Effects of Mirazid~ and myrrh volatile oil on adult Fasciola gigantica under laboratory conditions

Objective:To evaluate the effects of Mirazid and myrrh volatile oil on adult Fasciola gigantica(***) under laboratory ***:The effects of oleoresin extract of myrrh(Mirazid) and myrrh volatile oil on the surface morphology of adult *** following treatment in vitro had been determined by scanning electron *** results were compared with those observed in the fluke tegument following incubation in triclabendazole sulphoxide(TCBZ-SO),active form.(Fasinex,Ciba-Geigy).Results:Observations of the efficacy of Mirazid oleoresin extract and myrrh volatile oil indicated that both products showed dosedependent anthelmintic *** anterior half of the fluke was consistently more severely affected than the posterior *** surface changes induced by Mirazid oleoresin extract were less severe than those observed after exposure to either myrrh volatile oil or *** showed swelling after these treatments,but its level and blebbing were much greater with myrrh volatile oil;in which patches of tegumental sloughing were observed in the apical cone and the posterior mid-body region of *** was not observed after treatment with Mirazid oleoresin ***:The comparatively more disruption,observed in myrrh volatile oil exposed specimens,compared to that exposed to Mirazid oleoresin extract might suggest that the anthelmintic activity of Mirazid oleo resin extract was attributed to its content of volatile ***,increasing the concentration of myrrh volatile oil in Mirazid might possibly help to developing its anthelmintic activity._______________________________________________

Promising Effects of Zerumbone on the Regulation of Tumor-promoting Cytokines Induced by TNF-α-activated Fibroblasts

Inflammation plays an important role in the development of several *** cytokines,including tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),are associated with the induction of *** inflammation contributes to the progression of cancer through several mechanisms,including increased cytokine production and activation of transcription factors,such as nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB).Zerumbone(ZER),a component of subtropical ginger(Zingiber zerumbet Smith),seems to have anti-inflammatory,anti-cancer,and antioxidant *** this study,we aimed to explore the protective function and mechanisms of ZER against TNF-α-induced cancer-promoting *** found that the viability of stimulated human fibroblast cell lines was reduced after treatment with ZER(IC50=18µmol/L),compared to un-stimulated fibroblasts(IC50=40µmol/L).Besides,ZER inhibited mRNA expression and protein secretion of transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β),interleukin-33(IL-33),monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1),and stromal cell-derived factor 1(SDF-1),which were produced by TNF-α-induced fibroblasts,as measured by quantitative real time-PCR(qRT-PCR)and ELISA *** mRNA expression levels of TGF-β,IL-33,SDF-1,and MCP-1 showed 8,5,2.5,and 4-fold reductions,***,secretion of TGF-β,IL-33,SDF-1,and MCP-1 was reduced to 3.65±0.34 ng/mL,6.3±0.26,1703.6±295.2,and 5.02±0.18 pg/mL,respectively,compared to the untreated *** addition,the conditioned media(CM)of TNF-α-stimulated fibroblasts increased the NF-κB expression in colorectal cancer cell lines(HCT-116 and Sw48),while in the vicinity of ZER,the expression of NF-κB was *** the significant effects of ZER,this component can be used as an appropriate alternative herbal treatment for cancer-related chronic inflammation.

Quantum Electrostatic Shock-Waves in Symmetric Pair-Plasmas

In this paper, the quantum hydrodynamics (QHD) model is used to study the propagation of small- but finite-amplitude quantum electrostatic shock-wave in an inertial-less symmetric pair (ion) plasma with immobile background positive constituents. The dispersion due to the quantum tunneling and inertial effects as well as dissipation caused by particle collisions leading to the shock-like or double-layer structures are considered. Investigation of both the stationary and traveling-wave solutions to Kortewege-de Veries-Burgers evolution equation show that critical values exist which govern the type of collective plasma structures. Current analysis apply to diverse kind of symmetric plasmas such as laboratory inertially confined or astrophysical pair-ion or electron-positron degenerate plasmas.

Hepatocellular carcinoma surveillance:An evidence-based approach

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) makes up 75%-85% of all primary liver cancers and is the fourth most common cause of cancer related death worldwide. Chronic liver disease is the most significant risk factor for HCC with 80%-90% of new cases occurring in the background of cirrhosis. Studies have shown that early diagnosis of HCC through surveillance programs improve prognosis and availability of curative therapies. All patients with cirrhosis and high-risk hepatitis B patients are at risk for HCC and should undergo surveillance. The recommended surveillance modality is abdominal ultrasound(US) given that it is cost effective and noninvasive with good sensitivity. However, US is limited in obese patients and those with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD). With the current obesity epidemic and rise in the prevalence of NAFLD, abdominal computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging may be indicated as the primary screening modality in these patients. The addition of alpha-fetoprotein to a surveillance regimen is thought to improve the sensitivity of HCC *** investigation of serum biomarkers is needed. Semiannual screening is the suggested surveillance interval. Surveillance for HCC is underutilized and low adherence disproportionately affects certain demographics such as nonCaucasian race and low socioeconomic status.

Automated assessment of transthoracic echocardiogram image quality using deep neural networks

A Novel High Performance of GaN-Based HEMT with Two Channel Layers of GaN/InAlGaN

The potential impact of GaN-based high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) with two channel layers of GaN/InAlGaN is reported. Using two-dimensional and two-carrier device simulations, we investigate the device performance focusing on the electrical potential, electron concentration, breakdown voltage and transconductance (gm). Also, the results have been compared with structure of AlGaN/GaN HEMT. Our simulation results reveal that the proposed structure increases electron concentration, breakdown voltage and transconductance;and reduces the leakage current. Also, the mole fraction of aluminum in the InAlGaN has been optimized to create the best performing device.

Selection of the Proper Hammer in Pile Driving and Estimation of the Total Driving Time

There are various methods for analyzing pile driving process such as dynamic formulas, wave equation analyses and dynamic measurements. The programs of the two latter methods are relatively expensive to purchase and also require trained engineers to interpret the data it collects. Meanwhile, the use of the site specific empirical formulas based on the real cases of pile driving and output analyses of the wave equation analysis programs can be beneficial. In the current study, pile driving data from three sites in the south of Iran were collected. Using the data of these cases and one-dimensional wave equation analysis program GRLWEAP, couple of experimental formulas which determine the proper range of hammer＇s ID for driving a pile, are proposed. Finally, due to the importance of the time in marine projects, another experimental formula is also proposed for estimation of the total driving time.
