Copper matrix Composites Reinforced with Nanometer Alumina Particle

The microstructure and properties of the oxide particle dispersion strengthened composite fabricated by.internal oxidation method have been studied. Using nitrogen base atmosphere and a new process flow we can improve the quality.of the MMCs and decrease the cost of the composites. The size of alumina is in the nanometer order of magnitude and the particles are well distributed. Under the condition of having good electrical conductivity. the composites have 1 to 2 times higher mechanical properties than those of pure Cu.

The thermody.amics and kinetics of the internal oxidation in dilute Cu-Al alloy.are investigated. The internal oxidation of copper alloy.containing 0.2 similar to 1.2 wt pet Al is studied in the temperature range from 1073 K to 1273 K. A related equilibrium diagram is drawn. A mathematic model of oxidation lay.r depth is developed on the base of the experimental results. The experiments and investigation show that the formation rate of the internal oxidation lay.r is mainly.controlled by.the diffusion of O in matrix, the O concentration on the surface and the Al concentration in the alloy.

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by.pathogenic Leptospira. The disease affects various high-risk groups including army.personnel, who are at risk because of field activities that bring them into close contact with zoonotic reservoirs. This cross-sectional study.determined the seroprevalence of leptospirosis among 616 asy.ptomatic army.personnel in Northeastern Malay.ia. Sociodemographic data were obtained using validated questionnaires. Serological screening for leptospirosis was performed using an ELISA method and confirmed by.microscopic agglutination test (mat). Samples indeterminate and positive according to ELISA (n = 117) were sent for mat testing. A mat titer ≥ 100 was considered positive evidence of exposure to leptospirosis. The overall seroprevalence of leptospirosis among the subjects was 16.2% (95% confidence interval: 13.32, 19.15). The most common reaction obtained with the sera tested by.mat was against a strain of Leptospira spp. isolated from Terengganu (38.3%) followed by.L. biflexa serovar Patoc (35.2%). In conclusion, the seroprevalence of leptospirosis among army.personnel in Northeastern Malay.ia is high.

Objective: Leptospirosis is a known zoonotic disease which is closely.related to certain high-risk occupational group. This study.aimed to identify.the risk factors associated with seropositive leptospirosis among army.personnel. Methodology. A cross sectional study.was conducted involving 616 army.personnel using a self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of sociodemographic, occupational and environmental data as well as recreational activities history. Serum sample for leptospirosis was taken for screening with IgM Enzy.e-linked Immunosorbent Assay.(IgM ELISA) test. Positive tests were confirmed by.Microscopic Agglutination Test (mat). Results: All respondents were male, Malay. and married with the mean age of 29.28 (7.15) y.ars old. The mean duration of working was 11.50 (7.75). Majority.of the respondents were non-officer and riflemen, smokers (455 (73.9%), stay.d inside the camp and engaged in recreational activities. The mean duration of employ.ent was 11.50 (7.75) y.ars. The overall seroprevalence of leptospirosis was 16.2% (95% CI: 13.32, 19.15) and the predominant pathogenic serovar identified was Terengganu (38.2%). Those who had lower educational levels were more protective for positive leptospirosis compared to those who have only.primary.education (OR: 0.32;95% CI: 0.14, 0.76;p = 0.009). Conclusion: Despite being named as one of the high-risk occupations for leptospirosis, this study.found no significant occupational factors related to leptospirosis seropositivity.among army.personnel.

Liquid cry.talline poly.er-poly.mide 66 (LCP/PA66) blends were compounded by.using a Brabender mixing followed by.compression moulding. The LCP employ.d was a semi-flexible liquid cry.talline copoly.steramide based on 30% (molar fraction ) of p-amino benzoic acid (ABA ) and 70% (molar fraction) of poly.(ethy.ene terephthalate) (PET). The LCP/PA66 blends were investigated in terms of the thermal and dy.amic mechanical properties. It was found that PA66 and LCP components of the blends are miscible in the molten state, but are partially.miscible in the solid state. The inclusion of the semi-flexible LCP into PA66 retards the cry.tallization rate of PA66. Furthermore, the melting temperature and the degree of cry.tallinity.of PA66 are reduced considerably.due to the LCP addition.

Research status of high strength low alloy.TRIP (transformation induced plasticity. steels for automobile structural parts is briefly.described. Composition and microstruc-ture factors especially.the morphology. size and volume fraction of retained austenite, which largely.influence the strength and ductility.of the steel, are reviewed and discussed one after another. Modelling of the inter-critical annealing and martempering processes as well as the designing of the TRIP steel aided by.commercial software are introduced. Some special aspects of the dy.amic mechanical properties of TRIP steel are firstly.reported.

Background:In vitro embry. production(IVP)and embry. transfer(ET)are two very.common assisted reproductive technologies(ART)in human and ***,in pig,the combination of either procedures,or even their use separately.is still considered suboptimal due to the low efficiency.of IVP plus the difficulty.of performing ET in the long and contorted uterus of the *** addition,the potential impact of these two ART on the health of the offspring is *** investigated here if the use of a modified IVP sy.tem,with natural reproductive fluids(RF)as supplements to the culture media,combined with a minimally.invasive surgery.to perform ET,affects the output of the own IVP sy.tem as well as the reproductive performance of the mother and placental molecular ***:The blastocy.t rates obtained by.both in vitro sy.tems,conventional(C-IVP)and modified(RF-IVP),were *** and farrowing rates were also ***,when compared to in vivo control(artificial insemination,AI),litter sizes of both IVP groups were lower,while placental efficiency.was higher in AI than in *** expression studies revealed aberrant expression levels for PEG3 and LUM in placental tissue for C-IVP group when compared to AI,but not for RF-IVP ***:The use of reproductive fluids as additives for the culture media in pig IVP does not improve reproductive performance of recipient mothers but could mitigate the impact of artificial procedures in the offspring.

In this paper theoretical studies were performed on artemisinin (qinghaosu) derivatives with semiempirical quantum chemical methods AM1 and PM3. The antimalarial activity.-logC has an obvious correlation with the net charge of C(16) and bond orders of bonds O(1)-C(10), O(2)-C(6), O(1)-O(2) and O(5)-C(16). According to the calculation results, we derived structure-activity.relationship, presented the probable pharmacophore of qinghaosu derivatives and the interaction fashion between the drugs and the plasmodium receptor.
