Background The nationally determined contribution（nDC） presented by Argentina within the framework of the Paris Agreement is aligned with the decisions made in the context of the United nations Framework Conven-tion on Climate Change（UnFCCC） on the reduction of emissions derived from deforestation and forest degradation, as well as forest carbon conservation（REDD+）. In addition, climate change constitutes one of the greatest threats to forest biodiversity and ecosystem services. However, the soil organic carbon（SOC） stocks of native forests have not been incorporated into the Forest Reference Emission Levels calculations and for conservation planning under cli-mate variability due to a lack of information. The objectives of this study were:（i） to model SOC stocks to 30 cm of native forests at a national scale using climatic, topographic and vegetation as predictor variables, and（ii） to relate SOC stocks with spatial–temporal remotely sensed indices to determine biodiversity conservation concerns due to threats from high inter-annual climate *** We used 1040 forest soil samples（0–30 cm） to generate spatially explicit estimates of SOC native forests in Argentina at a spatial resolution of approximately 200 m. We selected 52 potential predictive environmental covari-ates, which represent key factors for the spatial distribution of SOC. All covariate maps were uploaded to the Google Earth Engine cloud-based computing platform for subsequent modelling. To determine the biodiversity threats from high inter-annual climate variability, we employed the spatial–temporal satellite-derived indices based on Enhanced Vegetation Index（EVI） and land surface temperature（LST） images from Landsat *** SOC model（0–30 cm depth） prediction accounted for 69% of the variation of this soil property across the whole native forest coverage in Argentina. Virtual Transmission Solution Based on Battery Energy Storage Systems to Boost Transmission Capacity

The increasing penetration of variable renewable energy(VRE)generation along with the decommissioning of conventional power plants in Chile,has raised several operational challenges in the Chilean national Power Grid(nPG),including transmission congestion and VRE *** mitigate these limitations,an innovative virtual transmission solution based on battery energy storage systems(BESSs),known as grid booster(GB),has been proposed to increase the capacity of the main 500 kV corridor of the *** paper analyzes the dynamic performance of the GB using a wide-area electromagnetic transient(EMT)model of the *** GB project,composed of two 500 MVA BESS units at each extreme of the 500 kV corridor,allows increasing the transmission capacity for 15 min during n-1 contingencies,overcoming transmission limitations under normal operation conditions while maintaining system stability during *** dynamic behavior of the GB is also analyzed to control power flow as well as voltage *** results show that the GB is an effective solution to allow greater penetration of VRE generation while maintaining system stability in the nPG.

Physiotherapy Management of Rheumatic Diseases

Introduction: Physiotherapy is an integral part of the non-drug treatment strategy for rheumatological conditions. The evidence for its effects is not formal. The objective was to evaluate the impact of physiotherapy in the management of rheumatological disorders. Methods: 6-month case-control study (December 15, 2021 to June 20, 2022) at Ignace Deen University Hospital (Conakry). Patients with rheumatological disease who received drug therapy and physiotherapy were included in the case group. Age- and sex-matched controls had rheumatological conditions, treated without physiotherapy. The evaluation questionnaires were used: WOMAC (osteoarthritis), EIFEL (low back pain), nDI (neck pain), SPADI (shoulder). Patients with heart failure, respiratory failure and/or skin infection were not included. Results: We collected 773 patients (389 cases and 384 controls) with a mean age of 53.8 years ± 12.2 with female predominance (56.8%). Patients were mainly followed for osteoarthritis (65.2%). Rheumatological conditions managed were knee-based (119;30.6%), lumbar spine (220;56.6%), shoulders (27;6.9%) and cervical spine (23;5.9%). For an average duration of 53.4 ± 12.2 minutes per session, patients had benefited from a median of 19 physiotherapy sessions. After 3 months, the baseline mean VAS of 6/10 improved to 2.2 ± 1.6 for cases and 5.7 ± 1.2 for controls. Functional capacity was improved (WOMAC: 41.8 ± 22.7 vs. 18.3 ± 7.3). The satisfaction of patients treated with physiotherapy was 20 times higher than in controls. Conclusion: Physiotherapy performed in the management of rheumatological conditions significantly reduced pain and improved functional capacity.

The electrochemical preparation of polypyrrole-carboxymethylcellulose （PPY-CMC） conducting polymer composite films on indium tin oxide （ITO） glass electrode from an aqueous solution containing pyrrole monomer, ptoluenesulfonate electrolyte and carboxymethylcellulose insulating polymer is reported. The characterization by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FT-IR） shows that carboxymethylcellulose （CMC） has been successfully incorporated into polypyrrole structure forming PPY-CMC polymer composite films. The conductivity of the prepared composite films was found to increase with increaseing CMC concentration in pyrrole solution, The optical microscopic results show the influence of CMC concentration in the pyrrole solution over the morphological changes of the prepared films. The dynamic mechanical analysis （DMA） on the prepared PPY-CMC film reveals the higher plastic property of the PPY-CMC composite film.

nonlinear optical characterization of phosphate glasses based on ZnO using the Z-scan technique

The nonlinear optical properties of a phosphate vitreous system [（ZnO）x-（MgO）30-x-（P2O5）70], where x=8, 10, 15, 18, and 20 mol% synthesized through the melt-quenching technique have been investigated by using the Z-scan technique. In the experiment, a continuous-wave laser with a wavelength of 405 nm was utilized to determine the sign and value of the nonlinear refractive （nLR） index and the absorption coefficient with closed and opened apertures of the Z-scan setup. The nLR index was found to increase with the ZnO concentration in the glass samples by an order of 10-10 cm2·W-1. The real and imaginary parts of the third-order nonlinear susceptibility were calculated by referring to the nLR index （n2） and absorption coefficient （β） of the samples. The value of the third-order nonlinear susceptibility was presented by nonlinear refractive or absorptive behavior of phosphate glasses for proper utilization in nonlinear optical devices. Based on the measurement, the positive sign of the nLR index shows a self-focusing phenomenon. The figures of merit for each sample were calculated to judge the potential of phosphate glasses for application in optical switching.

The Conditions of Ovary Storage Affect the Quality of Porcine Oocytes

We studied the effect of different storage conditions of porcine ovaries (time, temperature) on the characteristics of the follicular fluid, immature oocyte quality, meiotic competence and in vitro fertilization of oocytes. Ovaries were stored for 2, 4 or 6 h at 3 different temperatures (15°C, 25°C or 35°C). As the storage time increased, pH and glucose concentration of the follicular fluid, percentage of live immature oocytes at germinal vesicle stage, oxidative activity and maturation rate decreased. At higher temperatures, pH and glucose concentration decreased, but oxidative activity and oocyte maturation rate increased. Lactate concentration and immature oocyte ROS production increased as storage time and temperature increased. The ovary storage for longer than 2 h at 25°C and 35°C resulted in low pH of the follicular fluid and high ROS level in immature oocytes. Such conditions seem to damage oocytes and impair their meiotic competence. A decrease in the oxidative activity caused by long time and/or low storage temperature may imply a decrease in oocyte vitality. In conclusion, in the porcine species, the transport of ovaries at 25°C and 35°C for 2 h are the best conditions to maintain adequate oocyte quality, meiotic competence and in vitro fertilization rates.
