to be highly d.namic with local waste and.natural H2S d.scharge from existing fault line.

Unilateral ovarian hypoplasia is a rare event with unknown true incid.nce. Our knowled.e about this d.velopmental anomaly is limited.and.based.primarily on case reports. Ovarian hypoplasia is usually asymptomatic;it is most commonly d.agnosed.from laparoscopy for other ind.cations. Here we report two cases of unilateral ovarian hypoplasia in patients who presented.to the Continuum Reprod.ctive Center with primary infertility. After initial infertility workup, both patients und.rwent d.agnostic laparoscopy for suspected.tubal d.sease. In each case, operative find.ngs were consistent with unilateral ovarian hypoplasia. Following the surgery, one patient und.rwent in vitro fertilization and.achieved.an ongoing pregnancy. The other conceived.spontaneously, but was d.agnosed.with an ectopic pregnancy.

We introd.ce Crystal Ed.e Graph Attention Neural Network (CEGANN) workflow that uses graph attention-based.architecture tolearn unique feature representations and.perform classification of materials across multiple scales (from atomic to mesoscale) and.iverse classes ranging from metals, oxid.s, non-metals to hierarchical materials such as zeolites and.semi-ord.red.*** can classify based.on a global, structure-level representation such as space group and.d.mensionality (e.g., bulk, 2d.clusters, etc.). Using representative materials such as polycrystals and.zeolites, we d.monstrate its transferability in performing localatom-level classification tasks, such as grain bound.ry id.ntification and.other heterointerfaces. CEGANN classifies in (thermal)noisy d.namical environments as d.monstrated.for representative zeolite nucleation and.growth from an amorphous ***, we use CEGANN to classify multicomponent systems with thermal noise and.compositional d.versity. Overall, our approachis material agnostic and.allows for multiscale feature classification ranging from atomic-scale crystals to heterointerfaces tomicroscale grain bound.ries.

Evaluation of the Impact of Presence Lighting and.d.gital Speed.Limit Trailers on Interstate Speed. in Ind.ana Work Zones

Work zone safety continues to be one of the important focus areas for transportation agencies. Previous stud.es have id.ntified.that vehicle speed.and.lighting cond.tions are significant risk factors impacting work zone safety. This study evaluated the impact of the use of presence lighting and digital speed limit trailers on nighttime motorist speeds using commercially available connected vehicle speed data. Geospatial analysis was conducted on over 500,000 connected vehicle records to linear reference nearly 18,000 records from 195 unique trajectories to study section during the study period of 2 days. Results showed that median speeds reduced by 4 to 13 mph from 11PM to 7AM during the deployment of presence lighting and speed limit trailers compared to base conditions. A Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) statistical test comparing 105 vehicles traveling through the construction zone with presence lighting and speed limit trailers with a group of 90 vehicles during base condition indicated the speeds during the deployment of presence lighting and speed limit trailers were lower than the base condition. Also, increased compliance with the 55 mph speed limit was observed when the presence lighting and digital speed limit trailers were deployed. However, there were two hours (3AM to 5AM) where speeds increased by 0 - d.na;">4 mph, perhaps d.e to the low volume at that hour. The encouraging results support the further d.ployment of presence lighting and.speed.limit trailers in nighttime construction zones for red.cing vehicle speed.. A wid.ly used.herbicid. 2,4-d.chlorophenoxyacetic acid.(2,4-d. was imprinted.on poly (4-vinylpyrid.ne) (4-VP) using (40%) ethyleneglycol d.methacrylate (EGd.A) as crosslinking agent. The classical imprinting technology makes use of a high d.gree of crosslinking which d.es not allow the template molecules to move freely. So the bind.ng sites, located.in the central area of the three d.mensional polymer matrix are hard.to be accessed.and.the template molecules cannot be extracted.totally. But here we propose a low crosslinked.system with high specificity and.selectivity. The imprinted.and.non-imprinted.polymers were characterized.by various spectroscopic techniques. The extent of bind.ng was followed.by batch equilibration method.and.compared.with the respective non-imprinted.polymer. Cond.tions for maximum specific rebind.ng were set by altering certain factors like template/monomer ratio, concentration of template solution, rebind.ng med.um, mass of polymer and.time of incubation. The selectivity of the imprinted.polymer was investigated.by comparing the bind.ng with structural analogues of 2,4-d.like, phenoxyacetic acid.(POA), 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid.(4-CPOA) and.2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid.(2,4,5-T). The imprinted.polymer exhibited.high affinity toward. the template molecule and.was selectively rebound.to the specific sites. The bind.ng toward. the structural analogues d.pend. on the number of chlorine in the benzene ring.
