Parkinson’s d.sease (Pd. is a d.bilitating neurological d.sord.r that affects the aged population globally. This study aimed to explore how oral- and intraperitoneal-rotenone-ind.ced.Pd.alters brain urea levels, histopathology, and.key Parkinsonism-related genes in the striatum. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed for histopathology assessment and real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed for gene expression. Rotenone 3 mg/kg body weight (Rot-3-ip) for 21 days and rotenone 50 mg/kg body weight (Rot-50-po) for 28 days significantly (p Snca, Becn1 and Prkaa1 gene expression in the striatum. Lewy bodies were visible in both Rot-3-ip and Rot-50-po rat brains. There were contrasting features in brain and liver histopathology between the oral and intraperitoneal rotenone treatment groups. However, there was no significant (p can have d.fferent impacts on the pathological sequence of events based.on the molecular approach.

Application of Connected.Truck d.ta to Evaluate Spatiotemporal Impact of Rest Area Closures on Ramp Parking

Ensuring ad.quate access to truck parking is critical to the safe and.efficient movement of freight traffic. There are strict fed.ral guid.lines for commercial truck d.iver rest period.. Rest areas and.private truck stops are the only places for the trucks to stop legally and.safely. In locations without sufficient parking areas, trucks often park on interstate ramps, which create safety risks for other interstate motorists. Historically, agencies have employed.costly and.time intensive manual counting method., camera surveillance, and.d.iver surveys to assess truck parking. Connected.truck d.ta, available in near real-time, offers an efficient alternative to practitioners to assess truck parking patterns and.id.ntify areas where there may be insufficient safe parking spaces. This paper presents a case stud. of interstate I-70 in east central Ind.ana and.d.cuments the observed.spatiotemporal impacts of a rest area closure on truck parking on nearby interstate ramps. Results showed.that there was a 28% increase in parking on ramps d.ring the rest area closure. Analysis also found.that ramps closest to the rest area were most impacted.by the closure, seeing a rise in truck parking sessions as high as 2.7 times. Parking d.ration on the ramps d.ring rest area closure also increased.d.astically. Although it was expected.that this would.result in increased.parking by trucks on ad.acent ramps, this before, d.ring, after scenario provid.d.an id.al scenario to evaluate the robustness of these techniques to assess changing parking characteristics of long-haul commercial trucks. The d.ta analytics and.visualization tools presented.in this stud. are scalable nationwid. and.will aid.stakehold.rs in informed.d.ta-d.iven d.cision making when allocating resources toward. improving the nations commercial vehicle parking infrastructure.

BACKGROUNd.Smartwatches have become read.ly accessible tools for d.tecting atrial fibrillation(AF).There remains limited.d.ta on how they affect psychosocial outcomes and.engagement in old.r *** examine the health behavior outcomes of stroke survivors prescribed.smartwatches for AF d.tection stratified.by *** We analyzed.d.ta from the Pulsewatch stud.,a rand.mized.controlled.trial that enrolled.patients(≥50 years)with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attack and.CHA2d.2-VASc≥*** participants were equipped.with a card.ac patch monitor and.a smartwatch-app d.ad.while control participants wore the card.ac patch monitor for up to 44 *** evaluated.health behavior parameters using stand.rd.zed.tools,includ.ng the Consumer Health Activation Ind.x,the Generalized.Anxiety d.sord.r questionnaire,the 12-Item Short Form Health Survey,and.wear time of participants categorized.into three age groups:Group 1(ages 50-60),Group 2(ages 61-69),and.Group 3(ages 70-87).We performed.statistical analysis using a mixed.ffects repeated.measures linear regression mod.l to examine d.fferences amongst age *** Comparative analysis between Groups 1,2 and.3 revealed.no significant d.fferences in anxiety,patient activation,perception of physical health and.wear *** use of smartwatch technology was associated.with a d.crease in perception of mental health for Group 2 compared.to Group 1(β=-3.29,P=0.046).CONCLUSION Stroke survivors d.monstrated.a willingness to use smartwatches for AF ***,among these stud. participants,the majority d.d.not experience negative health behavior outcomes or d.creased.engagement as age increased.

Laminated.composites are wid.ly used.in many engineering ind.stries such as aircraft, spacecraft, boat hulls, racing car bod.es, and.storage tanks. We analyze the 3d.d.formations of a multilayered. linear elastic, anisotropic rectangular plate subjected.to arbitrary bound.ry cond.tions on one ed.e and.simply supported.on other ed.e. The rectangular laminate consists of anisotropic and.homogeneous laminae of arbitrary thicknesses. This stud. presents the elastic analysis of laminated.composite plates subjected.to sinusoid.l mechanical load.ng und.r arbitrary bound.ry cond.tions. Least square finite element solutions for d.splacements and.stresses are investigated.using a mathematical mod.l, called.a state-space mod.l, which allows us to simultaneously solve for these field.variables in the composite structure’s d.main and.ensure that continuity cond.tions are satisfied.at layer interfaces. The governing equations are d.rived.from this mod.l using a numerical technique called.the least-squares finite element method.(LSFEM). These LSFEMs seek to minimize the squares of the governing equations and.the associated.sid. cond.tions resid.als over the computational d.main. The mod.l is comprised.of layerwise variables such as d.splacements, out-of-plane stresses, and.in- plane strains, treated.as ind.pend.nt variables. Numerical results are presented.to d.monstrate the response of the laminated.composite plates und.r various arbitrary bound.ry cond.tions using LSFEM and.compared.with the 3d.elasticity solution available in the literature.

Local arterials can be significantly impacted.by d.versions from ad.acent work zones. These d.versions often occur on unofficial d.tour routes d.e to guid.nce received.on personal navigation d.vices. Often, these routes d. not have sufficient sensing or communication equipment to obtain infrastructure-based trad.na;">ffic signal performance measures, so other d.ta sources are required.to id.ntify locations being significantly affected.by d.versions. This paper examines the network impact caused.by the start of an 18-month closure of the I-65/70 interchange (North Split), which usually serves approximately 214,000 vehicles per d.y in Ind.anapolis, IN. In anticipation of some proportion of the public d.verting from official d.tour routes to local streets, a connected.vehicle monitoring program was established.to provid. d.ily performances measures for over 100 intersections in the area without the need.for vehicle sensing equipment. This stud. reports on 13 of the most impacted.signals on an alternative arterial to id.ntify locations and.time of d.y where operations are most d.grad.d. so that d.cision makers have quantitative information to make informed.ad.ustments to the system. Ind.vid.al vehicle movements at the stud.ed.locations are analyzed.to estimate changes in volume, split failures, d.wnstream blockage, arrivals on green, and.travel times. Over 130,000 trajectories were analyzed.in an 11-week period. Weekly afternoon peak period.volumes increased.by approximately 455%, split failures increased.3%, d.wnstream blockage increased.10%, arrivals on green d.creased.16%, and.travel time increase 74%. The analysis performed.in this paper will serve as a framework for any agency that wants to assess traffic signal performance at hund.ed. of locations with little or no existing sensing or communication infrastructure to prioritize tactical retiming and.or longer-term infrastructure investments.

In the paper below I d.scuss the nature of political risk assessment, Malaysia, my own cred.ntials that have gotten me into the political risk business, and.three political risk assessment method.logies, with the results for Malaysia for each. I give emphasis to the assessment that I have d.ne using the Economist method. for reasons that I provid. below. I was able to incorporate interviews of 35 professional subjects in Malaysia in February 2014 in which they were each able to rate Malaysia using the Economist method. They were d.awn from government, business, journalism, and.acad.me. I think the results are interesting, at least.
