Thousands of community-developed(meta)data guidelines,models,ontologies,schemas and formats have been created and implemented by several thousand data repositories and knowledge-bases,across all *** resources are necessary to meet government,funder and publisher expectations of greater transparency and access to and preservation of data related to research *** obligates researchers to ensure their data is FAIR,share their data using the appropriate standards,store their data in sustainable and community-adopted repositories,and to conform to funder and publisher data *** data sharing also plays a key role in enabling researchers to evaluate,re-analyse and reproduce each other’s *** can map the landscape of relationships between community-adopted standards and repositories,and the journal publisher and funder data policies that recommend their *** this paper,we show how the work of the GO-FAIR FAIR Standards,Repositories and Policies(StRePo)Implementation Network serves as a central integration and cross-fertilisation point for the reuse of FAIR standards,repositories and data policies in *** to this effort,the FAIRsharing,an endorsed flagship resource of the Research Data Alliance that maps the landscape of relationships between community-adopted standards and repositories,and the journal publisher and funder data policies that recommend their ***,we highlight a number of activities around FAIR tools,services and educational efforts to raise awareness and encourage participation.

Non-Uniform FFT and Its Applications in Particle Simulations

Ewald summation method, based on Non-Uniform FFTs (ENUF) to compute the electrostatic interactions and forces, is implemented in two different particle simulation schemes to model molecular and soft matter, in classical all-atom Molecular Dynamics and in Dissipative Particle Dynamics for coarse-grained particles. The method combines the traditional Ewald method with a non-uniform fast Fourier transform library (NFFT), making it highly efficient. It scales linearly with the number of particles as , while being both robust and accurate. It conserves both energy and the momentum to float point accuracy. As demonstrated here, it is straight- forward to implement the method in existing computer simulation codes to treat the electrostatic interactions either between point-charges or charge distributions. It should be an attractive alternative to mesh-based Ewald methods.

A hybrid epoxy resin with intrinsic self healing properties has been prepared from a bifunctional Diels-Alder (DA) adduct. The obtained network, based on conventional Diglycidyl ether of BisphenolA (DGEBA) and DA epoxy, leads to simultaneous tuning of physical-chemical properties and healing capability. The self-repairing behavior has been verified by means of scratch recovery observation and micromechanical analysis. A satisfactory morphological and mechanical recovery has been achieved by thermal stimulus, leading to very promising application in the field of adhesives and structural applications.

In recent years, the interest on craft beer has been increasingly growing. In this work, sensory traits of five Italian artisanal beers were explored by a trained panel, through different sensory analysis methods: Quantitative Descriptive Analysis (QDA) and a sensory dynamic method, Temporal Dominance of Sensations (TDS). The sensory profiles obtained through these methods were compared to the description given by an expert beer taster. The trained panel (n = 12) evaluated five Tuscan beers, manufactured in Maremma area, Tuscany region, first through QDA. Twenty-eight sensory properties (visual, tactile, flavor and aromatic traits) were evaluated through a nine point scale. The descriptive profile was enriched by a dynamic sensory evaluation method, TDS. TDS was used by panelists to obtain a “real-time” flavor profile of the craft beers. During tasting, TDS provided information on the most striking flavor traits chosen among: floral, honey, roasted, chestnut, spicy, fruity, hoppy, and malty, of each beer. A PCA analysis showed the importance of the flavor attributes for beer profile compared to the expert taster description. Results highlighted the main traits of each beer and showed the validity of different profile methods. The interesting outcomes both provided useful profile patterns for brewers aiming at targeting specific segments of beer market and supported the development of interesting instruments for beer sensory analysis.

Endometrial cancer （EC） is the most common and lethal gynaecological cancer type in Europe and in North America. Frequently EC arises more in the corpus proper and manifests as round, polypoid expansile masses, but it may also originate in the lower uterine segment or spread in endometrium with necrosis and hemorrhage. The analysis was performed using a custom panel containing all DNA sequences loci coding pre-miRNAs and genes related to biogenesis and regulation of sncRNAs in normal and tumor tissues extracted from 6 unrelated patients with endometrial carcinoma. The identified variations were correlated with mature miRNAs differentially expressed in the same normal and tumor endometrial tissues. The comparison analysis confirmed the high degree of cellular and genetic intratumoral heterogeneity with a temporal and spatial miRNA expression distribution in association with genomic variants identified. The classification of specific DNA mutations, onto the loci identified, should be suitable to characterize possible instability genome regions and help classification of tumors to ameliorate the clinical management of patients affected by endometrial carcinoma.
